Chapter 2

Leticia had no idea how long she had been unconscious. By the time she woke up, she was already in the hospital.

She opened her eyes to see the worried Tristan by her side. The moment she saw him, she felt her heart being wrenched in immense pain once again.

Every word Tristan had texted to Chelsea, every time he had flirted with her… The evidence of his adultery was plunged into Leticia's heart like sharp blades.

Tears streamed down her cheeks all of a sudden. She opened her mouth, soon realizing that she couldn't utter a word.

The pain flaring from Leticia's chest was so intense that she thought she was about to die on the spot. All she could do was clutch her chest while biting her lower lip desperately. Silent sobs escaped from her lips at the same time.

Tristan was stunned when he saw how terrible Leticia looked. He rang the doctor over in a fit of panic before enveloping her in a tight hug.

"Letty, are you in pain? Don't be scared! I'm here now! I'll always stay by your side!"

All the doctors in the hospital crowded around Leticia as they performed check-ups on her anxiously. After a series of check-ups, the doctors finally drew a uniformed conclusion.

"Mr. Colton, Mrs. Colton has been afflicted with aphasia due to an emotional trigger."

Tristan froze instantly. A dark glint crossed his eyes instantly.

"Who? Who was the one that triggered Letty?"

After that, he summoned his assistant. There, he announced that he'd tear through the entire city just to find the one who had hurt Leticia greatly.

The assistant left the ward in a hurry after that. Soon, Tristan and Leticia were the only ones left in the ward.

Leticia remained trapped in Tristan's arms. No matter how much he comforted her, she remained unmoved. All she did was cry quietly as though she was a living marionette.

Needless to say, Tristan was extremely anxious. He could only hold her tightly while whispering comforting words into her ear.

"Letty, what happened to you? Please tell me, okay? Who hurt you? I'll subject that person to a fate that's a hundred times worse than what they've done to you!"

Tears continued running down Leticia's cheeks silently. She bit her lower lip so much that it began bleeding.

The one who hurt her the most was also the one she loved the most.

Tristan skipped work in the next few days just so he could focus on taking care of Leticia at the hospital. Still, her condition remained the same. She didn't show any trace of emotion, nor did she utter a word.

That was when Tristan remembered that Leticia loved eating the pastries from Southern Journ whenever she had a bad appetite. So, he drove all the way there to buy the pastries.

Surprisingly enough, Chelsea dropped by to visit Leticia during Tristan's absence.

Leticia's current condition seemed to please Chelsea greatly. She smiled as she placed the bunch of white lilies in a vase sitting on the nightstand. Clearly, she looked quite smug.

"Leticia, I bought your favorite white lilies. You must be wondering why I know you like white lilies, right? That's because you and I share the same favorite flower. That's why Tristan buys me a bouquet of white lilies whenever he buys white lilies for you!"

When Leticia recalled the memory of Tristan returning home with a bouquet of flowers every night, she felt extremely nauseous all of a sudden.

She gazed at Chelsea, noting the smugness on the latter's face.

"Leticia, you and Tristan have been together for seven years. It doesn't matter how much he loves you—at the end of the day, he's tired of sleeping with you.

"Men are all the same. They like keeping things fresh. Tristan told me before that he prefers having sex with me rather than you."

Every word Chelsea uttered was filthy yet ruthless. Leticia's heart trembled after hearing everything Chelsea had to say.

She kept trembling the whole time, her hands already curled into fists. She didn't even notice the way her nails dug into her palms.

Chelsea continued maintaining her overly casual façade as she dug out her phone from her pocket. After locating a few photos, she passed her phone to Leticia.

"Look at the photos, Leticia. Were you and Tristan this wild in bed?"

Leticia did her best to escape from Chelsea's phone. In the end, she couldn't stop herself from glancing at the screen.

The moment her eyes focused on the bare bodies being entwined with each other on the screen, she couldn't hold her nausea back anymore. As a result, she began dry heaving while leaning to the side of the bed.

Chapter 3

After Chelsea left, Leticia began smashing everything in the ward as though she had gone crazy. Her eyes now bloodshot, she made sure to smash everything that was within her line of sight.

When Tristan opened the door, all he saw was a total mess in the ward. That, and the fact that Leticia was standing on glass shards with her feet bare, her bloodshot eyes glaring daggers at him.

Panic took over his features in an instant. He rushed over immediately with the intention of pulling Leticia into his arms.

The glass shards pierced through Leticia's bare feet, leaving smears of blood everywhere. But it was as though Leticia couldn't feel any physical pain at all. All she did was stare at Tristan numbly.

This was Tristan's first time feeling this alarmed. His heart hurt so much that he thought it was about to shatter on the spot.

He tried to hug Leticia, but she kept struggling against him. In fact, she kept gripping his arms tightly. Finally, she broke down in loud sobs.

"I want to go home… Let me go home…"

These were the first words Leticia said after one week of silence.

Tristan was elated, to say the least. He responded by hugging Leticia tightly.

"Okay! Let's go home, alright? I'll take you home right now!"

Leticia could only slacken her grip on Tristan's arms helplessly. Tears continued to fall from her eyes.

She had already lost her home a long time ago. She could no longer return to her actual home.

Leticia had given up everything for Tristan's sake, so now, she didn't have a sanctuary of her own that she could call "home".

She had no idea how she got this outcome in the end. Of course, she failed to understand the reason why everything was falling apart.

Leticia and Tristan were deeply in love with each other, right? Everything was progressing well till the endgame. Their bright future lay ahead of them. If they continued down this path, they'd definitely achieve their happy ending.

So, why did Tristan stop halfway down the path and choose to take another woman's hand instead?

Once Tristan and Leticia got home, they saw Chelsea hanging out in the living room. She sat on the couch while drinking her favorite juice from her own mug as though she was the actual lady of the house.

Leticia's expression darkened instantly. Her body now trembling, she turned to look at Tristan while doing her best to keep her emotions under control.

"Tell her to leave. Right. Now."

Tristan didn't expect Leticia to make such a request. He seemed to be hesitant.

But Leticia was quick to interrupt him before he could come up with an excuse. "I'll leave if she doesn't leave."

Tristan quickly held her in his arms nervously. "Nonsense! You're the lady of the house, Letty! Where else can you go if you leave our home?"

After that, he turned to look at Chelsea. "Letty doesn't want you to stay here any longer. You should move out of this place."

Chelsea didn't argue with Tristan. She merely shot him a glance before heading upstairs to grab her luggage. After that, she left.

Once Leticia witnessed Chelsea leaving the mansion, she finally ascended the stairs. Then, she slammed the bedroom door behind her before locking herself inside the room.

Triston knocked on the door gently, hoping to appease Leticia with his words.

"Letty, why don't you tell me what's going on, hmm? Don't keep it to yourself. Haven't you always wanted to travel to Malbury? We'll take our private jet there. I can spend an entire month relaxing there with you.

"Letty, I've whipped up your favorite honey-glazed pork ribs. Open the door and try them out. Come on, just one bite."

But no matter what Tristan did—be it begging or coaxing—Leticia didn't say a word, nor did she acknowledge his presence.

Poor Tristan was burning with anxiety. Leticia could hear his booming thoughts through the door clearly.

[What on earth happened to Letty? She's not eating or drinking anything! What should I do if her health declines? I'm willing to do anything as long as Letty starts eating!

[Oh, Letty… Are you trying to give me a heart attack?]

Leticia leaned against the door before sliding downward weakly.

Why? Why did Tristan still choose to betray and hurt her despite loving her with all his heart?

Was it actually possible for a man to be in love with two women at the same time?

Chapter 4

A few days later, Leticia opened the door and went to the courtyard in order to get some fresh air.

It seemed that Tristan had already left the mansion. As for the housekeeping staff, they had already left right after cleaning up the whole place.

The entire mansion was extremely silent for the time being.

Leticia gazed at the courtyard, where the white lilies were in full bloom. For the first time ever, she was appalled by the lilies' fragrance.

Tristan had personally planted those flowers for her. In fact, he had gathered the best lily seeds from various spots in the world.

Leticia remembered weaving the ropes of the garden swing that was installed near the courtyard wall with Tristan. He told her that he'd push her and their future child on the swing once they had a child together.

The tips of the fence were meticulously polished by the builders in the past. This change stemmed from the time Leticia had accidentally wounded herself on the fence after venturing out into the courtyard in the middle of the night. Back then, Tristan had promised her that he would never let her get hurt anymore.

Tristan was willing to do anything for her just to make her happy.

So, which part of him was genuine? Which side of him was a façade?

It was true that Tristan loved, cared for, and pampered her greatly. But at the same time, the fact that he had betrayed her stood true.

Leticia no longer wished to look at the white lilies anymore. Hence, she turned on her heel and began making her way back to the mansion.

At that moment, a pair of headlights shone through the gaps of the trees. The car stopped about 150 feet away from the front entrance. Soon, Tristan and Chelsea got out of the car together.

Tristan could be seen walking around as normal. His legs were as healthy and strong as a regular human being's.

Poor Leticia was dumbstruck by the sight.

Since when had Tristan's legs recovered? Why didn't she know about such big news?

She remained rooted to the spot, watching as Chelsea approached Tristan and wrapped her arms around his neck intimately.

"Come on, Tristan. Stay with me for a little longer, hmm?"

Tristan raised an eyebrow. "Haven't I stayed long enough with you?"

Chelsea lowered her head shyly. Then, she nuzzled against Tristan's chin as though she was a kitten.

"You know the answer, yet you're still asking me that question. Tristan, since Leticia doesn't leave the room at all, why don't I spend the night with you in your home?"

Tristan's expression changed instantly the moment Leticia was mentioned. He removed Chelsea's arm from his body immediately. Even his tone became colder.

"Don't you dare involve Letty in this. I'm warning you—stay the hell away from Letty from now on. You should know the consequences very well should you inform Letty of the things that have happened between us."

Chelsea stuck out her tongue playfully. "Yes, yes. Don't be mad, alright? It was just a harmless suggestion."

Leticia backed away from the courtyard slowly. Finally, she turned tail and fled back to her room. She could only cover her mouth while doing her best to not break down in sobs.

Why? Why must Tristan do this to her?

Just how many secrets did he keep from her?

Leticia couldn't understand what Tristan wanted from her. Did he hide the fact that his legs had already fully recovered just so he could make her stay with him? Was it because he wanted her to devote her heart to him and swear to never leave his side?

The only reason why Leticia chose to stay was due to Tristan's sincerity. Little did she know that his "sincerity" was nothing but false feelings as well.

As the incidents piled up, the magnitude of their destruction was enough to reduce Leticia's mental fortitude into nothing but rubble. She was officially broken from the inside out.

Leticia regretted her decision immensely. She regretted falling in love with Tristan. Moreover, she regretted staying in this world just for his sake.

Her heart throbbed in immense pain. Leticia could only clutch her chest feebly, feeling as though she was about to drown in the abyss of despair.

Just as she was about to collapse, she suddenly remembered the satchel that the system had left for her prior to its disappearance.

The system had told her that she could open the satchel if she were to regret making this particular decision in the future.

Leticia rushed toward the cabinet in the room like a lunatic. Almost immediately, she dumped out everything in the cabinet.

Finally, she located the very thing the system had left for her in the last drawer. After tearing it open, all she saw was a short message.

"Never put your sincerity on the line when it comes to a man. You will never win. Leticia, if you regret making this choice and still wish to return to your original world, there's only one way left for you to take."
