Chapter 5

I went up to the attic in a daze. I leaned against the door, my teeth chattering.

There was something wrong with my parents' death. I didn't even notice my potential enemies.

Now, they are sharpening their knives and pointing them at me.

I heard the laughter of my cousin and his wife downstairs. They had come back from outside.

This family was all ungrateful people. I couldn't stay here. I have to find evidence as soon as possible and send them all to jail!

But as soon as I went downstairs, my cousin’s wife called me and asked, “Why are you back?”

My cousin had gone to the bathroom, and she rolled her eyes at me, "Doesn't the company have a rule that you are not allowed to leave early? You are so bold. Do you really think our money is windfall?"

I sneered and glanced at her, "Yes, I think so."

All of their money was tainted by the blood of my parents!

"Why look at me like that?"

She was startled by my expression and suddenly came close to me and said, "Jesse, I have good news for you. I'm pregnant."

Before I understood what she meant, she took a step back, sat on the ground in a particularly funny way, and shouted at the top of her voice, "Husband, Jesse hit my stomach, my child——"

Tim rushed out of the bathroom while barely pulling up his pants and punched me in the cheek.

I fell to the side, trying to dodge, but he held me down and kicked me a few more times.

Fiona was sitting on the ground, snickering at me viciously.

Though held down by a grown man, I managed to raise my knee and hit him hard in the groin.

The next second, a shrill howl sounded, and he fell off me, rolling back and forth on the ground.

Fiona was startled and rushed to help him. I was gasping for breath, pressed the neighborhood security button for help, and dialed 911.

My uncle and aunt also rushed over. My aunt went to help Tim and asked anxiously how he was. My uncle looked at me and asked, "Why did you fight? Jesse, are you okay?"

The latter part of the sentence was perfunctory, and I didn't reply to him. I saw the security guard coming in and pointed at Tim, "He beat me for no reason. Please help me call ambulance. Thank you."

I was the head of the household recorded in the neighborhood system, so even if this family was a long-term resident, I would be the one who was given priority protection if something happened.

Tim was shaking with pain. Fiona first gritted her teeth and rushed towards me, "How dare you hit my husband? I will fight you, you little bitch!"

As a result, before she could hit me, she was stopped by the security guards.

My aunt also cried and wiped her tears, "Jesse, we are all family, what do you want to do?"

The uncle talked to the security guards and said, "This was our family affairs. You guys go back first."

The security guards ignored them. After all, I was the owner of the house.

I ignored them but quietly pointed my phone camera at them.

When I overheard them talking outside the door, I turned on the recording mode and never turned it off.

The police and ambulance arrived almost at the same time.

I explained the situation first, saying that it was Tim who attacked me and that I was acting in self-defense. Fiona then scolded me, "Bullshit, you hit my stomach first, and I'm a pregnant woman. You're killing me on purpose!"

When she said this, she also said to the police, "Officer, you came at the right time. This woman beat my husband and deliberately killed me. She was a scoundrel. She stayed in our house and wanted to harm our whole family so that she could take over our property!"

When I heard her say this, I was so angry that I laughed. Even the police were shocked and looked at me.

I looked at her and asked slowly, "You said I was coveting your family's property, but did you know that I am the owner of this villa?"

This time, not only Fiona but also my uncle and aunt were shocked. They were still at a loss and didn’t know whether to be happy about Fiona’s pregnancy or scared about me calling the police.

At this moment, he waved his hands quickly, "Jesse, stop talking..."

Unfortunately, I ignored his pleas. Instead, Fiona raised her voice sharply, "What did you say? How could it be yours? My husband showed me the property title deed! Besides, you are a poor fresh graduate whose parents have died..."

Before she could finish her words, I raised my hand and slapped her.

"Your parents are still alive, but why didn't they teach you to respect others?"

The police came over to stop me. Fiona was very excited and struggled to hit me. She was scolded by the police and said angrily, "Officer, this was a liar. Mom and Dad, please say something!"

My uncle and aunt didn't dare to speak. I took out the property certificate from my bag and handed it to the police, "This was my property certificate. The neighborhood security guards could also testify that the householder had always been me."

I looked at Fiona's incredulous expression and reminded her, "Oh, not just this villa, the company was also mine. My parents founded it and made a will before they died. All the shares are in my hands. It had nothing to do with your parents-in-law and your husband. In exact terms, you and your whole family are the ones who lived off me."

Chapter 6

Fiona was stunned by this series of unexpected events and passed out.

She didn't look like acting.

So, she was also sent to the hospital.

I told the police that I didn't want to reconcile, and went to the hospital to get an injury assessment report. When I came out, I was stopped by my aunt.

"Jesse, how could you do this?"

She cried and said we are all family, "It's just a family affair, why did you go to the police station? I beg you, please go and ask the police to drop the case, okay?"

I pushed her hands away and told her, "I feel dizzy right now. The preliminary diagnosis was a concussion. You'd better not touch me, otherwise it will get worse."

At that time, I wanted to do an injury assessment, and Tim also said anxiously that he wanted to do it, too.

But his diagnosis report proved he was in good shape because I didn't exert my full strength, so there wouldn't be any injuries or after-effects.

But my condition was different.

When Tim hit me, I deliberately tolerated more of his strength so that I was inflicted with more grievous injuries.

I wanted Tim to be sent to jail.

The injury assessment report showed that the injury was minor, but as long as I didn't reconcile, Tim would have to stay in there.

Seeing that I didn't agree to reconcile, my aunt used the same old trick again. She knelt down in front of me and said, "Jesse, I know your brother was impulsive, but we are all a family. Could you forgive him this time, okay?"

When she knelt here, many people passing by looked over here.

Without a second thought, I knelt on the ground. "The doctor said that I was lucky this time, otherwise he would have beaten me to death. Aunt, I am grateful that you took care of my mother before, so I give you 100,000 dollars every month. Later, you said that the house was too small, so I gave you a 500-square-meter villa for your family to live in. You said that the property water and electricity maintenance costs hundreds of thousands a year, and I paid for it all. But now he and his wife are going to kick me out. Seeing I didn't leave, they beat me up like this. I also want to forgive him, but do you think he treats me as his family member?"

My aunt was stunned by what I said. The onlookers looked at her with contempt, and some even took out their phones to record a video.

The police walked over, and a female police officer came to support me and said to her, "We are doing this according to the law. It has no business to do with moral ethics or kinship Don't you trust the law?"

More than trusting, she had a strong sense of law, so she was afraid. I knew what she was afraid of, so I deliberately provoked her, "It's okay for us to reconcile, but the company will not employ him anymore. I don't want to stay with a murderer in the same company. Also, you should move out of the villa as soon as possible. We shouldn't live under the same roof."

Her body shivering, my aunt made sure I was serious before nodding randomly. She said okay, then turned around and left in a hurry.

I knew what she wanted to do.

Only by forcing them into a corner could you make them do something desperate.

I made some moves while I was recuperating in the hospital. I first removed Tim from his position, and when I returned to the company, I would be directly promoted to the position of CEO.

The first thing I did when I returned to the company was to use my authority as the CEO to obtain the account books and the documents of all projects.

The employees who had gossiped with me before were also shocked. In addition to curiosity, they looked at me with fear and worry.

After all, they had no idea that I would be the "former boss's daughter" and "little gangster" as they called me.

Some people even asked me secretly on the company’s anonymous wall whether I would take revenge on them later. I smiled and replied, “No, that's nothing.”

If it weren't for them, I wouldn't have discovered the conspiracy so quickly.

When my uncle came to see me, I made an excuse not to meet him and spread the news.

I deliberately let him know that I had found some clues.

Sure enough, in the evening, I heard a sound from the surveillance camera I had set up.

It's my uncle talking on the phone.

"Let's meet at the old place and talk in detail."

I knew the fish was hooked.

I haven't found all the evidence about Tim's crime, but even with this much, it's enough for him to be sentenced to imprisonment first.

So, as soon as Tim came out of the detention center, he got into a new police car in the presence of his uncle and aunt.

The person who picked him up this time was different.

The police arresting him were of an even higher rank.

Last time, it was common police officers; this time, it was a group of criminal police officers.

My aunt sat on the ground and cried, beating my uncle while crying. Then my uncle came to the company.

He came to settle the score with me.

In other words, it was for a plea.

"Jesse, your uncle was ashamed to come to see you, but Tim was the only son in our family, after all."

He must have had a rough time these past few days. He looked thinner, and his hair was all white. He came in and apologized to me first, "Just think of it as a favor to your uncle and forgive Tim this time, okay? If Tim was sentenced, his life would be over."

Causing minor injuries wasn't that serious, but economic crimes was different. The most important thing was that he knew Tim's character too well. Once Tim went to jail, he would definitely reveal his father's crime details in order to reduce his prison time.

I looked at him and asked, "When he embezzled the company's money, why didn't he think that if he was caught and sentenced, his life would be over?"

I would like to ask him, when he deliberately masterminded the car accident and killed my parents, why didn’t he think that my father was his biological brother?

Is this family love? I scoffed to myself.

I clenched my hands tightly, not daring to reveal any more emotions. My uncle was speechless and finally asked me, "What do you want me to do to let him go?"

I thought about it at that time and said to him, "Wait until he finishes his sentence. He had to pay the price for what he did."

My uncle mouthed a 'Well', and before he left, he said to me, "Jesse, I have treated you well over the years."

I didn't answer him, but only after he left, I was filled with hatred. He treated me well. Did that mean he killed my parents but spared my life?

No, I knew for sure he was going to kill me too.

On the night my parents had a car accident, I was originally supposed to be in the car, but my classmate called and invited me to a party. I pleaded with my parents, and after getting their permission, I went out and took a taxi to play with my classmates.

If I could go back in time, I wouldn't allow all this to happen.

I wished it were I who was in the car instead of them.

But the clock couldn't be turned back, anyway.

But my parents must not die in vain, and the murderer must be punished!

Chapter 7

After knowing that I was so hard-hearted, my aunt came to my company and yelled at me.

Her kind-looking disguise was torn off, revealing her hideous inner self.

"Jesse, didn't I treat you kindly all these years? I took care of your mother considerately and tirelessly, and I cleaned your house regularly. It's unrightful of my son to be greedy for money, but we could at least return it to you. How could you send him to prison? You are pressing our family too hard!"

She kept cursing, and the security guards were holding her back, so she couldn’t even get to me.

I looked at her and replied coldly, "Didn't I pay you as a caregiver? Didn't you live in the villa? Did I put a knife to his neck and force him to embezzle money? It was his greed that sent him to prison, not me."

She choked and wanted to say something further. I walked past her and asked again, "Also, don't you know how my mother died, do you?"

As soon as I said this, her face turned pale, and she looked at me in horror.

I ignored her and went straight to the underground garage.

I didn't stay in the villa anymore. I stayed in the hotel in the following days.

But as soon as I drove out of the company, I was hit by an oncoming pickup truck.

A constant buzzing sound around my ears, the airbag popped out, which I hit hard on, but I was pulled back by the seat belt.

I smelled a rusty scent, blood pouring out of my body. The police were knocking on my car window. I was breathing rapidly, watching them open the door and signal for medical staff to come and help.

Then I passed out.

When I woke up again, I was in a hospital ward.

The disinfectant smelled terrible, and my whole body felt pain. I propped myself up and pressed the bell, and the nurse came over quickly.

The police also came with them.

"How am I?"

My voice was hoarse as the nurse introduced my condition, "Except for the serious fracture of your lower leg, the rest are just minor abrasions. Ma'am, you are lucky."

I thanked her and saw the police officer next to me looking at me disapprovingly.

"Jesse, this was too risky. You are risking your life!"

I looked at him, smiled triumphantly, and choked up a little, "But, I won."

This car accident was anticipated by me.

The driver caused my parents' car accident and was later sent to prison only for 'drunk driving causing death'. After he was released, he became an unemployed vagrant and once tried to blackmail my uncle.

The only reason my uncle gave him money was that he wanted this person to continue working for him.

Wreak another car accident on me.

My uncle was still a little hesitant at first, but my aggressiveness finally made him make up his mind.

But he didn't know that I not only hired a private detective to get the evidence but also secretly set up surveillance cameras to monitor him. After collecting all the evidence, I gave it to the police, together with the video I had recorded at home.

The police had been keeping an eye on them during this period, but because they didn't yet realize their plan, if nothing happened to me, the punishment they would face would not match with the crimes they had committed.

How could I allow that?

So, I provoked them even more and made them act hastily and in advance.

I did not die, but their crimes were substantiated.

The driver was caught on the spot, and my uncle and his wife were also arrested by the police on charges of "attempted murder".

Oh, there was another reason why my aunt was arrested. When she came home and saw Fiona trying to run away with the money, she started fighting with her. Fiona had a miscarriage as a result of her assault.

Fiona was sent to the hospital for emergency treatment, while my aunt was taken to the police station.

After the couple was arrested, they initially refused to admit their crimes, but faced with strong evidence from the police, they could no longer resist and confessed.

The couple blamed each other, each saying that the other asked them to do it, but the law was overwhelmingly strict and just. Neither of them would be able to get away with their wrong-doings.

The evidence that my aunt had bribed the hospital staff was found, and the other party confessed to the crime and was sentenced.

Tim was imprisoned for economic crimes and received the punishment he deserved.

As for my uncle and aunt, they were both sentenced to life imprisonment because of their heinous nature and multiple crimes.

After the verdict was handed down, they were still not satisfied and requested an appeal, but the second instance still upheld the original verdict.

During the trial, they pointed and cursed at me, saying that I had brought ruin to our family and that I, a girl with such a vicious mind, would sooner or later suffer retribution.

The judge asked them to be quiet, and some people asked them to stop attacking and insulting me.

But there were more people watching me.

I gazed at them in a serious manner and asked, "Oh, now, aren't you suffering retribution?"

God has its own way of retribution.

Bad acts begets bad consequences. Good will be rewarded, and evil will lead to bitter results. This was what they deserved.

The End.

After everything was settled, the first thing I did was to put the villa up for sale.

This place carried the love my parents had for me, but there were more traces of evil people here.

After selling the villa, I donated the money in the name of my parents to support girls who could not continue their studies due to poverty.

This was a gift from my parents, which was filled with their love for me. I chose to give the money made from this love to other girls, and I hoped that they could be surrounded by this love and had a better tomorrow.

In addition, I cleaned up the company, taking this opportunity to drive out all the parasites and protect my parents' painstaking fruit from harm.

By eliminating malpractices and promoting innovation, the company's atmosphere improved a lot, and everything was back on the right track.

I picked a good day, went to the cemetery, and burned the verdict in front of my parents' graves.

The spring breeze didn't touch me, and the sun was shining brightly, but I still felt cold.

I hugged the tombstones, with their photos attached to them, and my eyes slowly became moist.

Before leaving, I kowtowed to them and tried to smile, "You could rest in peace. And I will be fine."

The cemetery was deserted, the wind blew past me, and I was the only one left in this world, with no one to rely on, and I could only move forward alone.

But I was not afraid because my parents’ love had been with me, and as long as I still had the memory, that love would not disappear.

So, go ahead boldly.

It would be a nice sunny day tomorrow.
