Chapter 2

I was stunned by Tim and his wife's attitudes. The villa was mine, and the company was mine too, but one of them asked me to start as an intern and the other asked me to move out?

Do they know who this house belonged to?

"You're right, an outsider should not live here."

I sneered and was about to throw a tantrum when my aunt held me back.

"Fiona, what nonsense are you talking about? If you do not know how to talk, get out of here and go back upstairs!"

As she spoke, she grabbed my hand and looked at me pleadingly, "Jesse, don't be angry. Your sister-in-law was muddle-headed today. I will teach her a lesson for you. This was your home, and no one could chase you out!"

The uncle beside him also smiled and said, "Yes, Jesse, don't be angry, you are our little princess."

As he spoke, he kicked his cousin's stool and told him to get out with his wife.

Tim and Fiona were also very angry. They dared to scold me but didn't dare to disobey my parents. They didn't go upstairs but went straight out.

The door slammed loudly, and the welcoming party ended unhappily. I asked, "Uncle and Aunt, what happened?"

My parents had a car accident a few years before. My father died on the spot, and my mother stayed in the hospital for more than a year before she also died.

By then, I was too busy studying abroad and wanted to drop out and come back, but my uncle and aunt stopped me.

"Even if you come back, you can't nurse your mother all the time, right? Auntie had enough time to do that, so I'll take care of your mother."

She took care of my mother wholeheartedly. Once, when I went to visit my mom, I saw my aunt changing a urine bag for her. She didn't mind the filth and tiredness and was much more reliable than a nurse.

My mother lay in bed for more than a year, and her body was clean until her death.

Although I paid her a salary more than that of a caregiver, the family love was more precious. And when my uncle and aunt later offered to maintain the villa for me, I agreed without hesitation.

We are all family, and I was abroad, and the house was just sitting there idle, so I let their whole family move in.

But I didn’t expect that I would be the one to be kicked out.

"My sister-in-law had only been married for two years, so I could understand that she didn't know that the villa was mine. But what's going on with the company?"

This company was founded by my parents. From a street shop to a company with hundreds of employees, it was the fruit of their hard work.

My uncle was uneducated, but when my parents were alive, they took great care of him, my father's only younger brother, and arranged a job for him.

Two years ago, my cousin Tim joined the company, and I was the one who approved his entry into the job. How come it’s the other way around now that it’s my cousin who arranged for me to be an intern?

My uncle laughed and explained to me, "Your cousin had been bullied in the company in the past two years, and he was afraid that you will be bullied by those oily old-hands when you enter the company."

My aunt also wiped away her tears sadly, "Jesse, it's all my fault. Fiona's parents said that they would not allow her to get married with Tim without a house. You know, we could't afford it... So we just lied that this house was ours. Jesse, could you do me a favor and not expose this matter first?"

She promised me, "I will explain it to her as soon as possible. Jesse, before that, please don't tell her the truth."

The house issue was nothing, I figured. I nodded and said, "But I have to go to the company. This was my parents' business. I couldn't just leave it unattended."

My uncle and aunt agreed, but when I returned to my room, I found that the master bedroom was occupied.

Chapter 3

When the villa was being renovated, it was designed by my mother. Her love for me was reflected in every detail. The master bedroom was the one she was most satisfied with, and she selected all the furniture herself.

But she didn't get to see what it actually looked like.

Later, when my uncle and aunt moved in, I specifically told them that they could choose any room except the master bedroom.

But now, someone had moved into the master bedroom without my consent. It was filled with large photo frames, and the decorations were changed. As soon as I entered, I could smell a strong and pungent scent of perfume.

I was so angry that I was shaking all over. When I turned around, my aunt was kneeling in front of me.

"Jesse, listen to my explanation. When Fina got married, she insisted on living here, saying that she couldn't get married if she didn't. Jesse, please feel sympathy for your aunt. It's not easy for Tim to marry. We have emptied our family's savings. If she doesn't want to, the money we have spent will go in vain..."

My aunt was crying as she spoke, and even my uncle beside her was sighing. My aunt grabbed my sleeve. I suppressed my anger and went to help her up first.

"Aunt, get up first."

Making an elder kneel down in front of me? That wasn't my style.

But the aunt refused to get up, kneeling on the ground, and cried about her difficulties, "Your useless, incompetent cousin got hooked on Fiona, that his marriage almost cost all our family's savings. I don't want to follow her wishes, since this was your house. But, I really had no other choice, Jesse. Please forgive me!"

When she cried like this, my uncle wiped his face and said, "Before, when you were abroad, I wanted to tell you about this, but your aunt wouldn't let me do so. If I knew the situation would turn ugly like now, why did we not cancel Tim's marriage. We won't give a damn about the money that had been put in. I am really guilty and ashamed, Jesse!"

My uncle was about to bang his head against the wall, but I quickly stopped him, "Uncle, calm down, let's discuss this... let's discuss this."

It was just a master bedroom, anyway. How could I force this old couple to seek their death for it?

"I'll stay in another room for now, but you need to explain this to them as soon as possible."

They didn't want to lose face, which was understandable.

But I didn't expect that they would let me stay in the attic.

"This was arranged by your sister-in-law, but don't worry, Jesse. I will tell her the truth as soon as possible. Please, just bear with it for a while, okay?"

I suppressed my anger and gritted my teeth, "Okay, one month at most. Auntie, if you don't do it, I will do it myself then!"

Because of what my aunt said, I didn't bother with my cousin and Fiona for the time being, but I didn't expect that she would become even more aggressive.

"It's nice to live in someone else's house. what a cheeky beggar!"

"I was wondering why the fortune teller said I would encounter a jinx this year. It turns out this is how it is!"

I was busy with job-related matters and ignored her words. My uncle and aunt had already promised it, so I didn't bother to argue with her over this.

Unexpectedly, when it was time for dinner, she simply removed a chair.

"I'm sorry, there are only four chairs that could be used in the house, and there was no place for you to eat."

Fiona's expression was full of malice, "Why don't you eat while standing?"

I glanced at her and asked, "You know I ordered and paid for today's dishes, right?"

After spending a few years abroad, my obsession with homeland food reached its peak. My uncle and aunt were reluctant to spend too much money, so in order to stuff my stomach, I ordered all the meat for the dishes from a supplier that specialized in supplying raw materials to five-star hotels. The price was high, but the meat was fresh and delicious.

Fiona's face froze, and then she frowned, "So what? Do you think you are justified in living in my house?"

After being scolded last time, she had been picking on me. Now that my uncle and aunt were not around, she was even more blatantly aggressive, "If you want to eat, eat. If you don't want to eat, get out. Do you really think I have to serve you?"

I didn't want to talk to this kind of person anymore, so I turned around to leave. Then I saw Fiona throwing a handful of sugar wrappers on the ground, "Sweep the floor before you leave. You're living here for free, so at least do some work."

I stopped, turned around, and smirked at her.

The next moment, I picked up a plate on the table and threw it to the ground with a bang.

The soup splashed all over Fiona, and before she could react, I threw away the rest.

Fiona didn't react for a moment until I smashed all the dishes on the table. She pointed at me and yelled angrily, "Jesse, are you crazy!"

Chapter 4

I kept smiling and replied calmly, "I paid for these food, so it's within my right to dispose of them, right?"

The mess on the ground startled my uncle and aunt in the room. When they found out, they were dumbfounded and asked, "Jesse, what are you doing?"

I ignored them and continued to say to Fiona, "Oh, and I heard that you haven't been working yet, and you are supported by the family - remember to sweep the floor before going back to your room. You are living here for free, so at least do some work."

While Fiona was yelling downstairs, I had a good sleep upstairs.

In the days that followed, Fiona was obviously much more well-behaved. She didn't dare to throw a tantrum in front of me, and I never bothered to argue with her.

When I was abroad before, I found some problems with the company's finances. So, after I came back, although I didn't start out as an intern, I didn't jump in directly either. Instead, I started with a lower position.

I didn't reveal my identity and quickly became friends with everyone in the department. During this period of time, I also got to hear a lot of office gossip.

But the more I heard, the more alarmed I felt.

I heard that our former boss was killed by a gang of thieves. Fortunately, our current CEO took over the company; otherwise, the company would have closed down long ago.

"Yes, yes, I heard about it too. It was said that the former boss had a daughter who was a little gangster and a speedster. Our boss was kind-hearted. It was said that he had raised her abroad and provided for her."

In the past few years, when I was abroad, my uncle held the title of general manager in the company, but it was just an empty title. Two years ago, he said that he could not do the job anymore and arranged for my cousin to take over his position. I didn't say anything and even increased my uncle's dividends.

How did the rumor spread that Tim was the company's boss?

I wanted to ask something else, but I received a phone call. I didn't bother to answer the phone and went back to the office.

Regarding the previous finance issues, after I got the company’s real account books, I entrusted one of my friends from a famous accounting firm to help me check them. Now, the results were out.

But it made me so angry that even my fingers were shaking.

"There are problems with the accounts, and the accounting irregularity is great, conservatively estimated to be tens of millions of dollars. I asked one of my friends in the industry, and he told me that your cousin was quite greedy."

I sat in the office for a long time that day.

This was an economic crime and must not be tolerated.

If it was someone else, I would have called the police directly, but the person on the other end was my cousin.

Even if I didn't care about him, I had to consider my uncle and aunt. They were old and had run around for our family over the years. Tim was their only son, and thus, I should try to hold back as I could.

I had a meeting in the evening, and suddenly I remembered that there was a document on my home computer. I didn't like others touching my things, so I just went back for it myself.

When I passed by my uncle and aunt's room, I wanted to greet them, but I heard my aunt blaming my uncle.

"I've said it before, Jesse was not an easy person to deal with. She had already started checking the accounts, and sooner or later, she will find out about you two. Don't be too soft-hearted. We're already at the end of the rope."

"Wait a little longer. She just returned home, after all."

My aunt cursed and kept walking around the room, "What are we waiting for? Wait for her to find out that you and Tim were corrupt, or to find out that you were the one who killed her parents?"

Their words made my blood freeze.

My parents were murdered?!

I stood there, feeling as if I were falling into an icy cave, and heard the usually amiable uncle's ferocious voice, "What are you yelling about? Don't forget, you killed her mother, and neither of us could escape responsibility!"

My aunt's voice was obviously guilty. "But I, I had done it as you said. Stop talking nonsense. I told you, Jesse gave me a month to vacate the villa. If things keep going like this, she may well find out the truth someday. I told you at the beginning to kill this little girl. She would cause troubles for us. But you hesitated. Why not do away with her just then? Why did you have to drag it on until now-"

As she spoke, she asked again, "Hadn't the driver already come out? Why don't you contact him again, give him some money, and ask him to kill this little bitch!"

My uncle hummed and said, "Okay."
