Chapter 3
But for the Carl family's power, this was not surprising.
"Forget it, anyway, you won't have a chance to try in your lifetime."
She put on her sunglasses and smiled confidently.
"Sabrina, tell your parents that they don't need to chase me away. Starting today, I, Shealy Zack, will change my surname back to Zayn and completely cut ties with your Zack family."
Surname Zayn?
What's the point?
Well, she's an adult. Who can always bear the consequences of her actions? She can do whatever she wants.
But I.
Looking at the summons in my hand, I really didn't expect that things at home had become so difficult.
No wonder my parents forced me to go on a blind date with Harry. If I had known that earlier, I would have taken it seriously.
"Darling, you're here."
A Maserati stopped in front of the door, and Shealy walked up, pretending to be charming.
To be honest.
I'm not jealous or trying to pry into their privacy. I just genuinely wanted to see what kind of person Harry had become after all these years.
Unexpectedly, after he kissed Shealy, he looked up and noticed me.
Our eyes met.
He raised his eyebrows flirtatiously at me.
I was quite startled.
Not because he flirted with me in front of Shealy.
But because this man, he was not Harry at all!
Shealy noticed that he was distracted and turned to look at me.
He whistled and nodded in my direction.
"Who's she?" asked Harry.
Shealy smiled mysteriously and arrogantly raised her chin.
She whispered something in his ear, and they both burst into laughter.
"So it's her, no wonder she looks so cheesy."
He said out of the blue.
Then he stepped on the gas pedal.
After a loud roar, he sped away with Shealy.
I was puzzled and suspicious as I closed the door.
Just as I was about to go back upstairs, my parents came down.
"Dad, a summons."
As soon as my dad saw what I was holding, he quickly snatched it away, a fleeting awkwardness on his face.
"How did it get delivered to our house?"
Then he changed the topic and asked all sorts of questions and my future plans.
"Just go to work. Didn't you say that the company is short of staff? So I'll go."
Actually, I didn't know if there were any other ways to help my parents through this crisis.
The arranged marriage had already been ruined by me.
But even if I had no value anymore, it shouldn't stop me from making a little bit difference.
"Weren't you always interested in freelancing?"
My mom saw through my little plan and glared at me fiercely, taking out a check from her bag.
"Take this money. Your dad's company may be struggling, but you don't need to add to the chaos. While we still have the ability, go and do what you want to do."
Standing at the forefront of the times, who doesn't want to become famous overnight?
But when I kept talking about wanting to be a self-media personality, it was just a way to escape the high pressure from my parents and return to a carefree life.
However, my mother kept it in mind.
Even though things had become so difficult at home, she still wanted to support me.
My nose felt tingly, and I couldn't help but tear up.
I averted my gaze, put the check back into her hand, and tried to appear inattentive and careless.
"Just talk casually. With my current situation, it's impossible for me to become popular. I might as well go work for dad and at least have a monthly salary in my bank account."
"Hey, you!"
My mom wanted to insist, but my dad stopped her, looking pleased.
Chapter 4
Sighing, they turned to look around the room and asked me.
"Where's Shealy?"
I couldn't help but sigh, "She was taken away by someone."
No need for many words, my parents already understood what it meant. They exchanged a glance, and my mom was about to get angry again.
"But the man who took her away wasn't Harry."
"Not Harry?"
My words shocked my mother, and her anger immediately subsided.
She squinted at me, her eyes filled with doubt.
"Although this young master of the Carl family, Harry, is elusive, who would dare to impersonate him so boldly?"
"Besides, you don't even know which direction the Carl family's gate faces. How do you know he's not Harry?"
Good question.
How did I know?
Just as I took out my phone to make a video call, my phone rang.
Speak of the devil and he just appears.
I pressed the answer button speechlessly and put it on speaker.
"Boss, do you have no conscience? I've been back for three days, and you still haven't shown up!"
My mom was wrong.
Not only did I know which direction the Carl family's gate faced, but I also knew the password to the Carl family's door lock.
For the past few years while Harry was sent by his father to study at the Harvard University, it was me who took care of his house.
But to be honest, I didn't have much of a relationship with Harry.
It's just that he admired me unilaterally. That's all.
Who would have thought that the real-life big shot would be a noob in the game?
Back in college, when we organized activities in the student club, I took pity on him because he was being bullied by a group of losers in the game, so I helped him out.
And he got attached to me!
He insisted that I teach him how to improve his gaming skills.
But honestly, compared to the real veterans, I couldn't even be considered something.
"The most important thing in playing games is character! If you have a good character, I'll play with you."
Nowadays, who doesn't have a bit of vanity? He called me "boss," and we always hung out together.
Naturally, after so many years of being there for him, now that he's back after completing his studies, I, as his boss, should throw him a celebration party.
I had everything prepared, but my mom suddenly appeared out of nowhere.
Without any psychological preparation, she wanted me to go on a blind date with him!
"Well, I'm busy."
In the top right corner of the video, I looked awkward.
Very awkward.
Although Harry didn't know about this, I did.
Having a romantic relationship with my own bro?
Just thinking about it feels uncomfortable and stimulating.
"You're busy? What could you possibly be busy with, the second-generation rich? Hurry up, same place as before, I'm waiting for you to play together."
What a disappointment.
After studying for so many years, he still had the same hobby. And he had the nerve to call me a second-generation rich?
I rolled my eyes and hung up the video call.
But my mom acted as though she had encountered something more mysterious than a collapsing universe, and she kept muttering to herself.
"Hiss. Something's not right."
"What's wrong?"
I had said it a hundred times, but she still didn't believe it.
"Are you sure this Harry is the young master of the Carl Group?"
Exhausted, I slumped into the sofa and repeated it for a million times.
"Absolutely true."
"Then who is the person Shealy went on a blind date with?"
I sat up abruptly.
Right.
Who was the man pretending to be Harry and toying with Shealy?
The situation at home was worse than I had imagined.
On the company's balance sheet, there was only a few hundred thousand left.
If we couldn't find an investor soon, within a week, the Zack Group would go bankrupt.
Chapter 5
"So that's what you're busy with."
After I brushed him off a few times, Harry personally came to find me.
Squatting in a corner, he eavesdropped on a few disgruntled front desk employees talking.
With a wave of his hand, he was ready to write me a check.
"Why learn anything else when you can learn to be a president!"
If the name is not correct, the words will not ring true.
I wanted money from anyone.
But I couldn't take his money.
"What do you mean learn? Bro, I'm the real bossy president."
Look at him.
His appearance still exuded that student vibe, carefree and without any proper shape. Apart from a slightly more defined face from his puppy fat, he was no different from before he went to study abroad.
It turned out that his father spent 10 million on his tuition in vain.
But my dad treated him like he had encountered a savior, tears of gratitude in his eyes as he welcomed him into the office.
He immediately drafted a contract, about to transfer forty-nine percent of the shares.
"Dad, have you thought about it? If we sign this contract, the Zack Group might belong to the Carl Group in the future."
My dad looked at me and then at Harry.
He sighed as if resigned to his fate, "Anyway, sooner or later, we'll have to be owned by the Carl Group."
With that, he signed her name in one go.
"Oh no, the check is missing."
The contract was all signed, but Harry actually backed out!
I was so scared that I snatched the contract from his hand.
After not seeing each other for a few years, who knows if he had picked up any bad habits.
"Boss, look at you, so wary of me, like I'm a thief."
Harry pouted in injured pride and quickly took out his phone from his pocket.
"It should be in the car. Wait here, I'll have someone bring it up."
After making the call, it didn't take three minutes before a well-dressed man pushed open the door and walked in.
He lowered his head, only looking at the ground, making it difficult to see his features clearly.
But I still recognized him in an instant.
He was the man who pretended to be Harry and hung out with Shealy.
It's just that before, he had the air of a disdainful rich young master.
And now, he appeared so humble, almost pitiful.
There were only a few of us in the room, and it didn't take long for him to notice me.
He seemed completely unprepared for my presence, and after a surprised wide-eyed look, a hint of annoyance appeared on his face as if he wanted to disappear instantly.
Seeing that I was still staring at him intently, he quickly lowered his head even more.
"Here, check."
I was stunned and didn't take it.
Harry noticed something was off and followed my gaze, realizing what I was looking at.
He snorted and introduced him to me.
"He's Justin, the new driver my dad assigned to me."
Oh.
A driver?
Justin found a random excuse and quickly fled.
Seeing me in a daze, staring at his back, Harry, feeling like a doormat, pouted and complained.
"What's going on? Why are they all like they've been bewitched?"
Huh?
What did he mean?
I turned to look at him, but he stopped talking.
He just said in a sarcastic tone.
"It doesn't matter. Anyway, I'm a professional at dispelling strange phenomena. It's just to wash another pair of eyes and stuff."
Then he gave me a disdainful look.
So confident.
"Hey! What are you doing?"
I elbowed him in the chest, and he yelled out in pain, breaking the aura.
I really gave him face, but he's addicted to talking big!
Without figuring out the situation, he was blabbering about something!
"Let me tell you, things are different now. I've made it big, so you can't treat me casually like before!"
