Chapter 5

Baxter leaned against Lucille's arms, looking drained and pale.

The moment Casper stepped inside, he slammed his briefcase onto the cabinet by the door before storming up to me. His brows were furrowed, and his tone carried a deep, simmering rage.

"What the hell are you doing, Sabrina? I can't believe you threw Lucille and Baxter out of the house just to celebrate our wedding anniversary!

"Look at Baxter! He's sick, so how could you be so heartless?"

Comments flooded the screen.

"That's such a brilliant move! Lucille perfectly framed Sabrina and made Casper think she threw them out!"

"Casper is genuinely furious this time. He used to tolerate Sabrina, but he definitely won't anymore."

"Does Sabrina seriously think Casper is going to comfort her? In her dreams! He only cares about Lucille!"

"Get a divorce already and let Casper, Lucille, and Baxter reunite as a proper family of three."

I chuckled and calmly replied, "Is that what she told you? That I kicked her out?"

Lucille wiped her tears and choked out, "Don't be mad, Casper. This has nothing to do with Sabrina. I chose to take Baxter out myself because I didn't want to interrupt your anniversary celebration."

"Stop defending her, Lucille!" Casper snapped, then turned around to glare at me as his fury escalated.

"I'm telling the truth, am I not? Who else would've done that if not you?"

I shrugged and kept my tone perfectly calm. "Fine, let's just say I kicked her out. But since this is my house, am I not allowed to decide that I don't want her staying here?"

"How dare you!" Pointing at me, Casper was shaking all over in rage. "She's my late brother's wife, and now that he's gone, it's my responsibility to take care of her and Baxter. How can you treat my family like that?"

"Responsibility?" I looked up at him. My gaze was cold, and my voice was laced with sarcasm.

"Casper, dare you look me in the eye and honestly say that responsibility is all you feel for her?"

Lucille quickly stepped forward and clutched Casper's arm. Her eyes welled up with tears.

"Casper, Sabrina, please don't fight because of me. It's all my fault, and I shouldn't have come here to disrupt your lives.

"Sabrina, if you don't like Baxter and me, we won't ever come back. Please don't let us ruin your relationship."

"You did nothing wrong, so you don't have to leave," Casper gently murmured.

He caught Lucille's arm and whipped his head around to glare at me. "This is my house, and it's your home too, Lucille. No one is driving you out.

"Sabrina, if you keep acting unreasonably, don't blame me for what happens next."

The comments above Lucille's head exploded once more.

"Casper spoils Lucille so much! He's amazing!"

"Divorce! Divorce! Divorce!"

Just then, Casper's phone suddenly rang. He picked up the call, and after listening to a few sentences, his expression turned remarkably darker.

After he hung up, the rage in his eyes looked ready to erupt into flames.

"Was it you, Sabrina? Did you tell your dad not to help me secure that project?"

I slowly stood up, picked up the drafted divorce papers I had long prepared, and tossed them at him.

"Yes, it was me. We're getting a divorce, and I see no reason to help you anymore."

I paused, my eyes scanning Casper and Lucille's utterly dumbfounded expressions, and mockingly continued, "I'm only doing this so you can openly live as a family of three."
