Chapter 1

When I was studying abroad, I kept a dish washer.

She used to hang out with me when she wasn't in class, and she was obedient.

Three years later, my family business went into a tailspin, and I used my last bit of money to buy two plane tickets.

But she didn't come.

Later, she was taken home and became the daughter of a rich family.

She threw a handful of money at my face.

"I'll support you."

"No need!"

"You're welcome. I don't need this money."

At the charity dinner today, the cameras were all focused on Nora Wilson.

Watching her speaking so eloquently on the stage, I felt sadness.

"Ms. Wilson, I heard that you want to acquire the bankrupt Sinclair Group. Is that true?"

Nora glanced at the reporter who was asking questions in the audience. And she couldn't help but glance at me.

"Yes, but today is a charity dinner. Let's talk about other issues."

"I heard that Ms. Wilson returned from studying abroad and took over the company at a young age. You are truly a rising star in the business world! By the way, you have made a lot of contributions to your hometown at this charity dinner!"

But Nora did not lose herself in the flattery of the reporters.

"Knowledge can change one's destiny. I donate books to children in mountainous areas and build libraries for this purpose. I hope they can truly change their destiny through learning."

As the interview was coming to an end, a reporter asked a question that made her hesitate.

"I heard that Ms. Wilson lived in poverty before you were recognized by the Wilson family. You even relied on scholarships to study abroad. Was it your boyfriend who funded you a lot when you were studying for your master's degree?"

The reporter's malicious smile made me want to beat him up.

Before Nora could say anything, Paul Carter beside her could not stand it.

"I'm sorry. Ms. Wilson's fiancé has always been me. If you have any questions, you can come to me."

After saying this, he winked at his bodyguard.

The bodyguard understood what he meant and asked the reporter to leave after a while.

Nora watched this scene with a smile. She put her arm around Paul and looked very happy.

"They are a good match!"

I stood in the shadows with the tray.

After my family went bankrupt, I was forced to join the company of my father's enemy, and became a waiter, being ordered around by others.

Taking one look at my waiter's attire, I couldn't help but smile bitterly.

There was so much difference between Nora and me now, as if we are separated by a galaxy.

"Adrian, why are you just holding the plate? The guests over there need you. Go quickly!"

I touched my nose, suppressed my unhappiness, dealt with the guests, and bowed my head in front of them.

They were toasting each other, chatting and laughing, but I was in a daze again.

It was because I saw Nora walking towards me.

I was a little nervous and tried to avoid her, but someone blocked my way.

"You're such a weird waiter. The customer wants to drink. Why are you running away?"

The one who stopped me was not someone else but Paul.

I looked up and immediately lowered my head. "Sir, I'm sorry, but I don't have anything that the lady likes to drink on this plate."

A familiar yet strange voice sounded. "Honey, who are you talking to?"

I was shocked. She actually called him "honey."

She never called me that when she was dating me before.

She always obeyed me coldly and never was so gentle.

Fortunately, I pulled the brim of my hat down so she couldn't see my face.

"Miss, sir, excuse me. I'll go get a tequila instead."

I left that place as fast as I could, almost escaping. And when I reached the dining area, I finally couldn't pretend anymore.

I took off my hat and hated myself.

I hated myself for being incompetent!

I looked like a deserter!

But I didn't pay any attention to the person following me.

Chapter 2

It's Paul.

He stared at my face and suddenly laughed out loud.

"I wonder why you're afraid to let people see your face. It turns out you have such a long scar on your face!"

He laughed at me a few words, put his hands in his pockets and walked away.

It turned out that he was worried about me and followed me secretly.

It must be the way I was hiding from Nora just now that made him suspicious.

Whenever I thought of Nora, my heart started to ache.

I was feeling sad in secret when my supervisor noticed me and said, "I've been looking everywhere for you. But you're slacking off here!

"Go quickly. The Wilson family pays you, you have to work!"

He had an arrogant attitude and looked like a mean person.

But I couldn't turn against them now.

Sighing, I put the platter together and walked out of the kitchen.

Along the way, I tried to stay away from Nora and Paul.

After serving at the venue, my supervisor asked me to clean the bathroom.

"Go ahead, this is all arranged by the leaders."

Seeing my hesitation, he sneered, "Adrian, if you don't clean the toilet today, I will report it to the leader. Your dad's debts could grow."

"What?"

I was shaking with anger.

"What's wrong with me? Hurry up. Take the mop and clean the toilet!"

After saying that, he left.

I controlled my anger and went to the bathroom.

I didn't expect to hear a conversation.

"You said that Nora cares about that waiter?"

"Yeah, but I went to confirm it. It was a man with a scar on his face. It shouldn't be that boy."

"At the venue, that reporter had bad intentions, but I think Nora seemed to be avoiding him on purpose. Paul, the most unforgettable love for a woman is her first love! You have to be careful!"

"You don't know how much Nora hates that man. She mentioned that man to me and said that she had no choice at the time. Her mother was seriously ill at home, and she gave herself to that man in order to pay for tuition and to make a living!"

I was disappointed.

The three years I spent abroad were the happiest time of my life.

However, for Nora, it was a past that she did not want to mention.

She didn't love me. She even hated me!

She hated me. Even though she used the money I gave her to complete her studies, she still hated me!

I took a deep breath and closed my eyes.

They went on to say.

"Really? But after all, they used to be lovers."

"Humph, even if that man came back, what could he do? Tonight, I will make Nora pregnant!"

"Haha, this is a good trick! As long as she's pregnant, you're the head of the Wilson family! From now on, the Wilson family will be under your control!"

Chapter 3

I remembered the first time I met Nora was in a hotel.

It was a sushi restaurant.

After eating and drinking, I went to the bathroom, but I got lost and somehow ended up in the kitchen.

I was a little drunk at that time and saw a girl washing dishes.

I just wanted to tease her. I hugged her from behind and asked her to guess who I was.

Unexpectedly, she thought I was a pervert and threw the plate on my head.

I was knocked unconscious.

Later, when I was lying in the hospital, my friend winked at me and said that the girl wanted me to forgive her because she couldn't afford my medical expenses.

I thought about it, stared at her pretty face, and nodded, "Okay, I forgive you."

Being used to seeing beautiful women, I actually didn't find her charming.

But there was an indescribable beauty in her that attracted me.

During the days I was in the hospital, she took care of me all day and didn't go to work.

One day I woke up and found her reading a book about MBA.

I was wondering why she was reading this when she was obviously very poor. She was so poor that she had to wash dishes.

She bit her lip and said firmly.

"Because I want to make money with my knowledge."

At that moment, Nora sparkled in my eyes, and I was sure at once that I liked her!

I confessed to her, but she rejected me.

She said we were not the same kind of people.

I was anxious. "Why? We walk the same path! We read the same book and speak the same language. How can we not be the same kind of people?"

She sneered, "You have money, but I don't."

I almost blurted out.

"Then I'll support you!"

Her eyelashes trembled slightly. She bit her lip, but still refused.

Later, I found out that her mother was ill. I contacted a good friend and arranged for her mother to go to the hospital directly, waiving the surgery fees. After she answered the phone, she came to me.

I was very proud of myself and waited for her to praise me.

But I didn't expect that she slapped me!

"You're a jerk!

"Why don't you ask for my opinion? Why do you always arrange everything for me from a high position?"

I was also angry. "Nora, why are you so noble? If you continue to be so noble, your mother will be dead!"

I shouted at her, telling her off.

"Is it great to have a dream? Can you make sure that your family is not short of money? Do you have money to complete your studies? You are still studying business.

"An MBA isn't for people like you!"

She raised her head, with tears in her eyes, and was a little stunned.

But I was still angry and continued to attack her.

"Why would a poor person like you study for an MBA? You might as well study science and go home to be a teacher! Why do you want to follow us rich people and study business? Do you have the connections and resources?

"Are you stupid? I'm blaming you, but you didn't fight back!"

Nora had lost her spirit at that time. And the way she tried hard to hold back her tears made me feel a little distressed.

My tone softened.

"I'll support you, Nora. Follow me and you'll have a good life. You can also finish your studies. After graduation, you can join our company and be my secretary. Okay?"

Thinking of this, I couldn't help but smile bitterly.

Now, she had changed completely. She was no longer an illegitimate daughter, but a young lady of a wealthy family.

She took charge of the group at a young age and became a new business elite.

She had successfully realized her dream.

I wanted to congratulate her.

However, our identities and status were now reversed, as if God was deliberately playing a trick on me.

I didn't even deserve to congratulate her right now.

But I never thought about it.

Three years of my love and protection were shackles to her!

The day I received my diploma, my parents called me and told me that our family had gone bankrupt.

Because I hadn't had the habit of saving money in the past three years, the cash I had left was only enough to buy two plane tickets.

I asked Nora to come back with me. We would be able to find a good job with our diplomas.

My family went bankrupt, but it was better than her struggling alone abroad.

But she disappeared.

I boarded the plane alone.

That was the first time I experienced the pain of a broken heart.

Unexpectedly, Nora turned out to be a rich.

And the people who reported my father were actually her biological parents!

Should I hate her? I couldn't.

Sometimes I wondered if this was what life was like.

Everything had its own hidden price tag.

I lived a carefree life for the first twenty years of my life, and the rest of my life was very humble.

Because of the Wilson family's suppression, I had trouble finding a job.

Later they threatened me, saying that they had evidence that my father had framed them, and forced me to work for them.

I was reluctant, but had to accept it.

My parents had given a lot for me, and I should pay back their debts.
