Chapter 2
I turned my head and looked coldly at this man who claimed to be a top student who had returned from studying abroad as I questioned, “Mr. Nolan, do you think it's an honor to sleep with someone else's wife?”
Sergio Nolan acted unfazed by my sarcasm.
“Men, after all, are all about strength. What a coincidence that my strength is far superior to yours.
“You are incapable of controlling your wife. Who can you blame?”
Halfway through his words, Sergio suddenly laughed out loud, his eyes full of provocation as he challenged, “Mr. Winod, how about this?
“When Miss Rose and I enter the bridal chamber later, you stand by and watch. This way, your visit today won't be in vain.”
As soon as these words were spoken, Amanda beside him immediately lowered her head shyly.
A moment later, the two of them actually started kissing in front of me.
I suppressed my nausea and frowned, “That's enough!
“Now that Miss Rose has found the so-called Mr. Right, I don't want to force it any further. But, are you sure your Rose Family can afford the cost of this derailment?”
As soon as I finished speaking, the relatives of the Rose Family who came to the bridal chamber to make trouble became unhappy instantly and barked, “You stinky loser, who are you threatening?!”
“Our Rose Family is at least one of the most powerful families in this city, who do you think you are?”
“That's right, if he was really that capable, how could he be willing to marry into our Rose Family?”
“You're right. A man who can't even take care of his own wife is worse than a dog.”
The abuse from people around me was getting louder and louder, but I did not care at all.
Because there was not a trace of exaggeration in what I just said.
The Rose Group was able to grow from a small company with only a few people three years ago to a listed group with tens of thousands of employees today, all due to me, or rather, to the power behind me.
It had nothing to do with these Rose Family members who had no moral values.
When the Rose Group was on the verge of bankruptcy, Amanda's father, Lincoln Rose, traveled all the way from San Francisco to New York just to see me.
He knelt at the gate of my courtyard house for three days and three nights, holding a marriage certificate.
Seeing that he was sincere, I agreed because I felt soft-hearted.
But I never expected that after I quietly built up the Rose Group to its current status, in the end others would despise me as a waste.
At that time even my wife had run away with someone else.
Immediately, I decided to find Lincoln and ask him face to face whether his Rose Family was planning to turn against me.
If he continued to let Amanda continue to serve as chairman, I did not mind letting the Rose Family return to the way it was three years ago.
“Bryce, stop right there!” Just as I turned to leave, Amanda's voice came over. “Are you just going to leave like this?”
I paused and slowly turned around. “What? Could it be that Miss Rose also has a special fetish and needs someone to cheer you up?”
Amanda glared at me fiercely and spoke coldly, “Bryce, don't blame me for not reminding you. If you dare to step out of the door of my Rose Family today, I will divorce you immediately!”
I was silent for a moment, then sighed softly before answering, “Miss Rose, I'm afraid you've wanted to divorce me for a long time.”
As I said this, I glanced around the room and spoke coldly, “All of you Rose Family members who are living off the Rose Group and waiting to die, listen to me clearly.
“Whoever dares to stop me today will bear the consequences!”
As soon as I finished speaking, the scene was boiling again.
Everyone's face was filled with anger and they all rolled up their sleeves, prepared to fight.
Chapter 3
Several people who were close to me on a normal day also chose to distance themselves from me.
Was this the quality of the Rose Family?
At that time, it seems that three years was too fast for the Rose Family to grow to its current size.
Seeing that I had enemies everywhere, Sergio’s face was broken with laughter and mocked, “Mr. Winod, do you even hear yourself?
“In all of San Francisco, the Rose Group stands at the very top. And you—just a lowly son-in-law—think you can bring down the entire Rose Family?
“What a laughable fantasy!”
I smiled and looked at him calmly as I challenged, “What if what I'm saying is true?”
Sergio raised his eyebrows with a look of contempt and did not take what I said seriously at all.
“Sir, even Miss Rose doesn't want you anymore, how can you still be so arrogant in front of the shareholders?”
I shook my head slightly, trying hard not to laugh out loud as I responded, “Sergio, I'm different from you. I work hard and never rely on women.”
Before I could finish my words, the place exploded.
“You stinking loser, who do you think you are? How dare you threaten our shareholders?”
“That's right, people who don't know you would think you're so awesome, but you're just a useless gigolo.”
“If you don't apologize to everyone today, don't even think about leaving the Rose Family alive!”
They were talking and mocking me at the same time and they seemed very excited.
Being a good businessman, keen insight was a basic skill.
The moment I stepped through the door, I could sense the undercurrent. Shareholders and assistants exchanging glances, whispering suggestively, deliberately fanning the flames of scandal between Amanda and me.
It was obvious. They had orchestrated this together well in advance.
Their real goal today was not about right or wrong, it was to drive me out of the Rose Family, replace me with Sergio and carve up the benefits among themselves.
It was a pity that the new chairman of the Rose Group was still in the dark and had no idea that her company was in crisis.
Even I, the boss behind the scenes, could not stand watching this scene.
“If I'm not mistaken, you guys should know Sergio, right?”
As soon as I finished speaking, someone in the crowd immediately confessed.
“What the hell are you talking about, you little bastard? We have nothing to do with Sergio.”
“That's right, we just think you're not worthy of Miss Rose, so we stand up to support him.”
“You're absolutely right. A loser like him who only knows how to live off others must not be allowed to stay in our Rose Family!”
I glanced at them coldly and spoke slowly, “Everyone, I fully understand your eagerness to kick me out of the Rose Family, but…."
Halfway through my speech, I suddenly raised my voice and my expression became much more serious, "I'm the kind of person who responds to kindness, not threats. If you’re willing to get on your knees and beg, who knows, maybe I’ll actually say yes."
My sudden burst of momentum frightened these shareholders and they were afraid to speak.
However, Sergio, who was standing nearby, relied on the chairman's favor and stood up bravely as he barked, “Mr. Winod, I already gave you enough face, didn’t I?
“You’re just a lowly son-in-law in the Rose Family, how dare you lecture the shareholders of our company? Don't you want to live anymore?”
As he spoke, he suddenly turned to look at Amanda beside him, his eyes shining.
“Miss Rose, if you love me, divorce this loser. I promise you that I will do my best to assist you and make the Rose Group flourish.”
Chapter 4
I did not say anything to stop him, I just stood there quietly and watched him perform.
If Amanda decisively refuses, I would consider letting the Rose Family go.
But if she was stubborn and insisted on divorcing me, then it was not my fault.
After a while, Amanda slapped her thigh suddenly and said, “Okay, I'll listen to you!
“All the shareholders are here today, I want to completely distance myself from this piece of trash, after all.”
Before everyone could react, Amanda quickly turned around and looked at me in sneer, “Bryce, let's get a divorce.”
I looked at her expressionlessly, speaking in a neutral tone, “Amanda, have you really thought it through?”
Faced with Amanda's provocations again and again, I not only did not choose to break up with her, but instead I tolerated her again and again.
It was not that I could not bear to do so, but because I promised Lincoln that I would never abandon the Rose Family no matter what.
But all I got in return was endless ridicule.
Amanda snorted softly and looked at me with disgust, “Bryce, you're clinging to me like a piece of shit. Don't you just want money?
“I can satisfy you today, as long as you agree to divorce me and you can name your own price.”
I sighed deeply before responding, “No need. I believe your Rose Group will go bankrupt in no time.
“I don't want you to cry and beg me to pay you back.”
As I said this, I suddenly changed the subject and stared at her as I advised, “Amanda, let me give you one last piece of advice. The assistant next to you is not a good person. He approaches you for a purpose.”
Amanda thought I was deliberately trying to sow discord between her and her assistant and her expression changed immediately.
“Bryce, don't think I don't know what you're thinking.”
“It's not your turn to judge me, Amanda's man.”
It was not until I heard what Amanda said that the only good impression I had left of the Rose Family disappeared completely.
I was just a little curious about what her expression would be when the truth came out.
“Okay. Since you are so sure that your choice is right, I will not persuade you any more. I can divorce you, but only after I call your father.”
Amanda thought I was just finding an excuse to keep her and she looked very proud of herself.
“Bryce, don't blame me for not telling you in advance. No matter who you ask to persuade me, I am going to divorce you today.”
Before she could finish her words, I waved my hand and cut her off, “Okay, your words are enough.”
After saying that, I took out my cell phone and called Lincoln.
“Hello, I'm Bryce.”
It was my voice that he heard on the other end of the line and his tone was extremely cautious. After all, he was the only one in the entire Rose Family who knew the strength behind me.
“Mr. Winod, what’s the matter?”
I glanced at the couple holding hands across from me and spoke coldly, “Lincoln, from now on, your Rose Family has nothing to do with me anymore.”
Then, there was the sound of a cup falling to the ground from the other end of the phone.
“Mr. Winod... Mr. Winod, is it my daughter…?"
I was about to speak when Sergio impatiently snatched the phone away and said, “Mr. Rose, I'm Miss Rose's assistant.
“Bryce is a loser who is not worthy of your daughter. Please don't be so stubborn as to keep him in the Rose Family.
“As long as you agree to let me and Miss Rose be together, I promise to take the Rose Group to the next level.”
I could feel Lincoln's anger through the phone screen.
“You are the one who forced my daughter to divorce Mr. Winod?”
Sergio did not know who he had offended at the moment and still said nonchalantly, “Yes, that's me.
“Across all of San Francisco, only I am truly worthy of Miss Rose. Bryce is nothing but worthless trash. Without him holding them back, the Rose Family would thrive like never before.”
After saying this, he threw my phone to the ground and even stomped on it a few times.
My goodness, I had seen many warriors, but I had never seen someone as fearless as him.
“Okay, now that you've made the call, it's time to fulfill your promise.”
Sergio put his arm around my wife and handed me a divorce agreement with the other hand.
“I have already prepared all the materials for you, please sign them quickly,” he ordered me without fear.
Looking at the stack of documents on the desk, my previous guess was further confirmed.
It was obvious that this man wanted to step on me to get to the top.
I did not know why, but when I saw Amanda take the divorce agreement without hesitation, I almost jumped up with excitement.
The moment she signed, the door of the Rose Estate was suddenly pushed open.
A middle-aged man with an extraordinary temperament walked in breathlessly.
The scene suddenly fell into dead silence and everyone present was so frightened that they dared not breathe.
The moment the man appeared, Amanda immediately ran towards him.
“Dad, you came at the right time. Let me introduce you to my new boyfriend.”
