Chapter 5

In the previous life, Terry's family hurt people and many innocent people were affected, but she was the only one who stood up.

As a result, the little girl's hand was cut and she would never see medical treatment again.

She was a real doctor, but she should not stop there.

I looked at Pierre and said with a smile, “You’re right. This does relieve my burden. In this case, I will take my new assistant out for dinner today and leave work early.”

Pierre was relieved to see that I was so easy to talk to, but he was a little worried. He looked at me and said, “Estella, there's something going on at the bureau."

I nodded sympathetically then said, “Okay, go and handle it.”

Of course, I knew that he wanted to stay and give Bethany some advice. After all, Bethany's professional quality was questionable.

After all, in our school, Bethany was once my senior, but she just delayed her graduation for a few years.

She even had problems graduating, let alone learn medical skills.

Looking at a group of patients who were ecstatic as if they had met a savior, I could not help but feel sarcastic.

I wanted to see how a doctor who did not even recognize the complete structure of the human body dared to boast that she could cure the first patient with intracranial vascular sclerosis in the country.

I started to make health tea in the office as Stella asked, “Senior, are you really not going to do anything?

“We don't have any patients and you are the authority on intracranial neurology.”

Just like in my previous life, some patients began to record the process of me rejecting Terry's family. So at that time, more and more people were saying that I was a poisonous doctor.

Compared to Bethany, who was beautiful and had a sweet voice, I naturally became the target of criticism.

Sure enough, the Dean found me. I looked at Bethany behind her and a look of understanding flashed across my eyes.

“Dr. Estella, the number of patients you have cured in the past few months is not even half of Bethany's. Although you were specially hired by the former Dean, our hospital relies on strength. It is very difficult for us to do this.

“Hospitals are not charities. you know that. The patients have a lot of complaints about you as you can see."

The Dean took out his cell phone and the video of me refusing treatment had been played over tens of millions of times.

All the comments were insulting and there was no mention of Terry's family's attitude at all.

“A doctor like this does not care about people's lives. Who would dare to let her treat patients?”

“Doesn’t she know if making dirty money will make your whole family die!”

I watched this video with a cold eye and I remember it clearly.

Not long after the argument with Terry, Pierre walked out of there.

The Dean continued, “Dr. Estella, society now attaches great importance to this matter and our hospital also needs to make a living.

“We are considering canceling all your performance awards this year, as well as. your eligibility for selection as Professor of Neurology.”

“Dean Marsh, I understand that you want to pave the way for Bethany. But you should wear a hat that fits your head. Don't let the loss outweigh the gain and ruin your life,” I said proudly.

I looked at the photo on Dean Marsh's desk, turned around and slammed the door shut.

Dean Marsh had been trying to drive me away for a long time.

I refused to use his imported medicines and recommended equipment and I refused to accept the surgery he collaborated with there. I was not the one who really made the dirty money.

Dean Marsh looked at my back as I left and took a deep breath as he said to her daughter, “Bethany, I can only help you up to this point.

“You must seize this opportunity. You are such a fool to make such a big fuss about this!”

Chapter 6

“Everyone is paying close attention to this matter. Fortunately, Loyd's illness is not serious, but I am worried. Estella was recommended by the former Dean and her vision is never wrong.

“You should find a way to get Loyd out of the hospital as soon as possible. What happens to him after he is discharged has nothing to do with us.”

There was a hint of solemnity in Dean Marsh's words. For some reason, he always felt that things were not that simple.

But he had checked with all the doctors in the hospital and found that Loyd's migraine was indeed caused by a cold.

But could his little girl really be as good as Estella who had decades of clinical experience?

He snorted coldly. This hospital did not need capable people, just people who listened to him.

Bethany's eyes flashed with a hint of darkness as she responded, “Dad, don't worry, Estella is very famous in school.

“I just cannot stand her condescending attitude. If you don't root out the weeds, they will grow again in the spring breeze.”

The purpose was to make a big fuss so that I could no longer be a doctor.

There was a hint of malice in Bethany's eyes. After all, when she was interning in college, many people compared her to me.

The comparison was like sky and ground.

But that time, she wanted to trample me hard under her feet.

When I got home, I packed my things.

However, to my surprise, when I was halfway through packing, Pierre suddenly turned back.

“Estella, you have been free for a while, why do you keep going out? You don't have to work so hard. I can support you.”

After all, no matter how busy I was at work, I would always find time to come back and take good care of him.

But that time, I seldom go home. Every day I either spend time in the library or in the university laboratory.

Men were such an animal who could not be ignored, so did Pierre.

I looked at Pierre and said lightly, “During this period of time, I plan to move back to the school laboratory.”

“Estella, I've already told you that Bethany is our junior schoolmate, why are you thinking so much?” Pierre explained with pleading eyes, “Sometimes she's too busy, so I help her see a few patients. You know Bethany is not as good as you."

I looked at him as I gave him an analogy, “This society truly is a place where the strong and those with power are always seen as right, no matter how wrong they are, isn’t it?

“Pierre, let's break up. Bethany is too weak to take care of herself. She needs you more than I do!”

In my previous life, Pierre and I wanted to get married. I devoted myself to my work and family, but he was adamant and refused to get married.

Until I died, Bethany said that she would take care of him in my place. It was natural for the scumbag and the bitch to be together.

Later I found out that Pierre stayed by my side just to squeeze in at the critical moment and let me become a stepping stone for Bethany to become the gold medal doctor.

Being with me was also arranged by Dean Marsh.

When he saw that I refused to collude with them, he wanted to get rid of me. It was like a snake that could not be warmed up, ready to bite me back at any time.

Seeing me dragging the suitcase resolutely, even if he said all the nice things, I still refused to give in.

“Aren't you blaming me for helping Bethany take care of the patients?” he argued. “It was you who misjudged the patient. Bethany and I were cleaning up the mess for you.

“Estella, I did not expect not only you to be ungrateful, but you're also confusing right and wrong?”

I looked at him with a half-smile as I questioned, “Don't you know who is not a good doctor and who is confusing right and wrong?”

Pierre looked at me, his face full of dissatisfaction with me.

“Estella, you know we are both medical workers!”

Chapter 7

“I am now in the rising stage of my career. You women will have children in the future, so you don't have to work so hard,” he continued his insult, then adding some beautiful words as always, “Intracranial Neurology Departments often perform high-intensity surgeries, so I feel sorry for you.

“Have you ever thought that you will be a wife and a mother in the future?”

Before I answered, he added, “Don't you like flowers? Please be obedient. I don't want you to work so hard. Just open a flower shop, I will support it.”

“We’ll get the marriage certificate in a few days. Don't you want a child? Why don't we have one tonight?”

As he said everything he had in his mind, I looked at him with a hint of coldness in my eyes.

He actually planned to use the child as leverage, to force me into giving up my career. That child was not the fruit of our love, but a chain he forged to bind me in place, for the sake of another woman.

What a touching love story.

“No need, you and Bethany can have the child,” I said. Then, I just remembered something, so I added, “Ah, haven't you noticed these days that she's pregnant?

“The baby in her belly needs you as a father even more.”

A twist flashed across Pierre's eyes. Damn it, he actually ignored it these days.

However, even though he and Bethany had slept together before, they had always taken precautions.

I smiled sarcastically. Bethany was in such a hurry to gild herself, of course, for fame, so that she could be with her rich lover.

Bethany and Pierre hired some internet trolls to hype up the popularity of my video that day.

However, someone noticed something was wrong.

“This child's eyes are bulging. Is his intraocular pressure a bit high?”

“If it’s influenza, won't it cause the meridians to bulge?”

“He's been on IV drip for several days. It's unreasonable to use such strong antibiotics on a child.”

Loyd's illness gradually attracted everyone's attention.

Especially after he fainted again, it quickly attracted the attention of the society.

But Bethany did not panic. She knew that with a few seniors around, she was sure she could cure it.

She guessed I specially asked someone to brush these. After all, there were no patients in my office these days. So, she thought, it was a fatal blow to me who had a successful college life.

She sent a little money to the netizen group and soon the comments were drowned out again.

The haters cursed me in the comment section and many even sent me dead rats and burned down my house in my hometown.

Fortunately, I had arranged for my parents in advance and brought them to the school apartment.

My eyes darkened. According to calculations, it would still be in time for Loyd to undergo surgery.

If a few more days pass, even the best doctor would not be able to save him.

I was scrolling through my phone out of boredom, when someone sat down in front of me.

“Dr. Estella, please help me."

There was a well-behaved girl sitting in the woman's arms, but when I saw her, I could not help but jump up.

This girl's illness was actually, no, it was exactly the same as Loyd’s.
