Chapter 1
My body was smashed into pieces due to the fall from a high altitude.
Several policemen came. They all looked at me seriously.
The case quickly attracted the attention of various media.
Soon, Jocelyn came.
She came in a hurry, wearing a birthday hat to celebrate Tristan's birthday.
She seemed to be strange in this place.
Jocelyn was different from those policemen. She just looked at me and went to vomit nearby.
It turned out that she would feel disgusted when I died, even if she hated me.
Soon, I was taken back for criminal investigation.
My body was pieced together by four forensic experts.
They worked together for three days and two nights.
My body finally looked like a human's.
However, they just couldn't put my head together.
The skull was so badly damaged that it could no longer be pieced together.
Someone pushed me down from the 20th floor.
Then, my skull was hit hard by a big hammer.
Even if a miracle-working doctor came, he could do nothing helpful.
Jocelyn had been in the police station for three days, and she couldn't celebrate Tristan's birthday.
She must hate me very much.
"Jocelyn, can you draw it?"
Jocelyn was here.
She gently touched my head.
My body was covered in wounds, and only one eye was intact.
My eyes were exactly like Jocelyn's, so Jocelyn hated my eyes the most.
I believed she could recognize me.
Jocelyn touched my skull and answered in the affirmative, "No problem."
Konner, a police officer, said, "The victim should be between 20 and 22 years old. Judging from the tissue damage, we believe she suffered inhuman torture before her death. It might last at least 12 hours."
Regina, a female forensic expert, added, "The left eyeball is intact, and the right eyeball is pierced by an iron stick. The fatal blow was in the victim's head. It was probably a blunt object, such as a hammer or an iron ball. It will be a lot of work to draw a portrait of the victim. Jocelyn, you have to work hard these days."
"They are so ruthless. Don't worry. I will definitely draw her appearance."
Regina suddenly remembered something. "The victim's ten finger bones are missing, and we are still looking for them. The criminals must have tortured her in a cruel way."
Konner looked at Jocelyn and said, "You have to be in the police station these days. Call Theresa first. Otherwise, she will be worried."
I was excited. Jocelyn would call me.
You would know that the person lying on the slab was me.
"No need. She is not qualified to know my schedule."
"You'd better call her. The criminal has not been caught yet. Tell Theresa not to run around during these days."
Jocelyn laughed sarcastically.
Chapter 2
"No matter who is in trouble, nothing will happen to her. No one is more timid than her. I just hope she doesn't cause any trouble for me. Even if she dies, she'd better stay far away from me."
I thought, “Jocelyn, I cannot stay far away from you.
I'm right next to you.”
"After all these years, can't you still forget what had happened?"
"My mother lost her legs in order to save her, but she didn't even shed a tear or say a word. She is a demon. A cold-blooded monster like her shouldn't be alive. I feel sick every time I see those eyes that look like mine."
Jocelyn suddenly turned around and looked at me.
Had she remembered anything?
Had she recognized my eyes?
However, she looked at the iron stick next to me.
"She is only in her early twenties. If possible, I would rather have that inhuman monster lying here."
Every time Jocelyn mentioned me, she was full of hatred.
This time, I finally made her happy.
It was because the person lying there was me, her sister.
As for my mother, I felt guilty and afraid.
I didn't know how to face my mother. She had both legs amputated to save me.
Every night, I beat my legs in self-blame.
Why wasn't I the one who had the legs amputated?
Before I died, those men came to my home and wanted to see Jocelyn frequently.
They look ferocious and scary.
They were going to wait for Jocelyn on the road.
I was so scared that Jocelyn would meet them.
Therefore, I lied and said I was Jocelyn.
They didn't know what Jocelyn looked like, so they mistook me for her.
They took me into their van.
I was scared.
I thought they would, at most, teach me a lesson, but I didn't expect to be unable to come back.
Jocelyn remembered something and went out with her phone.
She went to call Tristan.
"Tristan, don't run around during these day. Be cautious all the time, OK?
"Be good. I'll buy you Lego when I get home."
The house is full of Tristan's Legos.
I wished Jocelyn could love me once.
However, she hated me. She hated me so much.
She didn't know I had died to save her.
If she knew, she must feel even more disgusted.
She would hate me to death.
Jocelyn locked herself in the room.
She changed her sketch paper one after another.
I saw it. It looked like me.
That was my eye.
Why did Jocelyn only draw an eye on each piece of paper and throw it away?
It was drawn so similarly.
One night, the walls of the 100-square-feet room were covered with portraits.
However, none of them was of me.
When Konner came in, he looked around.
Finally, he looked at a pile of drafts next to the easel.
There was an eye on every one of them.
That was me.
"Why is there only one eye on each of them?"
“I drew them wrong.”
Jocelyn was the best criminal sketch artist in the city.
How could she draw it wrong?
Suddenly, Konner put one of the drafts next to Jocelyn's face.
"What's wrong?"
Konner dragged Jocelyn in front of the mirror.
"Look! Isn't this eye exactly the same as yours?"
Konner became serious. "I remember Theresa's eyes look the same as yours."
Chapter 3
Jocelyn tore the draft into pieces.
"Stop joking. I've stayed up for a few nights, and I'm tired."
Konner was not going to let her go. "Where's Theresa? Call her and let her know. Things have been strange these days. I hope nothing will happen to her."
"Don't worry. She goes to school and home every day. What can happen to her? I will draw another one after having a good rest."
Jocelyn went out with her cup to get some water.
A colleague greeted Jocelyn, "Jocelyn, happy birthday."
"Jocelyn, are you done with your work? Let's have dinner together tonight."
Jocelyn forgot her birthday.
Konner went out immediately.
He thought it was me.
Every year, I waited at the door with a cake.
Even though Jocelyn never accepted it, I did that every year.
"Jocelyn, why didn't Theresa come to send you a cake this year? I asked you to call Theresa. Did you call?"
Konner was nervous.
Jocelyn drank water and held up her phone to show Konner.
There was a text message sent by me.
[Jocelyn, happy birthday. I wish you happiness every day.]
Konner finally breathed a sigh of relief.
Jocelyn snorted and deleted the message.
"She's always so clingy and annoying. When will she stop bothering me?"
Jocelyn, I would never bother you again.
That was my last scheduled message.
My hands were covered in blood at the time, and I knew that Jocelyn would have her birthday.
I couldn't celebrate her birthday this year.
So, before I died, I hastily edited the scheduled message.
"You are family. Let bygones be bygones. She is your sister."
"She is not my sister, let alone my family. I'm going to get some sleep first."
When Jocelyn woke up, it was dark.
She walked around outside, looking around from time to time.
What was she looking for?
Konner came over with documents. "Jocelyn, hasn't Theresa come yet? Can you give her a call?"
"It's best if she doesn't come. I have to go to work."
This time, Konner held Jocelyn arm.
He looked so serious that Jocelyn had to call me.
There came the prompt voice. "Sorry! The subscriber you dialed is power off."
Jocelyn looked up at Konner.
"I told you she would only cause me trouble. She has turned off her phone and refused to answer my call. She is just blaming me for not replying to her messages. She'd better never turn on her phone."
Yes, my phone would never turn on again.
"By the way, it's been four days. Has no one claimed the body yet?"
Konner shook his head. "Not yet."
"What on earth is her mother doing? Hasn't the family noticed that their child is missing? Forget it. I'll go and paint the portrait."
Jocelyn went in hurriedly.
Jocelyn, my family is you.
About two hours later, Konner rushed in.
Jocelyn was so scared that the pencil in her hand broke.
"You scared me. What happened?"
Jocelyn's painting finally made a breakthrough.
Jocelyn drew my other eye.
She was awesome.
"Did you get through to Theresa on the phone?"
"No, what's wrong?"
