Chapter 2

In a high-end restaurant, Eric was drinking with a group of friends.

He was slightly drunk, leaning on the chair with a blurred look in his eyes.

"I've told you, she definitely doesn't want to get divorced, so why didn't you go to City Hall a few days ago?"

He poured another glass of wine and handed it over, "Mick, you should admit defeat for the bet. Give me 20,000 dollars, consider it as a gift for meeting my new wife."

But Mick didn't respond, and he didn't realize that he accidentally spilled the wine.

Mick stood up abruptly, holding the wine bottle and heavily knocking on the table.

"The one who loves his wife will prosper, while the one who harms his wife will not gain any wealth."

"Do you think you win just because you won the bet? You lost, completely lost!"

Mick took his clothes and left. The door closed heavily, but Eric's eyes cleared for a moment and then returned to normal.

The people around were mocking and saying that Mick couldn't afford to play and had a strange temper for no reason.

But only I knew that it's not like that.

Mick was a very good-tempered person.

Eric and I started from scratch. At that time, I didn't care about money or his appearance and figure.

He said he had grand ambitions and hoped that I could support him, asking if I was willing to be with him.

In the early days of the company, Mick from the same village joined us to support us.

At the beginning, he and I ran the business during the day and entertained clients at night.

Long-term drinking and irregular work schedule had caused serious damage to my body, making it impossible for me to work at high intensity.

But fortunately, our efforts were not been in vain, and our company saw the light in the second year.

After that, the output value became unstoppable.

It could be said that Mick had witnessed everything for us.

He was replacing me, which is not worth it.

I instantly had tears in my eyes, but when I reached out to wipe them, I found that I couldn't wipe them away.

He was right.

I died.

Chapter 3

Until late at night, Eric left in a drunken state.

After saying goodbye to all his friends, he called his assistant to pick him up.

But when he got on the car, I noticed that the new assistant was a man.

Presumably, it was to prove something to Lisa.

When the company's business increased, he wanted to hire an assistant.

I suggested hiring a capable male employee, so I could feel at ease.

After several rounds of interviews, Lisa was chosen.

Lisa was indecisive and even lacked her own opinions when doing things.

She couldn't make up her mind and often called Eric for advice.

At first, Eric was always impatient and annoyed that she lacked a sense of propriety and called him at inappropriate times.

After a while, he started praising Lisa's progress in front of me, but her dressing style was always outdated and made people laugh.

He said it didn't fit the company's image and bought her some professional attire.

I realized something was wrong and hinted that he should change to a new assistant.

He understood, but he was unwilling to do so.

"We should give the newbies a chance.

I didn't mention it again.

I thought we had gone through thick and thin together and I knew him the best.

Until Lisa came to me with a pregnancy test report, "Let him go, he really wants a child."

I just realized the man lying beside me was no longer the Eric I knew.

I had to accept the fact that he cheated.

I asked him to accompany me back to my hometown in the countryside. After that, I agreed to divorce.

I didn't intend to keep him, I just wanted to do things from start to finish.

He didn't want to, saying he had social engagements and had no time to accompany me to share my sorrow.

Before he hung up the phone, I heard Lisa's coquettish voice.

I went alone, but I didn't expect to be knocked unconscious by a vagrant and taken into a church.

I never expected that I, who had been beautiful all my life, would die so miserably.

I comforted myself, maybe it was God punishing me for my bad luck in meeting people.

Chapter 4

The car drove to a villa that I had never seen before.

Over the years, Eric had invested a lot in real estate and bought villas with money.

But with so many properties, I had no impression of this property.

"Open the door."

He pressed the doorbell, and the door was quickly opened by Lisa.

She helped him in, poured water for him to wash face, and loosened his tie.

"Don't drink so much in the future, okay?" Lisa leaned against him like a docile little cat.

He gently rubbed her belly with his hand, "I know, I'm going to be a dad!"

Lisa grinned, "Only six more months, and you'll be a dad! When are you getting divorced?"

Eric's eyes darkened, "She didn't go to City Hall the other day, and I happened to be busy, so I didn't contact her again."

"She's probably still angry. I'll go talk to her in a few days."

"I don't care. You have to get divorced soon. Whether you give her money or a house, you have to get divorced!"

I looked at the two of them coldly, wanting to rush over and slap them a few times.

But I knew it would be in vain.

After coaxing Lisa to sleep, Eric left.

He lit a cigarette and flipped through his phone with one hand.

The screen was showing the chat records between me and him

The last record was three days ago, when I asked him if he could go back to my hometown with me.

He replied simply, "No, I don't have time to play house with you."

He took a deep breath and choked on the smoke. His bangs covered his eyebrows and eyes, making it hard to see his expression.

He stayed for a while and finally put his phone back in his pocket.

But when I looked up, I saw his eyes slightly red.

Perhaps he felt guilty for speaking to me so coldly.

After all, we had been married for more than ten years, weathering the storms together, and never even thought of breaking up, even in the most difficult times.

Even a stone, after accompanying for decades, one would have some feelings for it.

But if he knew that my death had something to do with him,

What would he think?
