Chapter 3

When I said that, he scoffed and said, “You must be out of your mind. You’re getting so worked up about the money. You want to scam a rich dude, is that it?

“Everyone knows that old Nimgo of yours is worth maybe two hundred thousand or three hundred thousand dollars at best. I offered you five hundred thousand dollars, and you’re still not satisfied?

“Let me tell you something. This behavior is considered blackmail. I’m sure you know that’s illegal. Don’t think I don’t know the law.”

People who were standing around started to chime in. “Buddy, take what you can get. That car of yours is worth two hundred thousand or three hundred thousand dollars. If he’s willing to give you five hundred thousand dollars, just take it and move on. Don’t get greedy.”

“Yeah. Don’t end up getting nothing after all this. Plus, if he sues you for making false claims, you’ll lose big time.”

At this point, an appraisal manager from a Nimgo dealership approached us.

“Who said this Nimgo is only worth two or three hundred thousand? This is a top-tier luxury car worth tens of millions. Just the headlight alone costs more than several hundred thousand.”

Jason’s face went pale when he heard that, but he still kept his composure.

The crowd went quiet for a moment and then changed their tune.

“Oh, so he’s the real rich guy. He’s really keeping a low profile.”

“Yeah, the truly wealthy are always low-key. Unlike some kids who think they’re all that just because they’re driving a Valterra.”

“That’s right. Maybe that Valterra isn’t even his. And now, he’s wrecked someone’s million-dollar car. Good luck paying for it.”

The appraiser finished and reported to me, “Mr. Duke, your car’s been seriously damaged. Repairing it will cost almost as much as a new car, so it’s really not worth fixing.”

I nodded and looked at Jason. “Pay up. Ten million. Not a cent less.”

Jason’s cocky attitude had waned, but he still tried to argue. He said, “You’re just making stuff up. Did you hire someone to con me?

“You’re just trying to commit fraud. I’m going to report you!”

I pulled out the purchase invoice and showed it to him.

“Take a good look. Do you think I’m conning you?”

After he looked at the invoice, he seemed a little shaken, but his smug expression quickly returned.

He pulled out a black premium card and waved it in front of me.

“It’s ten million? What of it? I’ve got thirty million on this card. I’ll pay you.”

Someone in the crowd gasped. “Whoa! That’s a top-tier black card. Only billionaires can get one. This guy’s loaded too.”

“He’s so young and already worth a billion. That’s crazy.”

Everyone’s praises made him even more arrogant, and he started showing off his card.

But he had no idea that card was actually a secondary card I gave my wife. If I called the bank and asked them to freeze the card, it would be completely useless.

After I told the bank to freeze the card, I looked at him and said, “Stop showing off. You’re not fooling anyone. I bet there’s not even a hundred thousand on that card.”

He immediately snapped, “Give me your account number, and I’ll transfer the money. If I manage to do it, I’ll make you regret it.”

I gave him the number and let him try.

He tried several times, but the card was disabled.

The crowd started mocking him.

“Another fake rich kid. That black card is probably maxed out anyway.”

“He can’t even pay, but he still insists on putting on a show. If you can’t pay, just admit it.”

Jason started sweating. He rushed behind his car to make a call.

A moment later, Amy called me.

“Marlin, what happened to my card? Why’s it not working? Tell the bank to reactivate it. Also, raise the card’s limit to one hundred million. I need it.”

I replied calmly, “Why do you suddenly need that much money? What’re you planning to do?”

“I have my reasons. Don’t ask so many questions. Just do it!”

I pressed my lips together and hung up on her.

It was my fault for letting her do whatever she wanted all these years. That was why she had gotten this out of hand.

For the past ten years, because of special circumstances, I stayed out of the spotlight and let her run Golden Sea Group for me. I never expected her to cheat on me behind my back. It seemed she had really forgotten her place.

She thought that being a watchdog meant Golden Sea Group belonged to her.

After I hung up, Amy sent several messages in a row, but I ignored them.

A little later, Jason held up his phone. He showed off a transaction record that said someone had just transferred ten million dollars to him. He looked at me smugly. “Listen, my wife is worth billions. You think you can’t get your measly ten million?”

Then, he transferred the ten million to me.

“I sent you the money. Now, can you get lost?”

He pointed at the transfer confirmation and raised his voice.

I snorted. “You’ve only paid for one car. What about the other?”

Everyone froze.

Jason’s face twisted with anger. “Are you crazy, or do you just love conning people? When did I hit two of your cars?”

I pointed at the Valterra. “That car’s mine too. It’s worth three million. Pay up.”

The crowd was stunned.

“Did the crash disorient him?”

“Seems likely. Otherwise, why wouldn’t he recognize his own car?”

Jason exploded. He shouted, “You’ve lost your mind, haven’t you?”

I ignored his ranting and pulled out the Valterra's registration information. I held it out for him to see.

“See for yourself. Is this car mine or not?”

Jason picked up the document and, after confirming my photo, looked shocked, then furious.

“My wife bought that car for me as a birthday present! How could it be yours? You must’ve done something shady. You’re trying to con me!

“Do you think you can push me around so easily? My wife is Amy Parker, head of Golden Sea Group. She’s on her way. Let’s see how she’ll deal with you!”

When everyone heard that Jason’s wife was Amy Parker, the famous head of Golden Sea Group, their faces changed.

“Amy Parker from Golden Sea Group is this guy’s wife? That’s huge. Around here, nobody dares to cross Golden Sea Group.”

“Buddy, you should take what you have and walk away. You might have some money, but you can’t mess with Golden Sea Group. Just leave.”

Jason noticed that I had kept silent. He thought I was scared after hearing about Golden Sea Group. He sneered, “What? Getting scared? Too late for that!

“When my wife gets here, she’ll destroy your company. Let’s see if you can keep up the tough act.”

I smiled. “Let’s wait and see.”

Just then, a fleet of cars arrived. A dignified woman got out of a fancy car, with several bodyguards trailing her.

Jason’s eyes lit up. “My wife’s here. Just wait and see what happens to you.”
