Chapter 2
"Say it again?"
Selena's face stiffened. She picked up the resignation letter, glanced at it hastily, and tore it up.
At this moment, I only felt calm. Then I put on my shoes and repeated it again.
"Anyway, from today on, I am no longer your assistant. It's over between us."
There was silence for a few seconds, until Selena said with a stern face,
"What new trick are you playing again?
Don't think that I will try to keep you stay."
I packed up my belongings in silence. After a few years, I found that only a few things that belonged to me.
She watched my actions, took off the mask and stood up.
"Okay, Walt, you're really something!
Fine, let's see what job you can find without me. Don't forget that I'm the one supporting you now."
My hand paused, thinking about the salary she gave me every month,
500 dollars per month, without social insurance.
"Was I so love-struck before?"
Then I sped up and quickly packed my things. When I walked to the door with my suitcase, Selena seemed to have just realized that I was serious.
"Fine, if you leave, don't come back again. If you have the guts, don't regret and come back to find me later!"
She threw me an angry and resentful look, then quickly slammed the door and went into the bedroom.
It was late at night, I stood at the door with my suitcase, and dialed the phone that I hadn't called in a long time.
"Dad, I want to go home."
Chapter 3
My father on the other end of the phone remained silent for a long time, his voice still full of magnetism,
"If you're tired, just come back. There's no need to make a phone call in advance."
After I hung up the phone. I took a taxi and left the place where I had lived for three years.
In the middle of the night, Todd was awakened by me. He was the only friend, who knew my father was rich. At this point, he was still a bit confused.
"What's going on? Did Selena kick you out of her house?"
I forced a smile and said, "I guess so."
He knew more or less about how I had been doing these years through the news. At this moment, he patted my shoulder, and all his comforting words turned into a long sigh.
"Bro, I'm sorry for what you've been through. You found the wrong girl for yourself.
You should have listened to me back then."
I looked at him and couldn't help but laugh at myself.
When I was young, I didn't want to inherit the inheritance, but wanted to make a name for myself.
I didn't expect it to end like this.
"Just stay with me for now. Your father is still recuperating abroad, right?"
I nodded.
That night, Todd and I drank a lot of alcohol and talked a lot. It wasn't until dawn that we barely ended.
I slept so deeply that I didn't wake up until the afternoon of the next day.
When I opened my phone, I found that there was no message.
The hot search was about Selena's
#Selena fainted on set, and Hans quickly sent her to the hospital#
In the picture, Hans carried Selena, who had a pale face.
I stared at my phone for a long time, strangely without much emotion.
Todd woke up next to me and asked, "Do you want to visit her in the hospital?"
"No," I decisively refused.
My life had revolved around her for these years, but at this point, I didn't want to be with her anymore.
A few days later, I prepared for my entrepreneurial plans, which I had planned to do a few years ago and finally put on the agenda.
Pondering over things, I instinctively reached for the necklace around my neck, but found it empty.
"Not good. It's probably left at Selena's house."
The necklace was given by my mother at my coming-of-age ceremony. It was a pity to lose it. I thought I should go back and get it.
When I returned, I found that the door was not closed.
Selena was still lying on the sofa. When she heard the noise and turned to see me, her face became very strange.
"What's wrong? Can't go on and come back to find me again?"
She looked at me with a mocking look, and I avoided her gaze and just asked,
"Have you seen my necklace?"
She sneered, "If you want to make excuses, at least find a decent one. Just say you regret it.
What necklace? I didn't see it at all!"
She didn't believe that I would choose to leave on my own, because I used to love her unconditionally.
So I chose to be her assistant, so that I could always be by her side.
But no one could remain the same forever.
"Never mind if you don't see it."
I left expressionlessly, and suddenly a strange man's voice came from the bathroom,
"Selena, is this necklace yours?"
A man wearing only a towel walked out, with a familiar and terrifying face.
It was Hans.
Chapter 4
After seeing me standing at the door, he showed a meaningful smile.
"Oh hi, Walt, Selena hasn't been feeling well these days. You're not here, so I came to take care of her."
"Oh, take care. But why's the bath?"
I pinched my fingertips, took a deep breath, and looked at Hans.
"The necklace is mine. Please give it to me."
Facing my outstretched hand, he didn't move.
"How do you prove that this is yours?"
This was purely a provocation.
As Selena's first love when they were young, Hans knew clearly about the relationship between me and Selena. He was just trying to disgust me.
On that night in my previous life, I saw with my own eyes Selena had cheated on me with him, and my stomach couldn't help but churn.
"Mr. Quincy, please give it to me."
I stepped forward to take it back, but Selena next to me became impatient first.
"Enough, Walt, it's just a damn necklace! What's the fuss here? It's worthless. If you wear it, you may make me humiliated."
That necklace was made by my mother, but at this point, it was despised as shabby by her.
Selena always had two distinct attitudes towards Hans and me.
In my previous life, she knew that I would not leave her and shamelessly praised Hans in front of me. It was not until I got angry that she would respond to me with a smile.
"Oh, I was just joking. Are you angry at me?"
Repeating this over and over, I felt like a kite tightly held in her hand.
I must be blind.
"This is my necklace. It has nothing to do with your face."
I glanced at Selena. It was the first time she had been embarrassed by me, and there was anger in both her eyes.
"What did you say, Walt? Let me tell you, we can't be together again! Not even a chance!"
I smiled lightly.
"I think so too."
Selena's face looked ugly, but soon, her eyes turned, and she started to sneer.
"I know you're angry with me, because of Hans, right?
It is useless. Do you think I will keep you by doing this? There is no chance!"
There was a hint of disgust in her eyes, while Hans, leaning against the door frame, looked at me with a smile. He seemed mocking my deep affection for these years.
Anger surged up unknowingly when I saw Hans throw the necklace into the toilet.
"You want it? Then go fish it out of the toilet."
In that instant, my mind went blank. By the time I came to my senses, Hans's face was already covered in blood from my punch.
"Walt, you're finished!"
There was a hysterical anger in his eyes. Selena pushed me hard, and then comforted Hans softly.
The affection between them still hurt me.
After a long time, I heard my own voice saying,
"Selena, you made me your assistant simply because I was a pushover, right?"
Selena was in a hurry to give Hans medicine, and her answers were so perfunctory.
"Of course. I don't need to pay you much money, but you always listen to me. Do you really think I still love you?"
"Since you don't even look back at me, I'll give up."
That night, Hans posted a picture of his own injury and named me as the one who hit him.
His fans below were clamoring to call the police, wishing to skin me alive.
But the next day, all the news about me online disappeared.
