Chapter 2
She felt that Spencer would never cheat on me even if the whole world turned upside down.
Playing with her fingers, she analyzed the situation with me.
"Look, Jessa, you have no powerful family to back you up or means. If Spencer doesn't love you, he can just divorce you directly. Why did he have to put in so much effort to lie to you?"
"How could he go to another woman after having sex with you every night? He is a restrained man. I doubt whether he will be that horny."
She grabbed my shoulders and said sternly, "I think there must be something fishy going on!"
I thought she was right.
I had known Spencer for more than ten years. I knew him best.
I decided to find out the truth first before confronting him.
I came out of the studio.
I came to Yord Medical University.
Spencer was originally an associate professor at a first-class hospital in Yord. Later, with his outstanding ability, he was specially hired as a lecturer by Yord Medical University.
He had been working here for the past two years.
I hid under a podium.
Looking down at his polished leather shoes, I listened to his magnetic voice reverberating in the large classroom...
Then I stretched out my fingers and pinched the leg of his pants, pulling it gently.
He was stuck in his speech.
Then a pen fell to the ground.
Taking the opportunity to pick up the pen, he squatted down to look into my eyes.
I smiled sweetly at him, mouthing, "Hubby, I miss you."
When I came here two years ago for the first time, I hid under a podium like now.
He was startled, but he didn't blame me.
Instead, he caressed the top of my head lovingly, telling me not to make trouble and to hide well.
This time, he didn't get angry.
Likewise, he rubbed the top of my head lovingly, telling me not to make trouble and to hide well.
Neither his attitude nor the look in his eyes changed.
He was still the man who loved me back then.
In order to test him, I hooked my arms around his neck and asked him kiss me before I did as he said.
He did not refuse.
Without hesitation, he leaned towards me, clasped the back of my head with his big palm, and kissed me affectionately on the lips.
In the end, he touched the top of my head out of habit, saying, "Be good. I'm in class."
After class...
Spencer pulled me to a corner of the stairs and picked me up, placing me on the guardrail.
Holding my waist with one hand and pinching my chin with the other, he reproached me with affection.
"Jessa Hawk, you'll implicate me by doing so."
I looked at him. The photos and messages flooded my mind. I felt so wronged that I burst into tears.
I wondered why on earth he did so to me.
If he didn't love me anymore, he could have said it out loud.
"Do I look like the kind of person who will pester him?"
Seeing that I cried, he immediately pulled me into his embrace.
As he kissed away the tears from the corners of my eyes, he coaxed me gently, "I'm sorry, Jessa. I didn't mean to be mean to you. I was worried that I couldn't support you after losing my job."
I sniffed.
I looked up at him and said, "Honey, do you think I'm a good-for-nothing? I need you to raise me at such a young age."
In fact, I was not a good-for-nothing.
Under Spencer's supervision, I had excellent grades since I was a child. Although I was not proficient in every subject, I had basically passed the test.
I had studied at a prestigious university. As soon as I graduated, some large-sized companies promised to hire me.
Chapter 3
I was full of confidence and ready to show off in the workplace.
Spencer suddenly mentioned that he wanted a child.
He said, "Don't go to work yet. Take good care of yourself. Let's get ready for pregnancy."
When he told me so, his eyes were red. I couldn't bear to refuse him, so I gave up my long-awaited job and became his full-time housewife.
But in the end, I became his burden.
Spencer shook his head and kissed my eyelids, saying, "You aren't trash. You are the best girl in the world."
Hearing him say so, I began to question the authenticity of those photos.
...
At night...
While Spencer was working in the study, I pretended that nothing had happened and lay in bed to watch a show.
At ten p.m. , Spencer came in on time.
As usual, he handed me the milk he had brewed and coaxed me to drink it gently.
If it were in the past, I would definitely finish it in one gulp without any hesitation.
But tonight, I became suspicious of the milk I had to drink every night.
Wrapping my arms around his neck, I said coquettishly, "Honey, I don't want to drink milk. Milk doesn't taste good."
"Good girl, milk is nutritious. It's good for your pregnancy."
He coaxed me as patiently as usual.
I felt that there was something wrong with the milk. In order not to arouse his suspicion, I finished it in front of him.
Spencer went to take a shower with peace of mind.
I got up and went to the kitchen. I secretly vomited the milk I had just drunk.
Then I quietly lay back on the bed.
After taking a shower, Spencer hugged me from behind out of habit.
He was tall and slender. Every part of his body was sturdy and attractive. After the shower, he smelled so refreshingly that I wanted to have a wonderful night with him.
In the past, I had been mesmerized by him instantly like this and indulged myself in his caring.
But I was not in the mood tonight.
Seeing that I was in low spirits, Spencer kissed me even harder and turned me on.
After a while, I was so tired that I almost fell asleep.
But I forced myself to stay awake.
Just as I was about to fall asleep, Spencer next to me finally took action.
He propped himself up to check if I was asleep. Then, he lowered his head and kissed me on the forehead. Finally, he tucked me in.
He was so gentle to me as if he were treating a rare treasure.
It was not until I heard the sound of the door closing that I slowly opened my eyes.
Spencer drove so fast that I was soon left behind.
Fortunately, I found out where the woman was staying from the photos.
I arrived by taking short-cuts. Sure enough, Spencer's car parked in front of an apartment building.
Through the car window, I could vaguely see that the beautiful woman, who always wore a red nightdress, was intimately hugging his neck and acting coquettishly.
Everything was so real and so fake to me.
Spencer, who had been by my side an hour ago, was hugging another woman intimately. Thinking of this, I felt so disgusted that I almost threw up.
He turned around and left this disgusting place step by step.
At two a.m. , I didn't want to go home at all.
Spencer had bought the house and built the house with me. Now that he didn't want me anymore, it was meaningless to me.
The night was chilling, yet I was so intensely painful deep inside.
In the end, I fainted in the rain due to exhaustion...
...
Spencer's cheating was a fatal blow to me.
The hospital's examination report was a disaster for me.
I had aplastic anemia.
Chapter 4
I couldn't believe it was me, but the name and information on the report was solid. I was sick.
Aplastic anemia was a disease comparable to cancer.
The doctor advised me to go to the hospital as soon as possible, saying that there might be a chance of survival.
Then, he roughly calculated the cost. If I could find a suitable bone marrow, it would cost me at least a million dollars.
I was about to mentally break down.
My cell phone rang with a message.
It was the same photo, the same background, and the same woman.
It was just that it was a different posture. The way how Spencer had hugged her changed.
He hugged me like this last night.
I looked out of the window with tears in my eyes.
The sky was bright.
It started to rain outside at some point.
Pain and despair engulfed me.
Back then, I had been so heartbroken and desperate when my parents had passed away. At that time, with Spencer around, he had supported me.
And now... there was no one else who could help me.
In the heavy rain, my cell phone began to ring non-stop.
I knew it was Spencer, and I knew that he would definitely search for me.
But all of this had nothing to do with love.
It was three hours later when he found me in my family's house back then.
He held me tightly in his arms and kissed my wet hair, saying, "Jessa, why didn't you answer the phone? You scared me to death."
I looked up at him with tears in my eyes.
"Spencer, have you never loved me? Or did you cease to love me after knowing that I had cancer?"
He was stunned before saying, "Why did you say that, Jessa?"
"Spencer, how long are you going to hide it from me?"
I clicked on the photos on my cell phone and showed them to him.
I thought he would panic, explain, and beg for my forgiveness at the sight of the photos.
Unexpectedly, he narrowed his eyes and looked slightly gloomy.
As for the photos of him and that woman, as well as the provocative messages from the woman every day, he didn't even bother to check on them.
Because of his indifference, I was thoroughly disappointed.
After a long while, he said calmly, "Jessa, let's talk inside."
