Chapter 1

On the day I went to the next city on a business trip, my husband Daniel Barber's childhood crush Julia Clark went back to the country.

Late at night, I received a call from Grandma. She heard weakly and said she fell while cooking, asking me when I could come back to take her to the hospital.

I was so anxious that I hurriedly called Daniel, hoping he could take Grandma to the hospital.

On the phone, Daniel sounded impatient, "Enough. I told you not to call my personal phone when I'm in a meeting."

After hanging up the phone, I had no choice but to postpone the project and drive home overnight.

On the way, I suddenly saw Julia posted a moment on Instagram, with a picture of a nine-layer cake, the candlelight reflecting Daniel's side face vaguely, and there was a text below.

[On the day I returned to the country, I thought I would celebrate my birthday alone, but your appearance filled my life with light.]

——

Just as I arrived home, I saw Grandma lying motionless on the kitchen floor, with a long bloodstain behind her.

The soup on the stove had already dried up. I remembered Grandma said she would make nourishing soup for Daniel at noon and my tears burst out at that moment.

Holding Grandma's cold body, I cried my eyes out.

I called Daniel more than once during this period but no one answered.

I could only contact the hospital and crematorium by myself.

It took me three days to deal with my grandmother's affairs.

I sat alone on the sofa until dawn, when Daniel finally came back.

With half a living room between us, I could still smell the perfume that belonged to Julia.

I was allergic to alcohol and the smell made me want to vomit.

Seeing this, Daniel didn't even have time to change his shoes before coming over to pat my back. He said as he walked, "What's wrong, Diana? Is your stomach uncomfortable again?"

I subtly avoided Daniel's approach and moved back a little.

Daniel's hand, hanging in the air, paused for a moment, and then he took out a bottle of nutritional supplements from the suitcase and handed it to me, changing the topic, "Where is Grandma? I brought two boxes of nutritional supplements for her."

"My friend said that the elderly can prevent brain infarction and cerebral hemorrhages by taking this..."

I didn't hear the rest of the words.

My attention was focused on brain infarction and cerebral hemorrhages as he mentioned.

Because the doctor said that my grandmother died of a cerebral hemorrhage caused by a brain infarction.

Looking at the ironic gift in front of me, I picked them up and threw them into the trash can.

Daniel glanced at the nutritional supplements in the trash can and said to me in embarrassment, "I specially bought them for Grandma. What are you doing, Diana?"

I was annoyed at Daniel's question and didn't want to answer him.

I expressionlessly took out the divorce agreement that I had prepared early in the morning and placed it on the coffee table, saying coldly, "Daniel, let's get a divorce."

Chapter 2

As if struck by lightning, Daniel froze, looking at me in astonishment as he asked, "What did you say?"

I didn't want to repeat myself, but just looked at the man in front of me indifferently and said, "Daniel, since you no longer love me, let's end the relationship. I'm tired after all these years."

Daniel didn't dare to look into my eyes, as if pondering my words. After a moment he said, "Diana, when you called me, I was really in a meeting. I didn't mean not to see Grandma. I just couldn't get away..."

"Really?"

Looking at Daniel's look of trying to defend himself, I felt it was absurd and continued, "I called your colleagues and they all said you weren't in the office. Daniel, may I ask where you were having a meeting? At Deharbor?"

The man nodded with a frozen face and stammered, "Yes, yes."

I suddenly laughed.

In the past, every time Daniel lied to me, I had deceived myself and made up the place Deharbor.

Daniel never knew that this place actually didn't exist.

Looking at his terrified appearance, I couldn't help but find it extremely ridiculous and coldly said, "Daniel, there is no Deharbor in this world."

After saying that, I turned and left.

However, Daniel reached out to block my way and anxiously explained, "I'm sorry, Diana. I admit that I wasn't in a meeting when you called me."

"But I didn't intentionally hide it from you. It was mainly because I was afraid you would be unhappy if you knew."

Looking at the man's face, I was calm and indifferent, and I said faintly, "It doesn't matter whether I'm happy or not."

Seeing that I didn't relent, Daniel completely lost patience and raised his voice, saying, "That's enough, Diana! I just went to celebrate Julia's birthday. What's the big deal?"

"Julia had just returned to the country, and she knew no one except me. As her brother, shouldn't I company her?"

I stared at Daniel's eyes and questioned him, "Daniel, honestly ask yourself, do you really treat Julia as your sister?"

The man stood still for a long time without speaking. Just as he was about to say something, I raised my hand and interrupted him, "Forget it, I don't want to know."

After speaking, I turned around and went back to the bedroom, leaving Daniel standing alone in the center of the living room.

Chapter 3

I met Daniel on a rainy night.

That night, in order to deliver more takeout orders, I desperately shuttled through the rain.

In just one turn, I scraped a parked car.

To compensate, I wrote down my phone number on a note.

Daniel, the owner of the car, added me on WhatsApp.

After communicating, I learned that the car I scraped was called Rolls-Royce.

I needed to compensate a lot of money, so much that I could hardly pay it back in my life.

So I went from working one job a day to working two or three jobs a day.

I transferred money to Daniel every month on time.

One day, Daniel said that his bank card was lost and he couldn't withdraw money, so he asked me to meet in person.

I brought the cash to the agreed park in between deliveries.

Daniel's first words when he saw me were, "I didn't expect you to be a deliverywoman."

I didn't think much at the time and just gave the money to Daniel before continuing to deliver takeout.

Now it seemed that at that time, Daniel, who was from the upper class, suddenly became interested in me when he saw me, a girl who had been struggling in the lower class.

However, after that meeting, Daniel would find excuses to meet me every few days.

Sometimes, he wanted to visit Grandma, sometimes he asked me to deliver meals to his company employees.

As time went by, we fell in love with each other.

But his family strongly opposed us getting married.

They said that I was a gold-digger and wanted to marry into the Barber family to change my life.

Only Daniel knew that I simply fell in love with him, without any other intentions.

In order to make his family accept me, Daniel stubbornly knelt at home for three whole days, saying that he wanted the Barber family to see his sincerity towards me.

Daniel's parents felt sorry for him and finally agreed to our marriage.

On the second day after the wedding, Daniel brought Grandma to live with us and said that my relationship with my grandma would not change.

But Grandma didn't think so.

She had heard too much gossip from the Barber family and felt that we didn't deserve the Barber family.

So from the day she moved into the villa, she acted as a nanny.

She did everything for Daniel, including washing clothes and cooking.

My grandma said that only in this way could she feel at ease.

Daniel couldn't resist and could only let Grandma do whatever she wanted.

We lived a warm life except for the disagreement from the Barber family.

But this peaceful and happy day was broken when Julia came back.

In fact, even if Daniel took half an hour to take Grandma to the hospital, we wouldn't be separated forever.

It was just that Daniel always came up with lies to deceive me after crossing my bottom line.

After so many years of self-deception, I was really tired.
