Chapter 3

After watching the video of the incident, I knew everything.

Mia was driving Stephen's car. Harley thought it was Stephen. She rushed over excitedly, but Mia hit her and ran away.

"What's ridiculous is that Harley thought it was her father who had been in the car until she died. She smiled, saying it's not his fault."

"Stephen, her daddy, abandoned her and stayed with the woman who had killed her!"

Stephen lied to me, telling me that he had sent the car for repairs, but it turned out he had lent it to Mia.

After Harley's death, my father took Stephen to the hospital by force.

...

He was covered in mud. His face was bruised all over. My father grabbed him and restrained him.

He was no longer the majestic and great lawyer usually.

Stephen saw me. Looking guilty, he said, "Chloe, I'm sorry. I didn't know..."

I didn't respond.

I slapped him.

Stephen wanted to argue further, saying, "Chloe, believe me. My phone ran out of battery. I didn't see the messages you sent."

I looked at him indifferently, saying, "What about Mia?"

Stephen became anxious, saying, "It has nothing to do with her. She didn't know that person was Harley. It was an accident."

At this point, he was protecting Mia. A sense of desolation surged in my heart.

While we were speaking, Mia rushed out from somewhere and stood in front of him.

Her eyes were filled with tears. Looking both pitiful and brave, she said, "Chloe, if you have any grievances, come at me. It has nothing to do with Stephen."

I sneered.

"I'm looking for you!"

Amidst her exclamation, I grabbed her hair and slammed her head hard against the bedpost.

The intense pain made her scream.

Stephen looked shocked, intending to go forward to check on her. My father stopped him.

I grabbed her head and banged it against the wall a few more times.

Blood was dripping down her forehead.

Her face turned pale.

For a moment, I eagerly wanted to kill her.

"I can tolerate her taking away Stephen, but Harley is my life. Whoever touches her will die!"

Mia knelt on the ground, continuously pleading and begging for forgiveness. She said, "I'm sorry, Chloe. It wasn't intentional. Harley suddenly rushed out. I couldn't step on the brake in time."

"I know that saying anything now is useless. I'm willing to double your losses."

"Compensation?"

I sneered,

"Okay!"

I looked down at her, saying indifferently, "Give me your life as compensation!"

"Enough!"

Stephen couldn't bear it anymore. He pulled Mia up and protected her behind him, saying, "We are all sad that Harley is dead, but she can't be brought back to life. We should look forward to it."

I looked at him in disbelief.

"My daughter just died. He unexpectedly protects the culprit and advises me to look forward."

"Stephen, are you a human being? Harley is your daughter. She is only 6 years old. She was calling for you until she died."

"And what about you? You were accompanying the killer who had killed her. You didn't even see her for the last time."

"Who do you think you are to advise me to look forward to?"

I stared at him with bloodshot eyes. I said, "If it weren't for you, how could Harley die? If it weren't for you lending the car to Mia, how could Harley rush out and be hit?"

"It's you! You killed Harley!"

I shouted all the time.

"He is related to our daughter's death. He is standing here, asking me to look forward generously."

"Is he a human being or not?"

Stephen dared not look directly into my eyes. He said guiltily, "I didn't want this to happen. I will compensate you in the future. We will have other children."

Mia glanced at him subconsciously when she heard this. Then she tightly pursed her lips, revealing a hint of grievance.

"How long has Harley been gone? Not only doesn't he have any guilt, but also he hasn't shed a single tear. He even wants a second child."

My dad was so angry that he jumped up first and punched Stephen in the face. He said, "You want another child? Stephen, let me tell you something. You caused the death of my granddaughter for this wild woman. this matter is not over."

"Not only do I want you to go to jail, but also your marriage must end. Don't you hurt my daughter again!"

My mom patted me to comfort me, but she looked at Stephen indifferently. In the past, she had been enthusiastic about him.

Hearing that we would get divorced, Stephen panicked and said, "Chloe, I know I was wrong. I won't divorce you. I love you. I won't divorce you."

"How dare he say he loves me?"

"He is ambiguous about his relationship with Mia while claiming to love me."

"He claims to love me. When our daughter was in the hospital, I begged him. But he stayed with Mia."

"I used to truly believe that he loved me. I loved him too. We had a happy family. We gain financial freedom. We have a house, a car, and a lovely daughter."

"Everything changed since Mia appeared."

He started coming home later. We started arguing more often.

The reason for our arguments gradually shifted from trivial matters to Mia.

Stephen said, " Mia got divorced. It's not easy for her to be alone. We were classmates, so I'll help her as much as I can."

So, he started spending all his time with her.

He took her to his company's gatherings, went shopping with her, and stayed overnight at her place when he got drunk.

I suspected that he had almost forgotten that he had a family.

I expressed my dissatisfaction.

He accused me, trying to gaslight me morally. He said, "Chloe, when did you become so heartless? You are a woman too. Can't you have some sympathy?"

Before Harley had a car accident, Stephen had not come home for a week. He said he was on a business trip.

After my repeated requests, he finally agreed to come back and celebrate our daughter's birthday.

Harley was so happy that she didn't sleep for several nights. She was counting the days until her father came back.

But what came was the news of her death.

She died at the age of 6.

I looked at Stephen expressionlessly and said, "If you don't want a divorce, it's fine."

Stephen's eyes lit up.

The next moment, his eyes dimmed again.

"The condition is that Harley can survive!"

Stephen's face changed. As he was about to come forward to hold me, Mia preempted him.

The wound on her forehead kept bleeding, making her look particularly terrifying.

She supported her head and pretended to lean on Stephen, saying, "Stephen, my head hurts!"

The next second, she fainted in his arms.

Stephen no longer cared about anything else. He picked her up and ran while shouting for a doctor.

Seeing this, my father touched his chest. He was too angry to say anything.

Chapter 5

I went home and packed up.

The dishes on the table had not been cleaned up yet. They were all Harley's favorites.

On the background wall, there were strings of pink and white balloons. The stickers read, [Happy Birthday, Dear Harley.]

Such a scene made me cry again.

I went crazy. I smashed everything in the room to pieces. Even so, I couldn't get rid of the hatred in my heart.

I rushed into the room and took down the wedding photo. I stomped and trampled it until it became dirty and deformed.

On the day of Harley's funeral, Stephen's parents arrived slowly.

...

After Harley's car accident, I informed them for the first time. They declined, saying that the journey was too far. They would show up on the day of the funeral.

They disliked Harley since her childhood. After all, she was a girl. They had been urging me to have a second child, both openly and secretly.

I disagreed.

I told them I would only have one child in this lifetime, that was, Harley.

They didn't come to visit Harley all year round. When she was lying in the hospital, they didn't even show up.

Now, they were pretending to be sad and crying in front of Harley's grave.

They cried for a long time pretentiously.

In contrast, my mom had fainted several times, and my dad was shedding tears while supporting her.

After the funeral started, Stephen hurriedly arrived.

I knew that he had been accompanying Mia in the hospital these days.

My parents and I handled everything at Harley's funeral.

Stephen tried to come over and pull me, but I avoided him.

He awkwardly touched his face and stood by his parents.

After the funeral, I threw the divorce agreement at him.

Stephen rubbed his face wearily, saying, "Chloe, can you stop making a scene? Nothing is indeed going on between Mia and me."

"Is that so?" I sneered at him.

"What have you been doing these days?"

Stephen was stunned for a moment.

After a while, his eyes wandered. He said, "Something is going on at the company. I went to deal with it."

A few days later, I found out what Stephen was talking about!

I would seek revenge for Harley
