Chapter 1
At the classmate's wedding, my husband Patrick Austin and his ex-girlfriend Megan Roland drank cross-cup wine in front of me and ate jujubes mouth-to-mouth.
Instead of refusing, Patrick not only agreed but also kissed her willingly.
Everyone looked at me, thinking that I would make a scene and leave.
However, I smiled faintly, clapped my hands, and said, "If that's the case, let's give the love birds to have some private time together."
——
Megan licked her lips with a lingering desire and looked at me in the audience.
"Patrick, your wife is here. She won't be jealous, right?"
Patrick smiled indifferently, "Let's continue. Leave her alone."
They continued to kiss passionately as if there was no one else around.
And then they held hands and made a loving gesture to the video camera.
Soon, the photo was spread all over Twitter.
Someone even commented they were a perfect match.
My bestie Sarah quickly sent me a message.
"Nora, are you okay?"
I looked at the two people holding their hands on the stage, talking and laughing.
"I'm fine. Let them be."
When they came back, Patrick naturally sat next to Megan, and the two of them were close together.
Megan fed the rice ball that she took a bite of into Patrick's mouth.
Seeing the scene, I couldn't help my nausea.
Megan looked at me and said, "It's been a long time since we've seen each other. I want to get closer. You don't mind, right?"
Facing the obvious provocation, I said indifferently, "No."
In the past, I would definitely make a scene regardless.
But at this point, I just wanted to say the shameless couple was really disgusting.
It was not the first time that they had done this in front of me.
The first time I found out Patrick was cheating was when I was in school.
They went on a date behind my back.
When I found out, they were kissing.
I was furious and grabbed Megan's hair, pressing her head into the campus river.
But Patrick said that they were rehearsing a play, and it was my nasty mind that made me have wayward thoughts.
He asked me to apologize to Megan, otherwise we would break up.
He always knew how to control me.
I was most afraid of him mentioning a breakup, so I had to lower my head to Megan.
However, my apology didn't get me any peace.
My miserable past experience was twisted and posted on the school forum.
In order not to be judged by the crowd, I hid.
I knew who slandered me.
But Patrick didn't believe me and insisted that I provide evidence, otherwise I would be maliciously slandering.
He said that I only cared about trivial matters and didn't have the qualities that a woman should have.
However, at that time, I could endure everything as long as Patrick didn't leave me.
So I kept apologizing and promised that I would never do this again.
I felt really ridiculous every time I thought about the past.
At this moment, everyone present was eating in silence, their eyes swaying back and forth between me and them.
During the toast of the bride and groom, Megan held onto Patrick's arm.
Patrick smiled and the two of them stood up gracefully.
Megan finished the whole glass of wine in one gulp and fell into Patrick's arms, pretending to be drunk.
Patrick didn't think there was anything wrong, but he carefully covered Megan with his own coat, his eyes filled with Megan.
Everyone turned to look at me.
To their surprise, I was surprisingly calm. After a long time, I said, "Don't look at me. Look at them. The show is only halfway through. Let's have the meal."
Chapter 2
Although I was used to them being so blatant, I still felt disgusted.
I really didn't have an appetite, so I went out to get some air.
With the cold wind blowing on my face, I became even more sober.
Since they dared to do this in front of me, it meant that they were no longer going to cover up.
Since this was the case, I didn't have to be polite.
After the banquet, Patrick, who was a little drunk, supported Megan and walked out.
Because of the alcohol, he couldn't stand steadily.
"Nora, come and help."
Without even looking at them, I said indifferently, "Support your own woman."
Patrick frowned, thinking that I was jealous.
"Don't make a scene, I'll explain it to you when we get back."
At this moment, Megan suddenly woke up, kissed Patrick on the face, and murmured that she was the woman Patrick loved.
Then she fell asleep again.
Everyone was shocked by this scene.
But Patrick seemed used to it and gave me a dissatisfied look before helping Megan into the car.
Megan held Patrick's hand and didn't let go.
So, Patrick also got into the car as if it had been planned.
Without telling me, he followed another woman to leave.
The car window rolled down, and Megan, who was already drunk, looked sober. She gave me a provocative look, as if in a demonstration.
I calmly watched them leave, with no emotional fluctuations in my heart.
I didn't care.
They could do whatever they wanted.
As long as they asked, I could divorce Patrick immediately.
The crowd was dumbfounded, all of them casting puzzled and disdainful glances at me.
How could I watch indifferently as my husband hooked up with another woman and was so intimate in front of me?
Some people said that Patrick and Megan were a match, and I was just an interloper who took advantage of the situation.
The voices were harsh.
But they forgot that I was Patrick's wife and they should not blame me.
I went back home, lying lazily on the big bed.
I couldn't remember how long I hadn't felt relaxed like this.
I still remembered when I first got together with Patrick.
In order to please him, washing his clothes and cooking for him every day was an essential part of my day.
I thought I had done enough.
But since Megan transferred to college, Patrick's eyes have always wandered over her during every class.
So, I was afraid that Patrick would suddenly feel that I was not good enough and break up with me.
Whenever I had such thoughts, his casual words of comfort made me attentive again.
But the next moment, he was chatting and laughing with Megan.
Later I learned that Megan was Patrick's ex-girlfriend.
She transferred to the college for Patrick.
Later, Megan went abroad.
And Patrick chose to marry me.
I felt that God was on my side.
I posted it on my Twitter proudly, wanting to tell the whole world about it.
But that day, Patrick came back very late. Maybe he was too tired, he forgot to turn off his phone.
When he went to take a shower, he received a message.
When I saw that the sender's name was Megan, I suddenly had a bad premonition.
I tried my best to remain calm as I read the message.
[Patrick, you're amazing.]
Then, there was a photo of them kissing!
I froze at that moment!
He told me that he was working overtime every day. When he came back, he was either busy or tired, unwilling to intimate with me.
But in fact, he was hanging out with other women!
Chapter 3
At that moment, I realized that Megan might have returned home.
They had always been in touch!
I wanted to question Patrick but I felt so tired to ask him.
We had only been married for more than a year, but I was already exhausted.
After that, Patrick said he would go on business trips continuously and wouldn't be home for several days.
I didn't ask any questions but simply replied, "Okay."
I knew he was lying to me because his position didn't require him to leave the company at all.
He was just lying to me in order to have a night out with his lover.
I didn't bother to expose him.
Because I didn't care about him anymore.
It was 8 o'clock in the evening and Patrick hadn't come back yet.
In the past, if he hadn't come home this late, I would have called him like crazy, afraid that he would be asked for the number or be accosted by someone. I was even more afraid that he was drunk outside and got hit by a car.
But at this point...
I didn't care even if he died outside.
I turned off my phone and fell asleep.
At some point, the sound of the door opening woke me up.
Patrick ordered me as usual.
"Nora, serve me a glass of water."
In the past, I would have already attentively helped him boil water, set the temperature in the bathroom, and prepared desserts and fruits for him.
I casually replied, "I'm sleeping. Don't disturb me."
Patrick walked into the bedroom, with a strong scent of perfume from Megan mixed with the alcohol.
"Are you jealous again?"
"How many times have I said that Megan and I are just friends? You shouldn't be so sensitive every time."
He thought I was sulking about the wedding.
"As you can see, in that situation, as a groomsman, I could only sit with the bridesmaid."
"Is kissing necessary?" I sneered.
Patrick's face turned dark, "That was just a program arranged by the host. Besides, she was so drunk and someone had to take her home."
I sneered.
With so many people, why did it have to be my husband who went to send her?
When I was in school before, many boys who were good at drinking couldn't beat Megan.
There was no way he couldn't see that Megan was pretending to be drunk.
"You can do whatever you want. No need to explain it to me."
"What do you mean?"
"You heard it."
Patrick frowned, sensing that something was wrong with me today.
After all, in the past, he would have been able to coax me with a couple of casual explanations.
"Nora, what's wrong with you today?"
I said calmly, "I'm fine, better than ever!"
"Stop messing around, okay?"
Patrick was a little angry.
"I told you, I'm fine. You shouldn't have come back tonight. You should sleep with Megan. Isn't that what you want the most?"
"You said you weren't jealous!"
Patrick's eyebrows relaxed, finally hearing what he wanted to hear.
"Okay, I'll try to avoid her in the future. I feel uncomfortable being sticky all over. Go and prepare for me. I want to take a bath."
He served other women outside, but he wanted me to serve him when he came back.
What a joke!
"I told you I wanted to sleep!"
