Chapter 3
"I think option two is better for you.
"From now on, you can only travel with me.
"Your legs aren't worth keeping."
"One, I choose one!"
I definitely didn't want to spend the rest of my life in a wheelchair.
My 30 million was intact. Luckily his mom didn't make me sign a contract, so there was no penalty fee.
But, how to repay the money?
Beau seemed to read my mind. Just as I thought about the money, he mentioned it.
"Regarding the 30 million my mom gave you, you have two options."
Again?
"One, a meeting gift from my mom to her daughter-in-law."
"Two, compensation for your broken legs."
After speaking, Beau's gaze deliberately lingered on my legs.
"One, I choose one."
I quickly bowed, hugging my knees, trembling.
What did my legs do to him? He kept staring, as if he wanted to break them immediately.
"Why not choose two?"
Beau looked regretful.
"Without legs, you won't be able to escape."
Damn it.
Did normal people act this extreme?
Why did I have to provoke Beau? I must be tired of living.
No, I didn't provoke him. I was just unlucky to transmigrate into this book!
Where was the substitute female lead?
Where was she?
Hurry up and show up; please save me!
"Beau, stop right there."
Just as I got out of the car, I heard his mom's furious voice, and I inexplicably breathed a sigh of relief.
Thankfully, I was smart enough to secretly dial her number when I got in the car.
She must have heard most of the conversation between Beau and me in the car, so she rushed over to block him.
With his mom stopping him, we wouldn't be getting that certificate today.
I never expected that Beau's madness wasn't just directed at me but at everyone, attacking indiscriminately.
"Mom, you have two choices now."
Hearing these familiar words, I was stunned.
His mother was taken aback.
"One, accept that you have a daughter-in-law today.
"Two, let her go, and I'll cripple my own legs to prevent myself from chasing after her."
This was beyond absurd; it was utterly ridiculous.
His mother and I were both dumbfounded, staring at each other in shock.
Heh! Beau not only had plans for my legs but wouldn't even spare his own.
That was ruthless.
"Beau, I am your biological mother."
His mother was furious.
Beau sneered and retorted, "So, are you going to cripple your legs for me?
"That wouldn't help.
"If your legs were broken, it wouldn't stop me from chasing my wife."
Seeing his mother devastated by his words, I silently consoled her. 'Hang in there; he's your biological son, after all.'
Biological!
If even his mother couldn't stop him, who could?
I really didn't want to marry a psychopath who was constantly fixated on my legs.
"Are you going in or not?"
Beau turned to look at me, a smile playing on his lips, clearly hinting at something.
"Or shall we have another two options?"
No thanks. I didn't need another choice.
But being forced to register for marriage like this was really frustrating.
I couldn't escape. I couldn't resist, so—
"Beau, do you see me as particularly cheap?"
I might as well stir up some trouble.
I could be unreasonable and difficult.
"I won't register for marriage without anything."
"Yes, yes, our family has many rules. Such a big event as registering for marriage can't be rushed."
Beau's mother came to her senses and immediately agreed, following along.
Chapter 4
"At least we should find a master to help pick a lucky date and talk about the gifts and dowry for the betrothal..."
"Mom, two options."
Beau's smile was bitter.
Hearing the words "two options," I reflexively felt a tingling in my scalp, but realizing it was Beau's mother who had to choose, I breathed a sigh of relief.
Better her than me.
Beau's mother, on the other hand, looked wary, her eyes full of suspicion.
She was probably wondering if her outstanding son had been possessed by a ghost, coming up with yet another choice.
"One, let her be added to the household registry today.
"Two, I leave the household registry today.
"Of course, this time without breaking legs; I need to make money to support the family."
Ah... this...
I must have entered the book the wrong way; Beau was acting so crazy, even setting a time, leaving no room for delay.
In the book, though he was a psychopath, he wasn't this extreme!
His mother, infuriated, raised her arm, her fingers trembling uncontrollably.
"You... are you trying to infuriate me to death?
"Today I lay it out here. If she stays, I go; if I stay, she goes."
Her voice was sharp and piercing, giving me goosebumps all over.
That was a classic line in those mother-in-law and daughter-in-law dramas, but Beau still didn't fall for it.
"Mom, do you choose one or two?"
His face was calm, showing no sign of emotion.
However, his mom was about to explode with anger, clutching her chest and bending over in pain.
"Beau, your mother is not feeling well. Hurry up and take her to the hospital..."
I quickly chimed in, not wanting to waste his mother's 'good intentions'!
"Take my mom to the hospital for a full check-up."
Beau raised his hand, and the woman who had been 'inviting' me immediately stepped forward briskly.
"Until the physical examination report comes out, let my mom rest in the ward.
"If she insists on leaving, then... tie her legs."
This added remark left me bewildered.
His mom, gasping for breath, glared at Beau with wide eyes as she was being held back.
"You ungrateful wretch! You dare lock me up!
"If you dare to marry her today, I will kick you out of the company!"
She was truly furious.
I shrank back, trying to lower my presence.
"Kick me out of the company?"
Beau deliberately stretched his words, his face full of malice.
"Mom, you need to make one more choice."
As a bystander, I felt a chill down my spine.
"I've been running the company for six years, and the market value has been rising.
"If you want to kick me out, fine. One, split the company, and I'll take all the cases I handled."
"Two, convert the appreciated value into shares for me.
"Make a choice!"
I lowered my head, not daring to look at his mom's face, which must be a spectacular mix of emotions.
Putting myself in her shoes, I would probably faint immediately and then pretend this never happened.
Why was Beau so crazy? What gave him the right?
That was his real mom, not an enemy or a rival!
Gosh, if he was this harsh to his own mom, and I wasn't even related to him...
I shouldn't think about it. I didn't dare to.
Yet, despite myself, I shivered.
Please, book transmigration god, send me away.
Beau, who slaughtered all in his path, was someone I couldn't deal with.
"And you, Nina, choose one, the cases I've handled in recent years, or the Burton Group's shares as your dowry."
