Olivia’s POV

My name is Olivia, and I have been married to Daniel Cooper, a well respected billionaire across the country, for five years now.

Before Daniel returned from the States, I worked as a maid for his family, unaware of my parents identities or my true background.

I grew up in an orphanage until Daniel’s mother, Mrs. Cooper, took me in as a maid ten years ago.

I will always be grateful to her because she treated me with kindness and favored me above all the other maids. She made me feel like part of the family, showering me with love and accepting me with an open arms.

At twenty-one, I married Daniel despite our different social statuses. As the sole heir to his family’s empire, he was expected to marry a woman of influence to continue his family’s legacy. But instead, he choose me because we fall in love with each other.

He has a stepbrother, Ethan, the illegitimate son of his father, yet despite all the expectations from him, Daniel still married me, and we have built a life together ever since.

Daniel is every woman’s ideal man. He is tall, handsome, wealthy, and kind-hearted. I truly believed he was the perfect husband, the kind of man any woman would fall hopelessly in love with— and I certainly did.

Our first four years of marriage were blissful, filled with love, laughter, and affection. But everything changed A month ago. His warmth suddenly turned cold, and he became distant.

The greatest pain, however, was my inability to give him a child. His father’s will stated that if Daniel failed to marry and have an heir, his entire inheritance would pass to his stepbrother instead. We never understood why his father had made such a cruel condition, but it was irreversible. No one dared question his final wishes.

Despite the constant hurt I endured from his family, especially his aunt, I continued to love Daniel with all my heart and stood faithfully by his side through every decision he made.

But tonight was different.

Daniel had just launched a new company and was hosting a grand dinner party. I attended to support him and to present him with a special gift I had carefully prepared. But instead, I received the greatest shock of my life.

“Ladies and gentlemen, allow me to introduce my fiancée, Juliana Carter.”

His announcement sliced through my chest like a knife, leaving me frozen on the spot.

I stood among the guests, my eyes locked on Daniel as he smiled proudly while introducing the woman standing beside him.

Juliana Carter… his ex-girlfriend?

My mind reeled in disbelief. The truth struck me like a bolt of lightning.

So this was why he had been distant for over a month? This was why he had pushed me away? It wasn’t because I couldn’t give him a child?

It was because he had gone back to his first love?

A wave of insecurity washed over me as I began to compare myself to Juliana.

She was the daughter of a powerful minister, born into wealth and influence, while I was just an ordinary girl who had somehow found herself accepted into the Cooper’s family.

In that moment, I felt like nothing more than a temporary replacement— an incapable wife who had failed to help her husband achieve everything he desired.

My hands slowly clenched into fists as tears blurred my vision. I couldn’t believe I had been so blind, so naïve. All this time, I had convinced myself that Daniel’s distance was caused by my inability to conceive, when in reality, I had simply been replaced.

The room erupted into applause as Juliana gracefully walked toward him, swaying confidently in her black gown. Daniel looked at her with so much warmth and admiration, as if she were the most precious woman in the world.

The sight alone shattered my heart, I swear.

This wasn’t the promise he had made to me.

Yet I couldn’t step forward to challenge him or publicly claim my place as his wife.

Why?

Because I was a nobody.

I am just an ordinary woman.

Despite being married to one of the country’s most influential men, no one outside his family even knew I existed. He had never been proud enough to introduce me to the world.

“Good evening, ladies and gentlemen. Thank you all for joining us tonight to celebrate this special occasion. I am also delighted to announce that Carter International Group and Cooper Global will soon be merging. Please raise your glasses as we toast to a prosperous and long-lasting partnership.”

She lifted her champagne glass, and the guests happily followed her lead.

At that very moment, her eyes somehow found mine. And a wicked smile slowly spread across her lips.

The right thing to do would have been to confront her and assert my place as Daniel’s wife. A confident woman would have stood her ground. A brave wife would have fought to protect her marriage.

But I wasn’t brave enough to do that.

I wasn’t confident at all.

At the same time, my head began to pound very loudly, the sharp pain growing worse by each second.

This always happens to me whenever I experienced severe emotional shock. I felt weak, dizzy, and completely drained.

I watched as Daniel and Juliana stepped down from the stage together while he proudly introduced her to his guests.

And my chest tightened with unbearable pain at the sight. Unable to endure another second of this horrible torture, I slowly turned around and walked toward the exit door. But before I could reach the door, someone grabbed my wrist and forcefully spun me around.
