Chapter 1
He was the Master of Golden Liberty who everyone was scared of. He was also the famous and elusive divine doctor. He returned to the city silently, but the Millers despised him, and even his fiancée wanted to call off the engagement.
Everything started with a broken engagement…
Henry Truman woke up early in the morning.
He felt a soft touch in his right hand and subconsciously pinched it. The feeling of the touch made him feel satisfied.
When he turned, he saw a woman with a beautiful face lying next to him.
"Ah..."
Lydia Miller was startled awake by the pinch and realized she was naked.
She screamed and pushed Henry away.
She yanked the sheets with one hand while slamming him with a pillow with the other.
"You jerk! Pervert! What have you done to me?!"
"Well, it seems like we have done everything."
"Do you know no shame?" Lydia was embarrassed and angry.
"That’s not true. You were the one who took the initiative last night." Henry defended himself.
"Nonsense! It was—"
Lydia wanted to argue, but she couldn't finish her sentence as the previous night's events flashed through her mind.
She was drugged while attempting to collect a large amount of debt, and she only managed to escape when she found an opportunity to use the restroom.
Henry had just brought her to her hotel room and was ready to leave. It was she who took the initiative, gripping him and throwing herself at him.
"Waaah!" Lydia cried.
Henry felt a little awkward when he saw how upset she was.
He said, "I will take responsibility for this."
"You? Do you know who I am?" Lydia asked in anger.
"This should not be an issue. I am powerful, and many great people respect me." Henry boasted.
"Fuck off!"
Lydia was on the verge of losing her temper. That douchebag had robbed her of her virginity.
However, as the CEO of the Miller Group, she was an extremely strong-willed individual.
She calmed down after a brief outburst.
"Let's pretend nothing happened and not say a word about it. If you don't comply, I won't let you off so easily." Lydia warned him.
"You have my word," Henry responded.
After all, it was great not to be held accountable.
"Why are you still here then?" Lydia said coldly.
Henry felt frustrated.
'It's not like you're the only one who feels awkward. I've kept my virginity for over 20 years and haven't said anything.
'It's gone just like that. It's not fair to my fiancée.'
He had no intention of keeping the engagement anyway, but his grandfather insisted.
Henry was about to leave the hotel when a Rolls-Royce pulled over.
A fierce-looking 50-year-old man opened the door and got out of the car.
"Master of Golden Liberty, I am Jeffery Ford. This is a great honor." He knelt down with a respectful expression on his face.
Henry recalled the information about Jeffery Ford as he heard the name.
He was one of the Eighteen Generals, all remarkable figures, mainly business tycoons, and Jeffery Ford was one of them.
"Get up," Henry said and got into the car. Then, he asked, "You seem to be doing well in Hodbridge, right?"
"It is not worth mentioning such little achievements. All of these successes must be credited to the Golden Liberty."
Jeffery looked humble.
If no one mentioned it, no one would know he was the chairman of the Everising Chamber of Commerce.
He was not only the ruler of gray businesses in Hodbridge, but the Everising Chamber of Commerce controlled more than half of the local economy.
Many businesses wanted to join the chamber, but only limited slots were available.
"It's good you understand that. What do you want from me?" Henry asked casually.
"I was excited when I heard you came here. I've prepared a small gift for you."
Chapter 2
"This is the Everising Platinum Card, with a credit limit of 150 million dollars. You can use it at any Hodbridge store belonging to the Everising Chamber of Commerce.
"Also, since you've just arrived, you probably need a place to stay. Here's the key card to the villa in Paradise One. Please accept it."
"That's very generous of you. Tell me what you want." Henry's gaze was profound, as if he saw through everything.
"My daughter, Chansey Ford, has frequently experienced chills throughout her body since six months ago. We've seen numerous renowned doctors, but none has a cure. I am humbly asking for your help," Jeffery said.
"Not an issue. I'll take care of it when I am free tomorrow."
"That's great! Thank you, Master!" Jeffery was excited.
After enquiring from various sources, he discovered that the newly appointed young master was actually the elusive divine doctor he had been looking for.
He could not believe the divine doctor was such a young man, and he was the Master of Golden Liberty.
Jeffery was overjoyed when Henry responded to him.
"Master, do you have any other orders? There's probably nothing I can't do in Hodbridge," Jeffery said.
"Help me find a girl," Henry said.
"Alright, I will do my best!
"I've also invited many top celebrities to host a banquet tonight in your honor."
Henry frowned.
"I don't like a big fuss. Let's skip it."
"But I've already arranged it."
"Cancel it."
"Okay."
"That's all. I'll get off here. And, call me Henry in the future." Henry did not want too much attention.
"Noted!"
Jeffery agreed because he understood that Henry preferred to keep a low profile.
Even though it was only a brief encounter, no one had applied such pressure to him since he took over.
Henry went to breakfast after getting out of Jeffery's car. Then, he took a taxi to the Sunrise Mansion, where his fiancée lived.
When Henry arrived at the mansion, the butler escorted him inside.
As he walked into the living room, he noticed a beautiful lady approaching him.
It was the lady he met the previous night; he had not expected to see her there.
She was gorgeous; he could not help looking at her. Unfortunately, she was unapproachable and unfriendly.
Lydia's expression changed dramatically, and she asked angrily, "What are you doing here?"
'This douchebag tailed me after this morning. Clearly, he wants to extort me.'
"I'm here to find my fiancée," Henry said.
"Keep dreaming! You do not intimidate me," Lydia replied angrily.
"What are you talking about? I came here to find my fiancée, Lydia Miller."
"Fiancée? Lydia Miller? You're Henry Truman?"
Lydia finally realized that the man was Henry. She had only heard the name from her grandfather and had never seen him in person.
The person he had praised so much turned out to be that rustic ruffian.
She was in a daze.
She was the Miller Group's CEO, and she held an overseas master's degree.
She regretted giving her virginity to such a useless ruffian.
That bumpkin ruffian turned out to be her fiancé.
Marrying someone like him would probably be worse than death.
Chapter 3
"Henry, I have been waiting for you since the old divine doctor called, and you have finally arrived today. Come in. The door is open!"
John Miller went to the door to greet Henry because he had not seen him in a while.
Henry immediately smiled when he saw him and said, "Grandpa Miller!"
"Have you two met?" John looked at his granddaughter.
Lydia looked awkward.
"We met during the day," Henry said.
"Well, that's quite a coincidence. Perhaps it's destined."
"Today is a good day to get married. You can go do that after lunch." John laughed heartily.
He thought highly of the old divine doctor's medical skills. His students should be just as good.
Henry was stunned momentarily, finally realizing that the gorgeous lady was his fiancée, Lydia Miller.
He could not help but keep observing her with his eyes, focusing on specific areas.
Lydia had also noticed Henry's gaze, which reminded her of the incident from the night before. She felt even more embarrassed.
Not only did he take advantage of her vulnerability the previous night, but he also happened to be her fiancé.
Lydia was still upset about what had happened the night before and got even more frustrated with what she had just discovered.
John was happy, but a middle-aged couple beside him had a frown on their faces as if they were dissatisfied.
They were Lydia's parents.
Their daughter was beautiful, and she also happened to be the CEO of the Miller Group.
A slew of wealthy individuals pursued her. How did she end up with such a brash ruffian?
Lydia's mother, Jennifer Miller, could not help but say to John, "Father, you intend to marry Lydia to this guy?
"Look at how he's dressed. What a shame if our daughter marries him."
"Yes, this will turn the Millers into a joke." Lydia's father, William Miller, voiced his dissatisfaction.
"Stop the nonsense. Henry is not a bumpkin. He has been living in the mountains and doesn't know much about the world. You guys should take care of him even more."
"Their marriage is already decided," John said in a determined tone, ending the discussion.
The couple did not dare to say anything more.
Even though John had handed over the company's business to Lydia, no one dared to challenge him.
Lydia understood that well. Hence, she was mentally prepared for that.
The only surprise was that her fiancé was a bumpkin ruffian who took advantage of her vulnerability the previous night. He had also just left the mountains.
It did not matter because she would show him the difference, forcing him to leave.
Furthermore, it would be impossible for him to get his hands on her!
Lydia drove Henry to the Civil Affairs Bureau at noon, as John requested.
It did not take them long to finish the paperwork, and they came out very quickly.
As he looked at Lydia's frosty face in the photo on the marriage certificate, Henry shook his head and said, "Why can't you look happier?"
"Happier? How can I be happy marrying a ruffian like you who knows nothing but bragging?"
"You're wrong. I'm pretty amazing."
"You?"
"Yes, especially in medical skills. Everyone calls me the divine doctor!"
Pfft.
"You are the divine doctor?! I am the god of medicine if you're the divine doctor! Stop wasting your breath. I'm not a three-year-old who you can fool." Lydia sneered.
"Okay." Henry shrugged helplessly.
"Good to hear you understand. What happened last night was an accident. We are from different worlds. Things will never be possible between us."
"That's hard to say. You might admire me once you get to know me better. You might not be able to resist falling in love with me."
