Chapter 2

An hour later, Linda stopped crying and took out a stack of photos and handed them to me.

"The express delivery just now said that Ryan cheated on me. I dress so beautifully every day... Why..."

When she talked about this she started crying again.

I flipped through the photos she handed me.

There was a thick stack of photos of different women and Ryan attending various occasions.

They were a little close but nothing out of the ordinary.

But this last photo was a kissing photo.

But the angle was a bit strange. And I couldn't tell whether it was a trick or a real kiss.

But looking at the photos, I could give Ryan who had done so much an innocent title.

"Linda, what do you want to do now?"

"What?"

She was stumped by my question, and she didn't know what to do either...

I felt helpless looking at the confused woman in front of me.

Honestly, I didn't want to get involved in this mess.

The relationship between us was not that close. We even looked down on each other.

Just because she was my mother-in-law, I would obey her on basic issues.

It was because I found it troublesome

"I don't know. But you're a lawyer. What do you think I should do?"

It was a bit strange that Linda looked so weak in front of me for the first time.

"First of all, you should investigate the facts first, because these photos cannot directly prove that he cheated. If he did cheat, then the second step is divorce and division of property."

"Divorce! No, no, no."

I looked at Linda in front of me who was shaking her head and didn't say anything.

I just proposed a solution to the problem, but how to actually solve it was up to her.

Would she give in or move on?

"Then I'll find someone to investigate first."

Having said this, she hurried out.

It was really hard to imagine that this reckless person was already in her 40s and a mother.

After thinking for a long time, I picked up my phone and sent her a message.

[Chat records, intimate photos, transfer records, letters of guarantee and repentance written by the man, conversation recordings, hotel check-in records, train and plane tickets for Ryan and the third party, and other information about the two people's intimate interactions can all be used as evidence.]

Women were already at a disadvantage in this kind of situation, so I wanted to help her.

But I didn't know that these things would be used on me first.

I held Adrian's cell phone and looked at Linda in confusion.

Linda sent Adrian away and asked me to check his phone.

"Linda, what are you doing?"

"What do you think? Look at his chat history with that bitch. Hurry up, I'll keep watch for you."

I looked at Linda who was looking at the kitchen nervously and spoke helplessly.

"Linda, Adrian didn't cheat."

"How do you know?"

"I asked him."

Linda said, "What do you know? How can a man admit that he cheated on his wife? Are you stupid?"

"Mom, Mia, what are you talking about?"

Linda was stunned when she heard Adrian's voice.

"Nothing. We just said we saw you while shopping this afternoon."

When Linda heard me say this, she frowned.

"My cousin went there this afternoon. She returned home today. We also picked out necklaces for you today. I'll get it from my room."

"Cousin!"

I also found it funny to see Linda looking so embarrassed and ashamed.

Linda didn't recognize her own niece. I was speechless.

Chapter 3

This night was destined to be a sleepless night because Ryan said he had something to do at the company and didn't come home.

I looked at my clueless husband and my worried mother-in-law and sighed.

"Linda, let's sleep together tonight and chat."

"Okay, okay."

Adrian was confused.

He didn't know when his wife became so close to his mother.

"Baby, I'm afraid to sleep alone."

Snap.

Linda roared.

"You're a grown-up, but you still act like a child. I don't know why Mia likes you."

I touched Adrian's head to comfort him.

"I guess Linda doesn't like any man now. She is venting her anger."

It was my first time sleeping with Linda. I was so excited.

Although I didn't mind her bad temper, I'd seize this opportunity to make our relationship better.

"When Ryan and I first got married, he had nothing. He even rented a house. We worked hard together, getting up early and going to bed late. Those days were hard, but we were very happy...

"Then life gradually got better. He told me that I had worked hard and asked me to enjoy myself at home. But how could him change..."

I looked at Linda's crying and twitching back without saying a word.

I just patted her shoulders like my mother did when I was a child to coax me to sleep.

There was some truth in the saying that men became bad when they had money.

Ryan was a gentleman in his 40s who had a good figure and money.

There were so many young girls coming to him every day that he would make mistakes if he couldn't control himself.

But I hated it when men cheat.

Because that was how my dad left my mom alone.

I looked at Linda who fell asleep while crying in my arms, and gently wiped away the tears from the corners of her eyes.

"Linda, don't worry. I will help you."

The next morning, at around 6 o'clock, Linda took me out of the house stealthily.

"Linda, where are you taking me? And we dressed like this."

I saw that we were both wearing black clothes, black pants, black sunglasses and a scarf. We were like stars.

"I found the addresses of those women. Let's go check them out first."

"Linda, we can just find someone. We don't have to..."

We didn't have to do this ourselves. The words I hadn't said yet were drowned out by her frightened yet stubborn eyes.

She actually just wanted to give up.

It was not so easy for her to let go of decades of marriage.

"Okay, I have nothing to do today. I'll go with you."

That day we visited more than 30 neighborhoods and secretly observed more than 20 women.

They had different looks and types.

Some of them even had boyfriends. I didn't understand Ryan's aesthetic taste.

But as I watched Linda become more and more silent, I didn't know how to comfort her.

I had no choice but to take her to the mall, hoping to divert her attention.

"Linda, let's go shopping."

"Okay."

I sighed inwardly as I watched Linda frequently getting distracted while picking clothes. I was not good at emotional matters.

...

It had been three days since our last survey. Linda had not gone out during these days.

Her mood was bad.

I decided to find something for her to do.

I took Linda out of bed early in the morning. Looking at her eyes, I knew that she did not sleep well yesterday.

It was because Ryan hadn't come home these days...

"Mia, what did you ask the stylist to do?"

Linda, who had not yet woken up, spoke with a nasal voice, soft like a little girl.

So cute!

"Of course we're dressing up. We're going to the company today to stake our claim."

"No, that's not good. Ryan told me to go to the company, saying that it has a bad influence."

She had been doing this all along, managing all the matters at home.

She seldom went to the company. And people in her own company hardly knew her.

"Linda, don't you want to investigate this?"

"I want to, but..."

Looking at my hesitant mother-in-law, I took out my trump card.

"Linda, if Ryan really cheated on you, do you want everyone else to take away everything that Adrian has?"

"No! No one is allowed to take Adrian's things!"

Sure enough, I knew that the mother would not be able to bear the mention of the possibility of her son being bullied.

"Humph! As the hostess, I could go to the company. Come in and put on my makeup so that it will amaze everyone."

I was also very pleased to see Linda cheering up.

There was nothing I could do if she rejected me.

Ding!

I frowned as I looked at the message on my phone. Ryan was really a scumbag!
