Chapter 1

1

Ian Abbott and I broke up last month.

The reason was he loved work more than me so we spent little time together.

Sometimes we might not have a chat for ten days or half a month. He needed his job, not me.

I was so angry that my eyes were swollen from crying, so I called my best friend to vent, "I will curse him at home!"

"Bella Conner, get money to settle the gas fee for the young man!"

What?

Before my mom even entered the house, her loud voice brought my grief to an abrupt end.

Postage?

Express delivery?

I wiped away my tears roughly, hung up the phone, and ran out to open the door.

As soon as the door opened, I was dumbfounded!

Damn it.

My ex-boyfriend helped my mom to stand in the doorway!!!

We hadn't met each other's parents yet, and they didn't know each other.

Both of my eyes widened, and I asked in the most serious in 25 years, "Mom, give him toilet paper?"

My mom was busy admiring the handsome guy and didn't hear me at all.

But from the moment I opened the door, the man standing next to her stared straight at me without any restraint.

He took a step towards me, handsome and imposing, "Toilet paper?"

I was so embarrassed.

I just wanted to tease him.

He was really handsome.

My heart suddenly skipped a beat.

You came to my house yourself. I didn't go for you.

I compressed my lips and looked into his eyes. It seemed like the same desire was burning in his deep ink-like eyes, making me restless. I wanted to immediately act coquettish and throw myself into his arms in the next second, begging for reconciliation.

Just as my hand reached out, I saw him slightly turn his body and turn up the corners of his lips as he coolly asked my mom, "Auntie, can I use your restroom?"

I was completely dumbfounded.

"Excuse me."

Then, he walked past me without even glancing at me.

Damn!

I was just being delusional.

My heart suddenly turned cold halfway.

2

I sat on the sofa, feeling unhappy.

My mom also signed and sat down next to me, giving a comment, "He is handsome and kind. When he saw me fall off my bike on the road, he kindly sent me back."

Then she patted her thigh with regret, "What a pity. I wanted to introduce him to you, but he said he already has a girlfriend. I wonder who the girlfriend of such a handsome young man could be."

Could that be me?

My eyes lit up and I emphasized, "Did he say he has a girlfriend?"

As a responsible worker, my ex-boyfriend only cared about work and had no interest in other women, except for me.

He had a girlfriend.

He must have subconsciously assumed we hadn't broken up. I felt like I was back in the game.

As soon as Ian came out, I immediately stood on the bench and cornered him at the sink, asking, "Can't you forget about me, can you?"

A light smile appeared at the corner of his mouth, and his hand naturally wrapped around my waist, as if he was worried that I would fall, protecting me carefully.

He didn't say anything, just lowered his head and looked at me deeply and tenderly.

I felt like I lost my strength all of a sudden. I unconsciously put my arms around his neck and reasoned with him, "Do you know how long it's been since we last met? Are you treating the company as your home now? Are you on call 24 hours a day? What will you do if your health deteriorates? As a modern worker, you should learn to slack off appropriately."

Coming from a rural family, Ian was so naive that he didn't know how to slack off appropriately.

When I messaged him during work hours, he strictly adhered to the time and only replied to me after he finished work.

I was speechless.

"Can you?"

I softened my voice to act coquettishly, preparing to teach him the skill of slacking off.

But he sneered without hesitation and rejected, "No, I can't slack off."

"No?"

I got angry, put my hand down, and said in a huff, "Then go back to your work! We've already broken up anyway."

I had had enough of these days of only speaking a word or two for half a month.

He laughed back in anger and his eyes darkened, "Are you really breaking up with me because of this?"

I felt so aggrieved. It felt like being a widow when I was in a relationship. He was too upright. I just wanted him to slack off a bit.

Seeing that I didn't answer him for two seconds, his face turned completely black and he said, "Fine, as you wish, we break up!"

After saying that, he angrily left my house.

I froze!!!

My mom didn't know what happened. She scolded me and criticized me for not settling the gas money for him.

"Gas is so expensive now. His crappy motorcycle is not worth the gas money."

I didn't know what to say.

I stood by the window and looked down, watching him ride a broken motorcycle, so cool.

Bastard!

He made me cry again.

We were both workers, but he was busier than me.

I even wondered if being busy was just his excuse. After all, I was the one who pursued him.

Chapter 2

3

I was completely out of love.

I cried my eyes out every day, but still had to go to work on time the next day.

This was the tragedy of being a worker.

But I was dumbfounded when I arrived at the company.

I only knew that the new financial director was surnamed Abbott, and everyone called him Mr. Abbott.

But they didn't tell me that Mr. Abbott's full name was Ian Abbott!!!

Damn it.

When we were dating, Ian only told me that he might be promoted, but he didn't tell me he was coming to my company.

I thought he would just be promoted to a supervisor. But after not seeing him for three months, he became my immediate supervisor.

And I even taught him how to slack off!

I thought I died on the day I broke up with him.

...

At the company reception, Ian sat at the center of the executives' stage, looking dignified and impressive.

I was trembling in the employee area.

The leader passionately painted a rosy picture on stage and even called me out to give a speech.

Just because the idiotic colleague sitting next to me thought I had Parkinson's and raised my hand to check, the leader mistakenly thought I had volunteered.

Damn.

I was so embarrassed that I thought about making a casual speech from the side of the stage.

Ian, who had always been silent, took a microphone and calmly said, "Are you Bella Conner? Please come to the center of the stage."

I was speechless.

If you wanted to retaliate against me, just say it. Before you took action, I could bury myself.

I wanted to cry.

I trembled and moved to Ian's side. Damn, he was still so handsome, but I was even more cowardly.

I had mixed feelings at the moment. I dared not look at his face because I was afraid.

I started my speech with a brave expression, "I have six points to talk about regarding the hard work of employees..."

"The company is like our home. The company's affairs are family affairs and all the people in the company are family..."

I never expected that in my lifetime, I would fool around in the workplace in front of Ian.

I felt so ashamed.

"This colleague said it very well."

Ian took the microphone and coldly mocked me in front of 3,000 employees, "I wonder if your family would agree with what you just said? After all, my ex-girlfriend broke up with me because I treated the company as my family."

Ex-girlfriend...

I completely froze and my teeth were chattering. My voice got lower and lower, "Oh, really? Then she is really unreasonable."

Ian snorted coldly. I felt his usual charming smile reveal a hint of murderous intent today.

I fled in panic.

Damn.

I was finished.

4

I got off the stage forlornly.

My colleague Cindy pulled me aside and gossiped, "Don't you see that Manager Dixon is interested in Mr. Abbott? Her eyes are attached to him."

"Isn't Manager Dixon the girlfriend of Mr. Levy?"

Flora Dixon from the Brand Department was so pure and beautiful, with a good education and outstanding abilities. I also liked her.

Everyone in the company thought she was a good match for Harry Levy, the boss of the Marketing Department.

He was also a handsome young talent.

They were a perfect couple.

What Cindy said hit home, "She's with Mr. Levy, but she likes Mr. Abbott. Is there a conflict?"

I looked at her and lost my words for two seconds. Then I felt like my perspective instantly expanded.

Although I never thought that Ian was such a shallow man who only likes beautiful women, Manager Dixon was very nice.

She was not only beautiful but also intelligent.

What if they really had something...

While worrying about this, I saw Ian and Flora talking while passing me.

Ian didn't even look at me, treating me completely as a stranger colleague. No, to be more accurate, he treated me as a subordinate.

I felt a little uncomfortable.

I couldn't control myself but snuck up on them.

I watched them enter Manager Dixon's office.

Manager Dixon smiled and closed the office door as she turned around.

When did she ever close the door when discussing business???

I had a bad feeling about this.

Chapter 3

5

I had become Ian's subordinate, working for him.

It was inevitable that I had to deal with work matters with him, so I could only quietly remove him from the blacklist on WhatsApp.

Just after I added him back on WhatsApp, the chat box with the name [Babe Abbott] immediately popped up a message, [Huh, I thought you were going to block me forever.]

How could he find out so quickly that I added him back???

I felt a chill down my spine and immediately flattered, [How could that be, Mr. Abbott?]

He was now the boss, no longer my boyfriend from before. I couldn't afford to offend him.

The next period of time was the hardest working days of my career.

Ian really had learned my slacking off skills well.

From morning till night, he had me fully booked.

I didn't even have time to slack off and I even had to run to the bathroom.

Even my colleague Cindy came over to praise me, "It's true that when your boss is handsome, you will work hard."

I was speechless and could only swallow my grievances.

6

As soon as Ian came, the focus of the chat group's daily chats changed, all of them were praising his handsomeness.

[Mr. Abbott is so handsome and he even wears a white shirt today. It really hit my heart, so sexy.]

[I want to unbutton his shirt and touch his abs.]

I looked at the screen and reminisced about the scene where I touched his abs when I was in love with him before.

I swallowed my saliva and started thinking about him again, thinking about his eight-pack abs.

It felt great to sleep in bed and touch it.

[I almost crashed into Mr. Abbott's strong arms today. I almost called him husband.]

[I want to sleep with Mr. Abbott tonight and sleep with Mr. Levy tomorrow night.]

[Damn it, you're the only one who has all the handsome guys. What should we do? Hahaha.]

...

Suddenly, a message made an uproar in the group.

[I just went to get water and saw the two of them talking in the pantry. After I went there, they went to the office.]

Ian and Flora were together again?!

I felt so jealous.

Last time they were locked in the office, and I didn't know what they were doing.

[You really have no insight. Why don't you go and take a look?]

[Damn it, I sent you there.]

[Or let Bella go. she's the most gossiping one.]

Me?

Sure.

I took a report and went to Ian's office.

This time they didn't close the door. I stood at the door and looked into the office. I didn't know what they were talking about, but I could tell they were having a good time.

I hadn't seen Ian smile for a long time.

He had a bad temper and always had a dark face.

I felt like I was looking for trouble. My chest felt uncomfortable, like it was stuffed with cotton. I compressed my lips and subconsciously wanted to retreat.

Just as I was about to leave, Ian asked, "What's the matter?"

Ian suddenly looked up and saw me.

There was no nostalgia in his eyes.

"I..."

I felt extremely depressed and clenched the documents in my hand.

"Is this Bella?" Manager Dixon also turned around and smiled at me.

I was a little surprised. We were in different departments, so she shouldn't know my name.

I nodded awkwardly, "Yes, Manager Dixon."

Ian gave an indifferent order, "I'll find you later. Go to work first."

I was speechless.

Pinching my fingertips into my palm, I answered, "Okay, Mr. Abbott."

10 minutes later, Flora came out from inside.

I had to work overtime after a breakup.

Even the cows in the field were resting, but I was still working hard.

My goodness! The work was endless.

Chapter 4 Instant Noodles.

7

I looked up and glanced at his office. The lights were still on and he was still there!

What the hell? He said he would come to me in 10 minutes. Why hadn't he come? Did I really have to work until dawn?

I looked up and wanted to cry, then devoted myself to work again.

After a while, Ian sent me two words on WhatsApp which made me excited.

[Come in.]

I was coming, my dear Mr. Abbott.

In the office, Ian held the fixed asset inventory form that I had just completed. Without even looking up, he said lightly, "Not a bad job."

Hearing his praise, before I could feel happy, he continued the next second, "Make the equity merger and acquisition analysis."

Damn.

I gritted my teeth and said, "Mr. Abbott, that's not my responsibility."

He finally looked up at me and said in an official tone, "Now it's your responsibility."

"Ian!"

I couldn't help but call out his name, daring to challenge his authority.

He rolled his Adam's apple and smiled in the night, "What's up?"

I swallowed my saliva and held it in for a while before saying, "You're going to jail."

He burst out laughing with rage.

Back at my desk, I planned to work until dawn. It was just a plan, of course.

When Ian finished work, he walked past me and asked me to go home. I ignored him and retorted, "I'm busy earning money to renovate the toilet for your mansion. Don't bother me." He left angrily.

His temper was getting bigger and bigger.

I was busy writing when a message appeared on WhatsApp.

It was concise and clear, [Come to the underground garage.]

The sender was Ian.

If he was worried about me and wanted to send me home after work, he could just come right out and say it. Why did he ask me to the underground garage?

I felt happy. When we were together before, he always worried about me and came to pick me up when I worked overtime.

When I thought about it, I realized that I had really been unreasonable before. I decided that after going downstairs, I would apologize to him sincerely and never quarrel with him again.

I quickly went downstairs with my bag and arrived at the garage. From a distance, I saw Ian standing in front of a black Mercedes sports car.

Was that his car???

Sure, now that he had been promoted to the director, he should have a car like that.

I hesitated and went over. Before I could speak, he said, "Please move your bike."

He pointed to the front of the sports car, where there was an old red e-bike.

It was mine.

It turned out that he wasn't worried about me and wanted to give me a ride, but he wanted me to move my bike.

Fuck him off!

I turned around to glare at him, but out of the corner of my eye, I saw another woman sitting in his car.

It was Manager Dixon.

I heard something break.

I cried as I rode my bike, but I couldn't wipe away my tears.

It was late, and there weren't many people on the road. Fortunately, there was a car accompanied me all the way.

Just as I got home, I was parking my bike and wiping away my tears of sadness when the car suddenly accelerated, and a figure of a sports car flashed by.

I was speechless.

Well.

It turned out to be a capitalist who had just finished a party and was on his way home.

8

I met Ian in the 711 convenience store downstairs in the office area.

He often ate instant noodles there, especially in the evenings after work.

He was tall and handsome, almost standing out from the crowd.

The girls who worked the area would all go to 711 to buy food so they could meet him. The shopkeeper was happy to see them.

For a period of time, I worked overtime until late every day and had a meal at 711. As always, I saw him there. He still looked indifferent, handsome and cold, eating instant noodles alone.

He must be very poor, I thought.

On the 21st day of our chance meeting, I was still sitting across from him. I couldn't stand it any longer and finally said, "Do you want to eat this?"

I shook the ham sausage in my hand.

As a worker here, his experience really made me feel sad. A handsome but poor guy worked overtime every day and could only eat instant noodles.

I thought he would refuse, but he thanked me.

In return, he said it was getting late and he could take me home if I didn't mind.

How could I mind a handsome guy????

I was moved to tears on the spot.

Damn!

If I knew I could take a handsome guy home with a ham sausage, why would I be so reserved before?

After that, our relationship finally made substantial progress.

Well, we just went from strangers to mutually encouraging labourers.

He told me that his name was Ian, his mother was a housewife, and his father was engaged in agriculture.

Farmer?

I understood it all at once. Sure enough, he was from a poor family.

His father worked in the fields, and his mother was sick most of the time and needed to rest at home, so he worked so hard and was so thrifty.

But so what? I didn't mind. I still liked him.

He used to take me home on his motorbike at night, and our relationship gradually warmed up.

However, the seat of the motorcycle always hurt my butt.

I sat in the back and complained, thinking that when I got him, the first thing I had to do was to give him an e-bike with a tarpaulin on the back seat, on the premise of taking care of his self-esteem.

"What?"

Ian, who was riding the motorcycle, took off his helmet, shook his hair, and looked straight into my eyes.

I was so overwhelmed by his handsome appearance that I was speechless.

I liked his face so much.

I really liked him, but I had never dared to confess to him.

I didn't know what happened to me today, but with great courage, I said, "I want you to be my boyfriend."

My heart was beating fast. I dared not look at him but could only lower my head to stare at the floor.

Ian's charming smile spread in the night.

Soon, I heard him say, "Okay."

...

We started dating officially.

In the beginning, we were both very reserved and only held hands.

That day, he leaned against my earbone ambiguously and said with a serious tone, "I have something very important to ask for your consent."

I thought we could go further. With an expectant face, I asked, "What is it?"

Ian said, "Next time, don't add ham sausages into my instant noodles. I actually don't like it."

I was speechless.

In my heart, I buried my ex-boyfriend, mourning for my ridiculous love.
