Chapter 3

What? Could it be that those days, all I drank was...? Thinking of that and smelling it, I almost vomited at the door. Then, Sophia called another person.

"My granddaughter is still there, right? If it's inconvenient for you to receive the delivery, I'll deliver it to you personally. Just take a photo. The child's mom is crazy and she insisted on seeing it."

What? Still there?

Sophia didn't know about Kelly's current situation?

I had a lot of thoughts in my mind.

But I didn't push the door.

The next day, I forced myself to finish the disgusting medicine. When Sophia found an excuse to go out, I pretended to take a nap and then secretly followed her. It was about two kilometers from home. Sophia walked to a local restaurant. There weren't many guests inside. Seeing her coming, the front desk clerk opened the back door directly. I pretended to look at the menu and glanced inside out of the corner of my eye that it was just a backyard.

"Madam, are you ready to order now?"

I silently pulled up the mask.

"Just the specialty."

When the dishes were almost served, Sophia came out from behind, chatting and laughing with the proprietress.

After Sophia left, I was afraid of being discovered not being at home, so I packed up all the food and gave it to my neighbor downstairs.

Fortunately, Sophia didn't suspect anything.

She handed me the phone with a smug look on her face.

"See, she is well taken care of. Don't worry. I'll return her to you when my grandson is born."

I looked at the picture and found no bruises on her body, but her cheeks were a little thinner.

As long as she wasn't abused, that was fine.

I felt relieved.

But I just always felt like something was wrong.

Maybe because Kelly had lost too much weight.

"Well, well, give me back my phone. Instead of thinking too much, you might as well try hard. When you get older, there will be so many risks. Don't affect my grandson."

I was speechless.

Kelly should be in that local restaurant.

As I was trying to think of an excuse to get out, John's wife suddenly came to my house.

"Sophia, are you home? Celina, I have something to talk with her."

"She's out."

Hearing that, she sat down on the sofa and raised her hand to ask me to pour water. She also ridiculed me for being born to serve others. I ignored her. After all, everyone knew that Sophia liked John's family the most. I couldn't cause any trouble now. Otherwise, Sophia would really not let me find Kelly. By the way, John's wife had gained weight again recently. She was originally 65 kilograms. Now, she should be at least 70 kilograms. Could it be that she was pregnant again? It turned out that I was right.

As soon as Sophia came back, John's wife took her arm and said she had an abortion, so she wanted Sophia to take care of her.

As far as I knew, John's wife had had several previous abortions that John didn't approve of. But she thought she was too young, so she insisted on abortions. John was indeed much older than her. John was 26 years old and she was only 20 years old. At first, Sophia was proud of her son for marrying such a young girl and went around bragging about John.

"Sophia, if you can't, let Celina take care of me. She's capable of taking care of all of us."

Her coquettish tone and words made me want to beat her. Fortunately, I used the excuse of preparing for pregnancy, so Sophia went take care of her. In fact, Sophia knew that John's wife didn't like to have children and had an abortion as soon as she got pregnant, so she had to force me to have a son.

Devin was busy with work, so I was basically the only one at home.

Then I took the opportunity to go to the local restaurant again.

There weren't many people there that day. After I ordered, I wanted to open the door to the backyard while the front desk clerk wasn't paying attention. Unfortunately, I was discovered.

Chapter 4

The proprietress looked alert. I immediately pretended to be anxiously looking for the toilet. She paused for a moment and then pointed me in the opposite direction. There was definitely something wrong in that backyard. After she left, many guests suddenly appeared in the restaurant. I also took the opportunity to sneak into the backyard. There were just a few rooms with curtains drawn there. I saw inside one of them and it looked like a hotel room. Suddenly, there were several sounds of babies crying and the proprietress cursing angrily.

"Sons of bitches, you drank three cans of powdered milk in two days. Later, the buyer will come and pick you out. If you dare to cry again, I will beat you to death."

My first reaction was to call the police. The proprietress actually trafficked children. Think of Kelly, I waited for her to leave and went upstairs, then quickly entered the room. I didn't expect that there were seven or eight babies in cribs inside. Just as I ran to the door to call for help, suddenly, I was discovered by the front desk clerk. He covered my mouth with his hand and apologized to the guests present.

"Sorry, this is my wife. She has some mental problems. Sorry to interrupt your meal. I'll give everyone a salad later."

As soon as he finished speaking, I bit his hand and called out, "Traffickers, they are child traffickers. Come to save children with me."

Unexpectedly, a bunch of people rushed into the backyard after hearing my words so that I came last. It wasn't until the proprietress was handcuffed and brought out that I realized that those people were police officers.

"Please come with us to the police station to make a statement later."

I nodded woodenly. It took me a long time to figure out that the local restaurant was a prostitution den. Some police officers had been waiting there for a long time. Unexpectedly, with the help of me, they also found out about their child trafficking.

According to the proprietress, many of the girls she trained had lost their lives due to abortions.

Some babies were born, but there was no one to raised them. So the proprietress got into the business of buying and selling children. And those babies couldn't remember things now. She was the middleman, getting a bargain for both parties.

In fact, those girls who were trained were all deceived by her. She threatened them with their family members. If they dared to run away, she would kill their families. Those babies were also abducted by her. It sounded like she did it for others.

I stopped visiting the proprietress.

Many parents gathered in the police station. I didn't see Kelly in those babies.

But Sophia...

My brain exploded.

I tried to rush into the interrogation room but was stopped. The police told me to go home and wait, and they would notify me when there was any news. Sophia must know something. I immediately rushed to John's house. As a result, as soon as I entered the door, I was scolded by John.

"Celina, are you really crazy? You sent my mom to jail for your daughter. Go to bring my mom back. We can forgive you."

John's wife crossed her arms and echoed him.

"Celina, you are so awesome. What if Devin knows it? You actually sent his mom to jail for your daughter. So amazing. Sophia still made soup for you to drink. Shame on you!"

In jail?

I rushed to the police station again. Devin was already there. He looked gloomy, glanced at me and said nothing. Then when I saw Sophia, she pointed directly at me and explained hurriedly.

"This is my daughter-in-law. Is it illegal for me to sell our own child? She won't pursue the matter, right? Celina, speak up!"

My breath was choked. She sold Kelly?

"You sold Kelly? Where did you sell her to? I followed you to that local restaurant before. Where is Kelly?"
