Chapter 4
Hannah shot a dark look at me.
Isaac suddenly rushed forward, much to everyone's bewilderment. He grabbed my hand and exclaimed, "It's true that Colin wronged you, Hannah, but I'm sure that he's learned his lesson. Why don't we just let bygones be bygones?"
I stared at him cautiously as I watched him defend me. It was already a wonder that he wasn't trying to kick me while I was down, which made his standing up for me utterly unreasonable.
As expected, Isaac suddenly crumpled to the floor before looking up at me in disbelief, saying, "I really don't want this situation to escalate, Colin."
Chaos descended upon the room.
Hannah hastily dashed over to Isaac's side and helped him to his feet.
"I truly just want to get along with you, Colin," Isaac choked out in a voice that was thick with tears.
Everyone around us pinned me with disdainful glares upon hearing his words.
"How revolting. I can't believe such a despicable man actually exists."
"He started getting physical just because he failed to steal Isaac's girlfriend. He's the scum of the earth!"
They then grabbed the slices of cake and glasses of champagne that were on a nearby table and began hurling them at me.
It didn't take long before I was covered in cake and champagne, making me look utterly pathetic.
I stood rooted to the spot, glaring at Isaac loathingly. I was going to make him pay for his transgressions against me.
However, before I could make my move, a masculine voice resounded across the room.
"What are you doing?"
Grandpa strolled into the room with his cane.
Mom rushed forward immediately to air her complaints.
"You have no idea, Dad. After Colin found out that Isaac had a girlfriend, not only did he try to steal her away from Isaac, but he also raised his hand against him."
"I—"
Something hard and heavy smashed against my back before I could finish my sentence.
Grandpa's eyes were brimming with disappointment when he looked at me.
"We didn't bring you home for you to cause a ruckus in the family!"
I curled up on the floor, unable to crawl back up to my feet.
Grandpa was the only one in the Letterman family who treated me somewhat fairly. Although everyone else showed favoritism toward Isaac, he allowed us to use our own ways to compete for the title of the successor of the family.
However, at that moment, he had chosen to believe Isaac's lies without hearing my side of the story first.
I gritted my teeth and pushed myself up.
"I did no such things! Hannah is my girlfriend!"
Unable to hold herself back anymore upon hearing my words, Hannah kicked me in my stomach and said, "I see you're still determined to stick to your lies even now. Throw this bastard out of the house. We shouldn't allow him to keep spouting nonsense."
The security guards flanked me and hauled me up to my feet upon hearing Hannah's orders.
I frantically thrashed around. When we passed by Grandpa, I threw myself at his feet and grabbed the hem of his pants.
"I'm begging you, Grandpa. Please give me a chance! I can prove that I'm telling the truth!"
The color drained from Isaac's face. "Don't believe his lies, Grandpa! Colin has lost his mind!"
"He's lost it, Mr. Letterman Senior," Hannah chimed in. "He just wants to destroy everything. We should throw him out as soon as possible!"
I knew that Grandpa was my last hope.
"Just give me three minutes. I have proof to back up what I'm saying," I exclaimed, raising my voice.
Everyone turned their gazes on Grandpa.
Grandpa swept his sharp gaze over me. "Three minutes. If you can't prove that you're telling the truth, you'll be exiled from the Letterman family," he said coldly.
