Chapter 4
I clenched my fists and pressed against the wall to steady myself, forcing a smile. "I'm not faking it. It's just my stomach acting up. Am I not even allowed to get sick?"
With Chloe here, live on stream, there was nothing I could do. I had no choice but to leave this chaotic scene.
However, Chloe wouldn't let me go. She even urged Daniel to finish the remaining burgers.
"Don't act up again. Consider this a lesson," she said coldly.
Back at the hospital, the doctor glared at me in exasperation, asking why I had eaten again. He wondered if I had some sort of binge‑eating disorder and even suggested I see a therapist.
I laughed bitterly. In truth, I hadn't eaten properly in days. My stomach felt perpetually full.
This time, the doctor refused to discharge me. I had to stay in the hospital for treatment. I listened, obediently remaining in the ward.
It didn't take long before I sensed Daniel bingeing once more.
I opened the live stream and saw Chloe taking him on a food tour, ordering everything in the restaurant.
At the same time, a message popped up on my phone from Daniel. "Ryan, Chloe took me out of town. There's so much good food, and I don't want to waste any of it. I'll eat it all."
My blood boiled. I wanted nothing more than to fly there and tear Daniel apart.
Then, my eyes landed on the medication the doctor had prescribed me.
Finally, it all clicked. I understood why this was happening.
The moment the truth hit me, I jumped from the hospital bed in joy.
Over the next few days, Daniel traveled from one restaurant to another, livestreaming every stop. His streams caused quite a stir online. He could eat massive portions and never purge, yet somehow maintain his figure.
Other competitive eaters grew jealous and challenged him. Daniel accepted without hesitation, agreeing to a showdown with a fellow streamer who had over a million followers.
In my previous life, it was this exact contest that had killed me at home. This time, I lounged in the hospital bed, resting and recovering before leaving.
Soon, the day of the competition arrived. Over ten thousand viewers flooded the live stream instantly.
Ten massive bowls of mashed potatoes were lined up in front of Daniel. As he lifted the first serving to eat, his expression wavered, and he instinctively set it back down.
Chloe panicked. "Dan, hurry up! They've already started!"
He forced a nod and tried to continue, but hunched over, gripping his stomach. Chloe leaned in to check on him.
Then, in front of a live audience of more than ten thousand, Daniel let out an enormous fart that echoed across the stream.
The next instant, the stench spread through the room, and he passed out cold.
I couldn't stop laughing at the scene.
A moment later, Chloe's call came through. "What did you do?"
I smiled faintly. "Take a guess."
