Chapter 1
The day before the wedding, Rachel, my soon-to-be bride died in a car accident. Everyone thought I would die, but I didn't cry or make a fuss.
Five years later, we met by chance in a hotel. She had lost her memory after coming back from the dead. Amid the cheers of a group of people, she kissed my stepbrother until the thread was drawn.
Seeing that I was alone, she smiled proudly, "I heard that you are my fiancé? You have been waiting for me for five years. You are a dog-licker. Do you even worth to have me?"
"I know you love me to death. Since you have been chaste for me for five years, I can buy you a house outside, but I will only get the marriage certificate with Patrick. From now on, I will accompany Patrick on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays and visit you on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays. You can be happy secretly."
I was indeed happy, "Sorry, you recognized the wrong person."
Rachel didn't know that I received a video on the night of her car accident.
She didn't know that in the five years when she and Patrick were happy, I had married other women and even my child was four years old now. And this woman was her aunt.
——
When I saw Rachel again, I didn't expect this scene. She hugged Patrick's waist and the two of them pressed tightly together, responding to the constant booing around them and kissed until they were drawn.
A few minutes later, Rachel's cheeks were flushed and she softened in his arms, complaining, "Little wolfdog is so fierce, your kiss hurt my lips."
Patrick pressed her hand on his abdominal muscles, "Who made you so delicious, any man can't help it..."
The booing in the room was even louder and Rachel's bestie laughed and called him a brother-in-law.
Rachel raised her eyebrows, but her whole body fell on him like a boneless person.
Someone joked, "Rachel, it's been five years, Mike really doesn't care anymore?"
Rachel leaned back on the sofa behind her and shrugged indifferently, "I don’t even care. Why should I? I haven't had enough fun yet, I will naturally recover my memory after Patrick and I finish the wedding."
"Everyone knows that Mike loves Rachel so much that he wants to lick her feet. Seeing that Rachel is still alive, I'm afraid he will kneel down on the nine thousand steps and ask the Buddha to bless Rachel like he did five years ago."
"Hahaha, I laugh to death just thinking about Mike's shameless way of giving himself up. He is invincible for being such a licking dog. I heard that he had a miserable life abroad in the past five years. Without Rachel, he almost couldn't survive."
The laughter in the whole room almost blew off the roof.
I wanted to leave, but someone with sharp eyes saw me.
"Mike!"
Rachel's best friend, who just laughed at me for being the loudest bootlicker, now awkwardly made up for it, "Rachel is still alive. We didn't tell you because she lost her memory and fell in love with another man. We were afraid you couldn't stand it."
"Yes, yes, we all know that Rachel loves you the most in her heart, but she has forgotten you. Even if you make a fuss now, she will only think you are crazy."
I looked at this group of women with poor acting skills and found it ridiculous.
But before I could speak, Rachel stood up first and said contemptuously, "I heard that you are my fiancé who loves me to death?"
Glancing at my simple clothes, she looked disgusted, "Without me, how can you live like this? Do you even worth to have me?"
Rachel was still the same Rachel, arrogant and invincible.
After five years of not seeing each other, when I was looking at the hidden pride between her eyebrows, I no longer had the initial throbbing. Only disgust remained.
I just got off the plane and haven't adjusted to the jet lag.
I came to this hotel because my daughter's favorite strawberry mousse was the only one here.
Seeing that I didn't say anything, she pulled Patrick's neck and gave him a short French kiss. When they pulled away, there was still a thread at the corners of their mouths.
Chapter 2
"Rachel, if we do this, my brother will be heartbroken. I'd better leave."
He said this, but his feet didn't move at all. The bottom of her eyes looking at me were full of pride that she didn't bother to hide.
I pursed my lips, feeling physically uncomfortable.
Rachel misunderstood my expression, her eyebrows and eyes were happy, "What are you afraid of? You will be my husband in the future. If he still wants to be with me, he has to get used to it."
She raised her eyebrows at me, "Since you have been chaste for me for the past five years, I can buy you a house outside, but I will only get married with Patrick. From now on, I will accompany Patrick on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays and visit you on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays. On Sundays, you come to serve us."
A group of people immediately joined in.
"Mike, look, Rachel has not forgotten to love you even though she lost her memory. She even reserved three days a week for you."
"That's right. You have lost yourself in these five years without Rachel. You must have worked as a waiter and toilet cleaner abroad. Hurry up and agree to it. If Rachel changes her mind later, you won't be able to see her even if you kneel down and beg her."
Patrick held Rachel's slender waist, as if to declare sovereignty and looked at me provocatively, "Brother, I don't want to do this either. You can see that Rachel only loves me now, so I can only make you a lover who is not allowed to see the light of day."
"What's a lover? He lives like a dog without me. He would be happy if he was asked to die," Rachel replied with laugh.
My heart felt like it was stabbed by something.
In the car accident five years ago, she used her body as a human shield to protect me.
Before closing her eyes, she held my shaking hand and weakly comforted me over and over again, "Don't be afraid, husband. I can even give up my life for you. No one can hurt you."
A person who loves me so much could really become unrecognizable because of amnesia.
My throat felt like it was filled with rust and it was astringent and painful. I took a deep breath and smiled slightly, "Sorry, you got the wrong person. Besides, I'm married."
After a few seconds of silence, the scene suddenly broke out into violent laughter.
Rachel raised her eyebrows disapprovingly, "Married? Married to a garbage collector or a street sweeper?"
"Mike, you don't think I'll be jealous for finding such a lame excuse, do you? Is your brain okay?"
She keenly noticed the familiar watch on my hand and rudely pulled my wrist, pulling it off without waiting for my reaction.
I frowned in pain and was about to speak when Patrick laughed, "Rachel, isn't this the 'Only Love in This Life' watch that your aunt bought for 2 billion in Country A, five years ago? My brother wouldn't want to say that he married your aunt and became your uncle."
As soon as this was said, everyone laughed even louder.
It was well known that the current person in charge of the Jones Family was Rachel's aunt, Julia Jones. Although she was only five years older than Rachel, she was a person of high status who commanded respect when her name was mentioned. Not only was she cold and beautiful, but she was also devoted and infatuated.
After five years of marriage, no one had even seen her husband and daughter, who were kept hidden by her.
"Brother, you don't even think twice before pretending to be cool? We all believed you were dating a rich woman, but you actually said you were Rachel's uncle. You don't care about your dignity?"
Someone teased with a watch, "You know what, this watch is a replica, it must have cost a lot of money, Mike really worked hard to deceive Rachel."
Facing everyone's doubts and ridicule, I had no choice but to explain, "I didn't fake it, this watch is real..."
Before I finished speaking, I was slapped hard by someone unexpected and the burning pain instantly exploded on my cheek.
Chapter 3
"Are you sick? Why did you touch my aunt? Everyone knows that my aunt loves my uncle the most. Would she want a second-hand product like you that even I don't want? Even if there is no mirror, she would pee and look at it. I hate rubbish like you who pretends to be thieves everywhere just to be jealous. I was really blind before and I actually fell in love with a man like you. It's really cheap!"
I covered my face and turned my head slowly. Maybe my eyes were too calm, Rachel suddenly turned her head away with guilt.
But Patrick refused to let me go, "Brother, Rachel is willing to let you be her lover even though she has lost her memory. It's fine if you are not grateful, but you actually want to harm her. You know that President Jones cares most about her husband and you dare to pretend to be Rachel's uncle. You are not just asking for bad luck for her. You are too selfish and vicious!"
Patrick was my stepmother's son. On the seventh day of my mother's death, even though we were still in the mourning hall, my father pressed my head to accept this brother who was one year younger than me.
He was like a lingering ghost, unable to tolerate all the beauty around me. He took away what could be taken away and destroyed what couldn’t be taken away.
Five years ago, Rachel would protect me with her slender body and scold Patrick coldly. Now, the person in front of me was still that person. But she stood in front of Patrick and threw out a stack of money with disdain on her face.
"You've done so much just for the money, pick it up."
The sharp paper scratched my forehead. A tiny drop of blood came out, I didn't wipe it off, but I saw a subtle nervousness in Rachel's eyes.
The next second, I bent down.
She was relieved and laughed mockingly, "Is that right? A licker should act like a licker..."
I picked up the watch thrown in the corner from a pile of red banknotes.
Rachel stared at me in disbelief and a sense of panic arose in her heart for no reason.
Before I was about to leave, she suddenly grabbed my hand, "Are you addicted to pretending? Isn't the money here enough to buy you a fake broken watch?"
I didn’t understand why she was so anxious, "Let me go."
She glared at me with gritted teeth, "You really won't cry until you see the coffin. Okay, Patrick and I will hold a wedding in a week. My aunt will return to China on that day. You can also come to watch the ceremony and let my aunt recognize you, the rubbish I threw away, how shameless you are."
When Patrick heard about getting married, he couldn't hide the joy on his face, "Brother, you are not afraid of being exposed and dare not come, right?"
I put the watch away carefully and replied indifferently, "Okay, I will go, I hope you don't regret it."
I walked out of the room and stopped at the door for a few minutes.
Rachel's best friend sighed, "Rachel, you didn't play too much, did you? Why do I think Mike is not right? He won't really get married, right?"
"How is it possible? He is just acting." Rachel's tone was full of certainty, "With his cheap look, it's not just my handshake."
Thinking of my too calm eyes when I left, she pursed her lips unnaturally, "I've had enough fun. After the wedding, I will recover my memory. Then I will complain and say I love him the most. I guarantee that he will lick me like a dog again."
"Otherwise, how can you say Rachel is smart? With one trick of amnesia, she has lived happily outside for five years and she can also make Mike wait for you for five years without regrets."
Patrick complained unwillingly, "Rachel, if you have recovered your memory, what should I do?"
Rachel pinched his abdominal muscles infatuatedly, "It's the same as before and it will be the same in the future. Besides, it's not as exciting as having an affair in public."
I listened quietly and my heart was cold.
