Chapter 2

After the wedding ceremony, I slept overnight in the hotel's temporary wedding room.

Sam slept on the sofa outside.

The following day, Sam took me to his house. I looked at his place with contempt and laughed mercilessly. "Well, you want me to live in a 130-square-yard apartment?"

Facing my malicious insult, Sam wasn't mad. He just smiled and said to me, "I will try my best to buy a bigger one."

I froze for a moment.

I thought that he wouldn't be able to greet my malicious insult with a smile, even if he didn't turn mad.

However, not only did he smile at me warmly, but also he seemed to have made me a promise.

But why did he promise me that?

I wouldn't spend my whole life with him.

I didn't soften my heart because of his words. After all, I was the victim of this marriage.

I continued to mock him without mercy. "Tell you what? You can never buy a three-story villa like mine or Pedro's even if you work hard all your life."

He said nothing, but his face showed a hint of hurt and frustration. Then, he went to the kitchen by himself.

I sat on the sofa, weeping alone.

What would he be sad about?

I should be sad.

Among the four people, I was the only one who was completely unaware of what was going on. Even my parents hid it from me.

I was utterly a joke in this marriage!

Sam went into the kitchen, cooked for us, and brought the food out.

I was sitting on the sofa, playing with my phone absentmindedly. When I saw Sam, I glanced at him with disdain.

Sam came to me and said in a gentle tone, "I cooked for us. Let's eat."

Thinking that he and my family had plotted against me, I couldn't help but become enraged. I took my anger out on Sam, pointing at him angrily, "Sam, didn't you date Sasha for two years? Aren't you mad at all that she married someone else? Don't you love her? You coward!

Sam paused, turned around, and smiled at me. "I married you, so it's not that bad."

I wouldn't have gotten too angry if he hadn't said that.

But upon hearing that, I wished I could kill such a despicable and shameless person.

My chest kept rising and falling, and I laughed in anger. "You finally revealed your plan, didn't you? You dated my sister because you coveted our family background! Now that my sister tricked me and married Pedro and helped you marry me, it would certainly be not that bad for you since I'm also a daughter of the Garret family."

Sam replied, "If you say so."

I rushed over and threw all the food Sam had made to the ground.

"We just had the wedding, but we didn't obtain the marriage certificate yet. I'm afraid your wish will fall through!"

In an instant, the plates were smashed into pieces, the food was splattered everywhere, and the floor was a mess.

Sam pinched his brows helplessly, squatted down to pick up the pieces on the ground, and then fetched the mop in the bathroom to clean up the mess I made.

I thought Sam would at least change his attitude towards me after this. But he didn't say a word, just focusing on cleaning up the mess on the floor.

I inadvertently noticed a drop of blood dripping on the floor and subconsciously looked at Sam's hand as I moved forward.

Sam stopped me. "Don't come over. These pieces may cut your feet."

He somewhat moved me, but I still didn't let him off. I pursed my lips and said, "Hmph, just drop the act!"

After saying that, I turned and left the living room.

Chapter 3

The consequence of destroying the food Sam had prepared was to suffer hunger at night.

I couldn’t cook, and I was living in Sam’s place, so I had to order takeout.

When the takeaway was delivered, Sam was nowhere to be seen, and the lights in the living room were not on.

Holding the takeaway, I was going to go back to the bedroom and eat when Sam suddenly spoke up and scared me.

“My food is much better than the takeout.”

Sam folded his arms and leaned against the door frame of the study.

His showing up in the middle of the night and scaring me made me mad again.

I glared at him fiercely. "I just love takeouts. Why do you care?"

Just as I was about to step into the bedroom, Sam reminded me, "Sierra, I don't care whether you accept our marriage or not. But what's done is done. You can't change it."

After hearing this, my face turned dark as I kicked the door.

Once again, I took my anger out on the door.

Sam and I went to my parents' house a few days later as per convention.

Sasha and Pedro had not arrived yet. My parents treated Sam warmly and had an enjoyable conversation with him without any regard for my feelings.

Thinking of how I had been cheated and the text message my mother sent me on my wedding day, I felt aggrieved and angry. In the end, I couldn't help but vent my emotions on Sam and glared at him fiercely.

Sam smiled at me.

My anger seemed not to bother him at all.

I asked my parents to go upstairs and questioned them privately.

"I can let Sasha have Pedro if she really likes him. There are plenty of men I can choose! I disagreed with her dating poor Sam in the first place. I could always find a boyfriend as rich as Pedro.

But why did you let me marry Sam in the end? I'm not in love with him! I want an abundant life!"

I spoke to my parents in an angry tone, and my dad slammed the table in fury. "You always care so much about money. Haven't I given you enough money since you were young?"

I yelled at my father, "Of course, you've given me a lot of money, but I have the right to choose my own life. My husband can't be a man who earns less than 20,000 dollars a month and has to pay off car loans and mortgages every month!"

I was born into a wealthy family and was used to spending money lavishly every month. I found it difficult to accept a man who couldn't offer me a luxurious life.

My father slapped me hard and said to me bitterly, "You are really not as reasonable as your sister."

I had never been beaten since I was a child.

What my father did almost broke the relationship between him and me.

My parents married me to Sam without my permission and didn't even apologize to me when I questioned them.

I always thought my parents treated Sasha and me fairly and equally.

But at that moment, I thought differently.

I laughed self-deprecatingly and said, "Yeah. I'm not as reasonable as my sister, so you guys just married my sister to Pedro behind my back."

"From now on, just consider I'm dead, and I will never set foot in this house again."

I went downstairs and left quickly.

Sam saw me coming downstairs with red eyes and hurried over to ask, "What's with the tears?"

I pushed him away. "Sam! I'm not your wife. You don't have to chase after me! Do you know how much I hate you?"
