Chapter 7

Clyde Dante

Don't ask me why I keep seeing this girl for the past 3 months. We keep bumping each other, I mean not technically bumping each other but I kept seeing her everywhere and she was always with a different guy every time.

I found myself taking a photo of her different appearance. She kept changing her wigs from black, brunette, redhead and light brown. From long hair to short hair too. She wore a lot of contact lenses from green, blue and brown.

One week before I caught Beverly big time, my grandma called me that she asked me for a big favor. She asked me to stay back in LA where all my family are for 1 year to celebrate her 100th birthday. My family begged me to spend time in LA and I know it's been a long time since I visited them.

I was staying in UK for 2 years and I just got back from UK and now I have to go to LA for 1 year. My grandma keep asking me if I have a girlfriend or no and I kept telling her that I don't have any. Not only my grandma but everyone in my family. I kept begging them to leave me alone.. and they keep lecturing me that I'm almost 30. Gosh.. they're so annoying.

After hundreds of calls, I decided to go to LA but not alone. I need to find a girl who can make my family hate her so they won't force me to get into a relationship again. My mind went straight to Beverly. I caught her and lured her to take the bait and she did. She decided to help but I'm glad for that.

I mean.. she owed me a lot. My car and my phone and my balls that she kicked.

After we took our luggage, we walked out from that section. Beverly linked her arm to me as we walked out. I saw my family already because they literally brought a big pla card that's write 'Welcome Home, Clyde Dante'

I looked at them disbelief and they hugged me right away. There's my parents, my grandmother, my aunt and her husband and my cousins. I realized that Bev was left behind. I turned to her and held her hand.

"Guys, this is Beverly Carington, she's my fiance." I said as I showed them the ring.

"Hello. I'm Beverly. Nice to meet you?" She said in a shy tone. They looked at her weirdly for a while but my grandma hugged her right.

"Nice to meet you, Beverly. I don't know until when will Clyde hide you from me. He has been so secretive these days." My grandma said as she held Bev's hand.

"Nice to meet you, Bev." The others hugged her. Later on, she needs to act like a bitch at home.

"Let's go home." My dad said and smiled. I nodded.

"Let's go babe." I said to Bev and she smiled to me. I was startle because that's the first time I've seen her genuinely smile. She held my hand and leaned her head to my arm.

Gosh this girl is too good when it comes to acting. She acted so natural instead of awkward. I laughed at myself for being an idiot. Of course she's good. She went out with thousands of guys and ruined their relationship by flirting.. kissing.. maybe even have sex.

We put our luggage at the back of the car and we will be riding with my dad, mom and grandma. Grandma sat between me and Beverly. She smiled all the time completely happy to the fact that I'm back in LA with a fiance.

"So where did you two meet?"

"Oh, I was out with my boyfriend.. I mean ex-boyfriend and then I bumped into Clyde at the club." Beverly said and my grandma looked at her weirdly. Yes! That's the spirit.

"Yup, that's how we meet."

"What do you like about Clyde?" My grandma asked again.

"He's rich." Beverly answered bluntly. I wanted to laugh so bad but I can't. I kept controlling my face not to laugh. My grandma turned to me and looked at me weirdly.

"Anything else?"

"He's handsome and good in bed." Gosh! I want to laugh so bad. My dad and mom looked at each other with a really i-don't-like-her expression.

"Oh.. he has a really sexy body." She added and I leaned my head back and closed my eyes. I'm trying so hard to control my laughter.

"Really? I told my husband that too!" Wait! What?

"Really?" Bev asked her disbelief.

"Yes and that's the truth." Grandma said and she laughed. She held Bev's hand and patted it. Oh boy! I know that gesture a lot.

"How old are you?"

"I'm 26." Well I just know about that tooz

"What college did you go?"

"New York University."

"What major?"

"Architect but now I'm jobless." What? Architect?

"Aww you both are an architect and why are you jobless? You can work in Clyde's company." My grandma said.

"Aren't you supposed to be embarrassed for being jobless?" My mom asked in a cold tone.

"I mean.. Clyde is rich, I don't need a job anymore." Good! I saw my mom's jaw drop down to the floor.

"What if Clyde doesn't have a job later on? You should have a job." My mom asked.

"You can't handle Clyde 100%." My dad said.

"Yes, I can." She said confidently.

"Can you cook?" My mom asked.

"Yup, water." She answered and I wanted to clap my hands so bad. She's so damn good.

"Oh my." My mom sighed and my grandma looked at me disbelief. I bet they will give a lecture at night. I glanced at Bev and she winked at me. I looked away and smirked.

She's damn good. Now I kinda get it why people pay her to act. She's good and so natural.

Chapter 8

Beverly Dante

I looked out to the window to see Clyde and his family talking, laughing and still hugging each other. I found myself a little bit envious that he still has a family to be with. I sighed and sat down on the sofa closing my eyes to take a rest for a while.

I did pretend to be bitchy and a little bit annoying earlier but I can't fully act. I know they're nice people and I just can't fully act. I know it from the start. They're so nice and warming. I found myself looking at the ground blankly.

Suddenly Clyde entered the room again and sat beside me.

"You did a great job, they asked me why I picked you as a fiance?" Clyde said excitingly.

"Of course, I'm a good actress. Lucky you.. you got an act from me free." I smiled widely. I hate showing myself to other people that I don't know. I can bluntly tell everything to Becca but not Clyde.

"Yeah, I got it because I caught you turning into different girls every time." He smirked and I chuckled.

"So what do I do now?" I asked.

"Keep your act, I love it. I mean we're going to stay here for a year." He said and I nodded lightly.

"They want you to break up with me huh?" I asked.

"No.. they didn't say that." He said and I turned to see our bed. It's not a king sized bed and it's not a single bed either and how are we going to sleep?

"You sleep on the floor.. or on the sofa. I'll take the bed." I said to him and he shook his head.

"You're sleeping here, I will sleep there." He pointed at the sofa and since I'm not in the mood to argue. I just agree with him. I walked to the bathroom to wash my face and brush my teeth. I need a lot of sleep.

I walked back into the room and gestured him to get up from the sofa. He got off the sofa and sat on the bed. I took one of the blankets and lay my body on it.

I looked at my ring finger and the ring that Clyde gave me is so beautiful. I looked at it again and again until I became sleepy. I went to dreamland right away.

I woke up because Clyde poked my arm. My eyes slowly opened and got up slowly.

"Let's go eat breakfast." He said and I nodded. He held my arm and helped me get up.

"Wait.. I need to brush my teeth and wash my face."

"No need, just get out like this." He said as he dragged me outside. I held his hand naturally without feeling anything and we walked downstairs hand in hand. I rubbed my eyes and they all looked at us with a smile.

"Come here.. sit here." Grandma took my hand and she pointed me to sit beside her. I sat down and looked at all the food in the table.

"What do you like to eat for breakfast?"

"I never eat breakfast."

"She always skips it. She hates it because it will make her gain weight." Clyde said and I nodded lightly even though that's not the real reason.

"If you eat healthy, you won't gain weight."

"Okay, Mrs. Dan- I mean grandma." I smiled. She started to scoop me a big pile of salad and gave me a lot of eggs.

"Thankyou, this is too much.. I will gain weight later on." I stopped grandma from giving me more and more. The truth is that.. I always want to eat breakfast but I've been busy and since I was a kid.. I always skip it because my parents never cared about me.

I looked at the food blankly and suddenly Clyde held my hand.

"Honey.. Eat.. it's good for you." Clyde said as he squeezed my hand. I nodded lightly. I began to eat the salad first and it's so good. I kept eating and eating it until I'm finish with my food. I looked the other food again and Clyde stopped me.

"Honey.. you will gain weight." He said and I turned to him. I nodded lightly.

"Nonsense! If she wants to eat, let her eat!" Grandma said and I turned to her smiling.

"No.. I'm okay grandma." I said and she looked at me worried. I pushed away Clyde's hand and drank a lot of water. I looked at Clyde's parents and grandma who kept talking about things, sometimes they asked Clyde and me about the topic but I pretended to be bored.

I excused myself to go outside the house and I walked to the garden. I looked around and it's really beautiful. They have various plants here.

"You did good." Clyde said as he stood beside me. I linked my arm around him and leaned my head to his arm.

"We have to stay here for 1 year?"

"Yeah. Why?"

"Nothing." I said as I caressed his arm.

"You're a really good actress, no wonder people paid you big." He said.

"I never thought you're an architect."

"You should have told me that you're an architect, I can tell them that you and I work together."

"They will hate me more if I'm jobless and how I love your money the most." I answered and I glanced to the back. I found they're all looking at us. I slipped my arms around his hip and hugged him. Clyde's body tense right away because he wasn't expecting that.

"Your family's watching." I looked up to him.

"You're a really bad actor." I said and he looked down to me smiling.

"You need to improve that if you want them to believe our relationship." I said and then I kissed his cheek. I released the hug and walked back inside.

"You and Clyde are so sweet!" Grandma said as she held my hand. I smiled a little and then I excused myself to go upstairs to have take a shower.

I regret signing the contract..
