Chapter 1

In the early morning, I woke up choking on smoke.

While I was fleeing, I encountered the poor mother and child downstairs.

Amidst the raging fire, I rescued the child who had fallen without concern for my safety.

Not only did that woman not thank me, she pushed me away.

My husband rushed over but ignored me and went directly towards the mother and child.

Trapped under the collapsing security door, I heard the child call his father in the thick smoke and flames.

After being reborn, I finally escaped them.

Their family of three would get their punishment.

When woken up again by the smoke, I realized I was reborn.

The fire had already spread to the downstairs. Single mother Olive was escaping through this passage with her child, just like the scene in my previous life.

A familiar cry came into my ears.

I quickly soaked a towel, ignoring the cries that once softened my heart. I covered my mouth and nose and ran to the escape passage opposite.

It was a completely different escape route.

Using the light from my cell phone, I made my way down.

It was not that I didn't help, but the price of being a good person was too high.

In my previous life, I followed the crying and instinctively rescued the child in a raging fire.

After Olive got up and took Victor, she pushed me into the fire instead of being grateful.

In desperation, my husband Calvin rushed over.

He was like a ray of light that illuminated my life.

However, he rushed directly toward the mother and son without looking at me.

Before I could get up, my legs were crushed by the collapsed security door.

I saw him quickly pick up Victor, hold Olive's shoulders, and rush out of the fire together.

Before being consumed by the flames, I heard Victor call my husband "Dad".

I was shocked on the spot.

The raging fire covered my screams.

Until I died, Calvin never looked back at me.

The trauma of being burned to death in my previous life still lingered, mixed with the smell of burning flesh, constantly stimulating my brain nerves.

If I had known the single mother and child downstairs were Calvin's lover and child, I would never have helped them escape.

I was so stupid.

I wanted to see who would save them without me in this life.

The further I went down, the further Victor's crying and Olive's cries for help became from me.

I endured the discomfort in my abdomen and my heart was pounding like thunder.

As I rushed out of the building to safety, my heart beat so fast.

I escaped safely.

The fierce fire continued to spread upwards accompanied by thick smoke, and the crackling sound and the beeping of the alarm were frightening.

Neighbors gathered around, asking if I was okay, and I thanked them.

Suddenly, someone rudely pushed the crowd aside and grabbed my arm forcefully.

It was my husband Calvin.

With scarlet eyes and a fierce look, he asked, "Where's Victor? Where's Olive? How come you escaped alone?"

I feigned fear and surprise, saying, "Victor? Olive? I didn't see them."

Calvin's grip on my arm tightened as he asked viciously, "Didn't you run into them when you went downstairs?"

I shook my head blankly, "I didn't run into anyone."

Calvin said, "How is that possible?"

His grips were so strong that I couldn't help but cry out in pain, "You're hurting me! I didn't see anyone. I thought I was the only one left in this building."

"Could it be that they were so soundly asleep that they didn't notice the fire?" I tested him friendly.

Calvin subconsciously denied, "Impossible, I just..."

Realizing that something was wrong, he changed his words, "I just saw that the lights in their house were on."

It turned out that before I went to help Olive and her son, the phone call she hurriedly hung up was from Calvin.

I vaguely heard her say, "Someone's coming. I know what to do!"

In my previous life, the situation was critical and I didn't think much about it.

The person she was talking about might be me.

She was planning to push me into the fire!

Chapter 2

As the fire grew more fierce, the cries for help from within the fire became too weak to be heard clearly.

Calvin let go of my arm and, eager to save people, he rushed into the fire.

I wouldn't let him have his way.

I purposely stifled a grunt and grabbed his hand, "Calvin, where are you going? My stomach hurts so badly."

Calvin was anxious, "Wendy, there are still people trapped inside, I'm going to save them!"

I gripped his hand hard, worried, "The firefighters are already on their way. You're not a professional. Are you going to rush in and get yourself killed?"

The people who escaped from the fire became more anxious than each other as they watched the fire, but no one dared to rush in.

No one was stupid enough to sacrifice themselves to save a stranger.

Calvin was different.

He was desperate to rescue his lover and illegitimate son.

He said, "Wendy, if I go in there any later, they could die."

I refused to let him go, saying, "If anything happens to you, how will our child and I survive?"

I touched my belly and burst into tears.

The neighbors also cautioned him against taking risks with the fire.

I knew Calvin was on the verge of a rage.

As long as Olive and her son didn't come out, he would not give up on saving them.

I would let him in later. The longer I delay, the more likely the two would be burned to death.

I wanted them to experience the feeling of being burned to death.

Even if they didn't die, they must suffer pain.

Calvin was furious and slapped me.

A male neighbor defended me and asked, "Your wife worries about you. Why are you hitting her?"

The neighbors were shocked, their eyes filled with disapproval.

Calvin shouted, "What the hell is it to you? You are so protective of my wife, are you having an affair with her?"

He began to speak out of turn.

The neighbor didn't take kindly to the insult and pushed him, retorting, "Your wife just escaped, but you ignored her and started asking about another woman and her child. Could she be your mistress?"

Calvin was so angry after being exposed that he turned to scold me, "Wendy, do you have any humanity at all? Can't you hear someone shouting for help? It's none of your business if I go to save someone."

After saying that, he pushed me away.

He pushed me with all his strength, and when I fell to the ground, I was choking in pain.

I knew I had to let him go.

Calvin ignored me who fell on the ground and fought his way into the fire.

According to the time, the security door was about to collapse.

I sat on the ground and counted the seconds with a worried and scared look.

Three minutes later, a loud boom echoed through the air, and the security door collapsed.

The sound of screams filled my ears, but I felt a twisted sense of satisfaction.

I saw the flames all over the sky and felt extreme excitement.

My abdominal pain didn't affect the joy in my heart.

It was nothing compared to the pain of being burned alive.

Not long after Calvin went in, the firefighters arrived.

The fire on the first floor was gradually extinguished and thick smoke billowed.

Several neighbors were successfully rescued, but that three people had not yet come out.

Soon, the abdominal pain came again, and a warm current flowed from under my body.

When the firefighters carried three unconscious people out, I screamed with all my might, pointing at the fire, "Calvin!"

But I couldn't stand up anymore.

My neighbor noticed my distress, saw the blood on my pajama pants, and panicked, calling for help, "She's bleeding."

The bright red blood in the darkness was like a gorgeous flower of life.

As I lay on the stretcher, I couldn't hold back the pain and fainted.

Chapter 3

My throat felt dry and painful when I woke up.

My hand instinctively went to my abdomen, which was now flat and empty. My child was gone.

My mom handed me a glass of water, her eyes red and tears brimming.

I drank it in one gulp and asked her, "Mom, where's Calvin?"

My mother's face was filled with anger, tears welled up in her eyes, "Wendy..."

She handed me the miscarriage report, saying, "You were bleeding too much when you came into the hospital. The baby is gone."

Her expression was a mixture of grief and fury.

I took the report and smiled bitterly, tears falling involuntarily.

I felt a deep connection to the child I had carried for five months. Before I died in my previous life, I could feel his struggle for life in my belly.

I was burned to death, so how could he survive?

Now, I had survived, but he died by his father's push.

It was unfortunate for him to have such a father.

Calvin had already made his choice between my baby and Victor.

My child, your father didn't deserve us.

My mother tried to comfort me, "Wendy, don't be sad. You and Calvin are young. You can have another child. Your health is the most important!"

My mother didn't know the truth and just hugged me and cried.

I asked, "Mom, where's Calvin? Is he..."

Did he die?

My mother hesitated before speaking, "Don't be mad."

Mad?

He had survived.

My mother continued, "Calvin is fine, he's just mildly burned. He rescued a mother and child."

It really made me angry that they didn't die.

It was as if fate was leaving them for me to deal with.

But my mother didn't know about it.

She held her phone tightly and didn't dare to look at me.

"Mom, are you hiding something from me?" I asked.

She shook her head frantically.

Just then, a video from the next bed patient's cell phone started playing.

My mother looked up and shouted, "Your phone is too loud. You're disturbing my daughter!"

The patient deliberately turned up the volume and sneered, "You deserved to have a miscarriage. It's your retribution."

My mom was afraid to tell me about the cyberbullying.

Knowing she couldn't hide it anymore, she handed me her phone.

The video showed a doctored conversation between Calvin and me. Calvin was mosaiced while my face was still clear.

I became a vicious woman who cheated on my husband and stopped him from heroically rescuing people.

The comments were scathing, and netizens were rallying against me.

The account that posted the video was a new account with no information available.

It must had been those two guys!

My mom asked if I had offended someone, but I didn't tell her the truth about my previous life.

I said, "Mom, I want to divorce Calvin. He pushed me to have a miscarriage, and he might abuse me and my child for sure."

My mother was furious, "How dare he? How could he hurt you and the baby to save someone else?"

I remained indifferent.

That patient didn't know the truth, but he continued to scold me, "You cheated on your husband. If your husband doesn't beat you, who will? Do you want to give birth to someone else's child?"

I seethed with anger.

I thought, "Is Calvin trying to use the public opinion stand to create trouble for me?"

Seeing that my mother was about to fight with the patient, I stopped her.

After sending my mother away, I walked to the burn department alone and happened to run into Olive nestling in Calvin's arms, crying.

I found a good angle, pushed open the door, and shouted, "What are you doing?"
