Chapter 2
Knowing that my right-hand nerves were damaged and I could no longer hold a camera, William called me the next second.
He angrily scolded me, "Annie Taylor, even if you lie, there should be a limit, right? How could you deceive me? You made me go and ask Sally, making her cry for an hour!"
Seeing that I didn't say anything, he grew even angrier. "I don't care. It's your fault for defaming Sally. Come and apologize to her!"
I sneered, "Apologize? Then what about my hand being disabled? Who will apologize to me?"
"How can you be so dramatic? Your hand was just slightly injured by a stone. How could it be disabled?"
"Think whatever you want."
I hung up the phone.
Soon after, William bombarded me with texts.
I found it annoying, so I put my phone on silent.
I didn't block him as it was the last bit of dignity I left for this relationship.
My hand was injured and I couldn't hold a camera or become a journalist, so I had to find another way out.
I called my college friend.
"Henry, do you still need people for the screenwriting project you mentioned last time?"
When Henry Jackson heard that I finally changed my mind and agreed to participate in their project, he was overjoyed and promptly arranged for an assistant to talk to me.
After being with William, I voluntarily gave up a lot of things.
To be closer to him, I applied for a job as a journalist in a different field.
But in reality, my major was screenwriting, and I won awards for many projects I did with Henry and the others in college.
"Then let's have a pleasant cooperation."
I wasted 15 years of my youth for William.
Now, I wanted to reclaim all that time.
Chapter 3
I spent another half a month in the hospital.
During this period, William never appeared.
He just sent me a good morning message at a fixed time every day.
He never used to message me, even when I shared my daily life with him.
Does he think he is making peace by doing this?
What a joke! He can't even be bothered to type a few extra words.
Who would believe his sincerity in seeking peace?
On the day of my discharge, he called me for the first time.
"Where are you now? There's a new Japanese restaurant that's really good. You'll definitely like it. I'll come pick you up."
In the past, I would have eagerly agreed.
And then I would have awaited his arrival with joy.
Now that I thought about it, it was just ridiculous.
But considering that my hand was injured and it was inconvenient for me to drive, I replied to him, "Still at the hospital."
He said, "See you in 15 minutes."
I hadn't gotten used to writing with my left hand yet. After completing the discharge procedures, I checked the time and found it was already half an hour later.
I packed my things and went out to take a taxi.
I heard the sound of a message notification.
It was sent by Sally.
[William is nice, and his figure is even better. He just helped me move and is taking a shower at my place. Annie, do you mind?]
It also came with a picture.
The hazy frosted glass reflected William's figure.
The last trace of hope lingering in my heart was completely extinguished the moment I saw the picture.
I replied to Sally, [We haven't even divorced yet, and you're already enjoying being the other woman?]
I took a taxi but didn't go back to the house of me and William.
Instead, I went to the apartment I bought before getting married.
Chapter 4
To complete the project, I stayed in the apartment and rarely went out.
My mom sent me a message advising me to reconcile with William, but I didn't reply.
I didn't answer William's phone call, either.
Love is the greatest driving force for a person to move forward.
My creative state quickly recovered. I immersed myself completely in the process of writing the script. I didn't even know when William opened the door and came in.
"What are you doing? You don't answer the phone or reply to my messages."
"I'm working. I was too focused and forgot to reply."
That was the excuse he used countless times to deceive me, and now I was returning it to him as it was.
Suddenly, he thought of something and a hint of guilt flashed in his eyes.
"Are you blaming me and Sally for what happened? I know about your hand being disabled, but it was an accident. Back then, you didn't shout, so I thought you were just being pressed down."
I couldn't help but laugh. Didn't I shout at him at that time?
There were so many search and rescue team members at the scene, but I only had him in my eyes. I desperately shouted at him.
But he completely ignored me and only cared about his childhood sweetheart.
Later, there was even a huge rock that almost hit my head.
If a rescue team member hadn't pulled me out just in time, I guessed I would have been killed on the spot.
"I understand, so please leave my house."
"This is my house too."
I retorted without any hesitation, "This is my premarital property. Please leave now!"
He looked incredulous and said, "You want me to leave?"
He used to ask me to get lost countless times.
As long as I made him a little unhappy, he would go crazy and yell at me to get out.
"Don't be so narrow-minded, okay? I didn't go to the hospital to pick you up that day because Sally was kicked out by her landlord. I couldn't just leave her on the streets without helping."
"Yeah, so you must help her. After all, she grew up with you."
He complained, "Can you stop being so sarcastic?"
"Me? Isn't this what you said before?"
He paused, seemingly surprised that I remained calm.
He thought I would throw a tantrum like before, trying every means to prove my importance in his heart.
"All right, I came to see you today, not to argue. You've always wanted a wedding, right? Let's go try on wedding dresses tomorrow."
We'd been married for three years, but we hadn't had a wedding because he feared Sally would be unhappy.
That was my biggest regret.
I mentioned it a few times before, but he thought I was being unreasonable.
"We're already married. Why do we need to have a wedding now?"
William was not someone who would care about those details. He did not bring it up out of guilt.
Since those two people were insatiable, I would do as they wished.
