Chapter 1

On the day when my wife and her first love reunited, I died.

On the tenth day after my death, she was going to have a grand wedding ceremony with her first love.

She said in Instagram that this wedding was the fulfillment she had been waiting for ten years.

But the day before the wedding, she held my tombstone and stood in the rain all night.

——

It was almost midnight, and Clara hadn't come home yet.

I sat by the French window, watching the neon lights flickering outside.

The phone was placed by my feet. Its screen was on, and the chat box was full of the messages I had sent.

I thought that she probably wouldn't come back today.

Click.

I turned my head and saw Clara at the entrance. My eyes suddenly lit up.

She staggered towards me with a strong smell of alcohol.

I hurriedly went up to support her, but she impatiently waved me away.

I stumbled and fell to the ground.

She saw my embarrassment and sneered, "Anson, why are you pretending here? You're an adult. Why are you so weak?"

Yes, why am I so weak?

Because I'm dying, Clara.

After slowly getting up, I looked at her and asked, "Clara, do you remember what day it is today?"

Clara laughed and tilted her head back.

Then, she stared at me with her red eyes.

"Don't you know, Anson? Five years ago today, your family killed Steve. How could you forget?

"Have you been sleeping well in the past five years, Anson? Are you at peace?"

Because she was too excited, Clara almost fell down. I instinctively wanted to help her, but she kept stepping back several steps.

"Don't touch me. You're dirty."

My heart was in agony.

Since last year, after Clara found out that her first love, Steve Watts's death was related to my family, she hadn't smiled at me for a single day.

I remained silent for a while, then I looked up at her seriously, "What if I told you that Steve didn't die?"

She looked at me incredulously and instantly woke up. She grabbed my shoulders and shook me desperately, "What do you mean? Explain it to me!"

I felt dizzy, forcefully suppressing the urge to vomit. Facing her eager gaze, I told her that Steve was alive and currently abroad.

After hearing this, she pushed me away forcefully, called her assistant to book the closest flight, and hurriedly prepared to leave.

In the moment before she left, I stopped her.

"Clara, today is my birthday."

She paused.

I had a glimmer of hope again.

But without turning her head, she said, "Anson, you'd better not have lied to me about Steve's matter, otherwise, I'll make you regret it!"

The sound of the door slamming shattered my hope and blocked my view of her.

Perhaps this was the last time I would see her.

Chapter 2

The next day, I went to the hospital under the Chambers family.

When I arrived, Callan was already in the VIP ward prepared for me.

"Are you happy to see that woman for the last time?" Callan's expression was cold and indifferent.

"I told her the news that Steve didn't die." I said.

Callan seemed not surprised.

"You didn't tell her the whole truth?"

"No." I sat on the bed and looked out the window quietly. "I hope someone can accompany her for me after I die. At least she loves Steve.

"Callan, ask the lawyer to help me draft a divorce agreement and send it to her."

"Do you really want to help them?" Callan was frustrated.

I didn't comment.

The legal team responded quickly and soon drafted the agreement. I forwarded it to Clara.

Unexpectedly, Clara called me immediately.

Looking at the screen, I was stunned. I hadn't received a call from Clara for long time.

I pressed the answer key. Her voice came from the phone, with a cold tone and a hint of imperceptible impatience.

"Anson, what do you mean? Do you want to divorce me?"

"Yes, I'm tired."

There was silence on the other end of the phone, only the sound of breathing remained.

After a while, I heard someone calling her. I recognized that it was Steve's voice.

Clara said hurriedly, "Let's talk when I come back." and hung up.

It seemed that they have already met.

After hanging up the phone, I saw Clara's latest post on Instagram, and I couldn't help but click on it.

[Crossing the long river of time, we finally meet again.] A picture of the shadows of the two people was attached.

I suddenly felt an extreme pain in my heart.

The alarm was beeping, and I saw doctors and nurses rushing in, I saw Callan rushing into the ward, and I saw the light above my head becoming more and more blurred.

I died, and Clara was free.

In the next moment, my world became clear again.

My soul came to Clara's side.

Chapter 3

Clara was still abroad, together with Steve.

Although I already knew from Instagram that they had met, I still felt hurt when seeing it for real.

Fortunately, I was already dead and wouldn't die again.

They were having dinner at a restaurant by the seaside.

It seemed like a romantic vacation destination here. Most customers were couples.

Steve gazed tenderly at Clara.

"Steve, why are you looking at me?"

Clara seemed a bit shy as she spoke, with a hint of coquetry in her tone.

I used to watch her like this.

But one time she got really angry and swept the food I made for her off the floor.

She told me not to look at her like that anymore.

It turned out that my gaze reminded her of Steve.

The violinist in the restaurant probably saw their ambiguous atmosphere and came over.

"Sir, would you like to choose a song for your wife?"

Clara looked a bit awkward and wanted to explain.

But Steve was faster and chose a song, saying it was for his beloved.

Their ambiguous gazes intertwined and Clara agreed.

As the melodious sound of the violin played, the dishes were also served.

I saw minced celery in the dish. Clara was allergic to it.

I waved my hands trying to stop Clara from eating this dish, but now I was just a soul, and no one could see me.

I watched helplessly as Clara took a bite of the food containing minced celery.

Soon, allergy symptoms appeared and Clara couldn't breathe.

An ambulance rushed in the chaos.
