Chapter 2
I don't know what Mom said to Zella, but they happily returned to the study.
Under mom's eye gesture, my sister held her head high and walked next to me defiantly, not even bothering to look at me.
"Well, congratulations! You did well on this exam. Mom just asked me to accompany you to buy college supplies."
Ever since I was a little girl, my sister had been particularly hard on me.
She always felt that I was the one who snatched away what should have belonged to her. Even though my parents had been strict enough with me, she still seemed to think it was not enough and always found various reasons to make things difficult for me.
Looking at Zella's disdainful expression, I shrugged my shoulders.
"It doesn't matter. I don't really need anything special."
"Whatever."
Zella rolled her eyes and walked out angrily.
Seeing Zella angry, Mom hurriedly chased after her to coax her, while Dad sat in the room with a frown.
"Chloe, how do you talk to your sister? I've told you so many times. Why are you so disobedient?"
I turned my head helplessly, not wanting to look at him, but he became even angrier.
"Don't think you can be complacent just because you got good grades on one test. You should learn more from your sister. She took the initiative to buy things for you. How can you be so ungrateful?"
Seeing that he seemed unwilling to stop talking, I turned my head and pretended to apologize.
"Okay, Dad, I understand."
And at that moment, Zella's angry roar also came from outside the living room.
"I don't care. She doesn't deserve to go to college. If you want to take her shopping, then I won't go. Depend on yourself!"
The familiar sound of a slamming door rang out just as the words fell.
Mom walked in with a frown on her face, completely devoid of the previous gentleness and patience.
Looking at their completely different attitudes towards me and Zella, I never knew why in my past life, and I always felt that I didn't do well enough to make my parents angry.
But when my soul floated back home, I knew that once a pastor had told them that they would only have one daughter, and that daughter would be their pride and reliance for a lifetime.
So when after finding out that they were pregnant with twins, they blamed me for everything.
From childhood to adulthood, as long as it was something Zella wanted, regardless of whether I wanted it or not, they would mercilessly take away my things and give them to Zella.
Even in my previous life, when I ran out the door in a hurry, they were already planning how I should serve my sister in the future.
When Mom walked past me, she impatiently pushed me.
"What are you standing here for? None of you make me worry-free."
While speaking, she pulled Dad out again and walked to the kitchen.
The two of them whispered in the kitchen, and my father's eyes occasionally glanced in my direction. I sighed helplessly. Sure enough, what should come would come.
However, unlike the previous life, because my sister got angry, my parents took her out to buy things in the afternoon, leaving me alone at home.
I was very happy about this result, after all, it also gave me time to prepare.
Mom and Dad didn't come back home until late.
I was quietly reading in my room when they entered with shopping bags.
Dad called me loudly and said that he bought my favorite cake for me.
I looked at the clock on the table and it was already half past ten in the evening.
Before I could go out, Mom impatiently walked into the room.
"Do you have long ears for air? Didn't you hear me calling you? How did I raise such an ungrateful person like you?"
Chapter 3
Mom said as she dragged me out into the living room.
Dad solemnly opened the package and took out the cake towards me.
"It's your favorite chocolate cake. Today we celebrate your SAT results. Come and eat. It has ice cream filling inside. It won't taste good if it melts."
I looked at my sister who was gloating on the side and said expressionlessly, "Zella likes chocolate, but I like strawberry."
As soon as I finished speaking, my sister burst into laughter. It was a little awkward when Dad gave her a spoiled glare.
Mom intervened, "Chloe, haven't you eaten yet? Mom also packed crayfish for you."
I picked up my phone and showed them the time, "No need. I already cooked instant noodles for myself."
My sister added fuel to the fire, "How can she appreciate the leftovers you brought back when she did so well in the exam? Why do you have to flatter her? I haven't eaten enough at the restaurant just now."
Saying that, she walked to the dining table with the crayfish and started eating by herself.
Mom opened her mouth as if she was going to say something else to me, but I ignored her and went straight back to my room.
Behind me, Zella was eating crayfish and shouting to our parents, "Mom and Dad, please hang my clothes in the wardrobe, otherwise they will get wrinkled later."
I turned around and saw my mother standing next to Zella, saying something. Judging from her lip movements, she probably told Zella not to provoke me.
Soon the offer letter came and my parents offered to buy me a plane ticket.
"No need, I have already bought the train ticket."
I said lightly, but my parents suddenly became anxious.
"Where did you get the money? Did you do something bad?"
I gave them a cold look and said, "That's my pocket money that I saved for a long time. Should you call spending my own money to buy my own ticket doing something bad?"
Mom and Dad were dumbfounded and stammered, wanting to say something else but I interrupted them.
"Thank you, Mom and Dad, but I will handle my own affairs. I won't bother you."
Dad seemed persistent, "Flying on a plane is comfortable. You've never been on a plane before, so why not..."
I shook my head firmly. My dad still wanted to continue, but was stopped by my mom.
My mom smiled awkwardly, "Since Chloe has already bought it, let's forget about it."
With that, she looked at me again, "Chloe, do you have any gifts you want? Your dad and I will buy them for you."
Looking at their eyes, even though I had already prepared for it, I still couldn't help but feel sad.
I could only enjoy the kindness of my parents when they were planning to harm me. If I had a choice, I would rather not be their daughter.
My sister couldn't bear to watch anymore and slapped the table, saying, "What's so great about getting into a university? Why are you so proud? When the time comes, I'll go..."
Before she could finish her sentence, my mom covered her mouth.
Looking at my parents' panicked expressions, I smiled helplessly.
In my previous life, ever since the SAT results came out, my parents and sister treated me completely differently, caring about me in every way.
At that time, I naively thought that it was really because I had gotten good grades that they thought I was outstanding and treated me well.
Who would have thought that the goodness from my parents would turn out to be a deadly poison?
While she was happily chatting with my classmates at school using my name, I was sitting in the car, impatiently looking at the navigation on my phone over and over again.
Until the moment of the unexpected car accident, I thought it was because of my carelessness that I missed the registration time.
That was why I had that obsession the moment I saw my sister replace me at school.
In this life, because of my cold attitude, my sister was exposed much earlier.
She had always had a grudge against me since we were young, not to mention how arrogant she became when my SAT scores were about to become hers.
A few days after I received the offer, my parents also enrolled my sister in this year's SAT class.
But she had no intention of studying for the exam at all, and instead wanted to go on a graduation trip.
When relatives came to praise my grades, she remained silent and her eyes filled with calculation and satisfaction.
Soon the time came the day before enrollment.
