Chapter 3
For this reason, the next day I went to school to find Leo and wanted to ask him for the contact information of the buyer.
I learned from my mother that Leo taught math at our high school.
When I arrived, the students had not finished school yet. Suddenly, I saw a familiar scene.
I remembered the time when I chased Leo and secretly tugged at his school uniform from behind.
His disdainful expression and loving eyes came into my mind.
Thinking about this, I felt a little ashamed.
At that time, I was really bold and told him I liked him.
"Miss, Mr. Johnson needs you to wait for him in his office!"
The words reached my ears, and I looked at the security guard in confusion. How did Leo know that I would come to him?
"Are you sure it's me?" I asked in disbelief.
"Yeah, it's you. Mr. Johnson showed me your photo from several years ago, but you haven't changed much. I can recognize you."
A photo?
When Leo and I broke up, he deleted all the photos in front of me. Where did that photo come from?
This question haunted me all the way.
I arrived at Leo's office and could imagine him correcting homework here.
"Come in. Have a seat!"
A cold voice came.
I turned around and saw Leo in a white shirt and black pants.
The setting sun shone on him, and his features were just like when he was young.
"I..." I stammered.
"What do you want to see me for?"
How did you know I'd come to you today?
Why do you still have my photo?
The questions were on the tip of my tongue, but I met Leo's gaze and swallowed them.
I broke up with him back then and had no reason to ask.
I had to talk about business first.
"Can you please give me the buyer's contact information?"
"Your mom has the contact information. The house has already been sold. Didn't she tell you?"
Leo said absentmindedly, holding a cup of coffee in his slender hand. His nose was particularly straight.
I shook my head, asking in disbelief, "What? My mom didn't tell me."
...
"She should tell you tonight. We are going to be a family, Millie."
As he said that, he stood in front of me against the light, extending his slender hand to me.
I spotted a playful look in his eyes and hesitated for a moment over whether to shake hands with Leo or not.
"What's wrong, sweetie? Don't you like me being your brother?"
Leo raised an eyebrow, and under pressure, I reached out and held his fingertips.
In just two seconds, many memories flooded my mind.
Leo's tearful eyes. The irony in my voice.
I blurted out, "I'm sorry!"
"What?"
"Four years ago, I broke up with you, and there was a reason."
But now, it seemed pointless to say all this.
It was all in the past, and Leo was now my brother.
"Oh, no need to say it. I don't care anymore!"
When I walked out of the office, I felt particularly heavy-hearted.
When I went back home at night, I didn't have time to ask my mom why she sold the house.
My phone suddenly rang, and a text message with a transfer of 33,000 dollars popped up.
The sender was my mom. If it were any other time, I would definitely jump up excitedly.
But today, I didn't because this was the money from selling the house!
Chapter 4
"Sweetie, you received the money. Are you excited?"
My mom walked in with a big smile, asking me excitedly.
Boohoo. I'm neither excited nor happy. I want the house, not the money.
"Mom, I don't want this money. Please return it to the buyer. I want the house."
My mother looked at the place where we lived and shook her head disapprovingly.
"What's so good about this house? It's old and run-down! Samuel has already prepared a room for you, and it's decorated in yellow, your favorite color! Home is wherever you and I are! It's not safe to keep over 160,000 dollars in cash in this house. Stop overthinking it. Samuel will come to pick me up tomorrow."
In the end, my mother still took me to Samuel's house.
Whenever I said I didn't want to live with Samuel, my mother would keep nagging.
I had to compromise.
Luckily, the vacation would end in less than a month.
...
Early the next morning.
The moving men, Samuel, and Leo were all here. My mother dragged me to Samuel's house.
My mother was right. The room was indeed decorated in the style I liked. It was all yellow, and even the furniture was arranged exactly as I imagined.
I secretly suspected that Leo made the arrangements.
I only told him about the details of my room.
Samuel and my mother made a table of dishes in the evening to celebrate their marriage.
In this atmosphere of reunion, we all drank a lot of alcohol.
I stumbled back to my room. I was about to close the door when I found a pair of hands on it.
Looking up, I saw Leo standing in front of me with a slightly flushed face.
"What's the matter?"
Before I could finish my words, the fresh smell of soap from Leo's body reached my nostrils and his strong hand was on my waist.
"Millie Torres, you really are a heartless person!"
After he finished speaking, his whole weight fell upon me.
If I hadn't held onto the wall in time, I would have been knocked down by Leo.
"Leo!"
I called him, but there was no response. I only felt my clavicle itch.
Finally, with great effort, I secretly dragged Leo back to his room.
I put him on the bed. Before I could withdraw my hand, he tightened his hold on my waist and I fell into his arms.
The atmosphere instantly became intimate.
For a moment, I felt like I couldn't breathe.
Leo's hand was still on my waist and his grip tightened!
"Leo, Leo."
I called him, and he responded very softly.
But his hand on my waist never let go and instead pinched it imperceptibly.
Finally, I broke free from Leo's clasp and escaped from here with great effort.
The next morning, when I was having breakfast in the restaurant, I didn't dare to look at Leo to avoid any awkwardness.
But it seemed that Leo didn't remember what happened last night at all. There was no sign of anything unusual.
I didn't relax until Leo went to school.
But it was true that what one feared would at last come.
I wanted to avoid Leo, but at noon my mom gave me a lunchbox.
She asked me to deliver the food to Leo, saying that he couldn't eat well at school.
"Mom, I don't want to go." I refused from the bottom of my heart.
"You have no choice. I have already told Leo that I will deliver lunch to Samuel at noon."
My mom thrust the lunchbox into my arms and left with another lunchbox.
Thinking about last night, I felt awkward.
