Chapter 1

My husband, Colton Stevens, was born poor. He worked hard and steadily all the way, was admitted to the best local university. After graduation, he became an executive of a company with an annual salary of several hundred thousand dollars.

He married me, the city girl. Externally, he seemed to have reached life's pinnacle.

But I didn't expect that he was still not satisfied.

On our seventh wedding anniversary, Colton cheated on me.

That day, I followed my routine, cooking his favorite dishes and eagerly awaiting his return home.

Colton and I was college alumni, progressing from campus romance to marriage. Our relationship had always been good.

Each anniversary, he would thoughtfully present me with gifts, such as flowers, necklaces, or bags.

Early in the morning, I received a 5,000 dollars transfer from Colton, which was not much for him, who was about to be promoted to director.

But I was in the sweetest time of marriage, and I would be happy even if Colton transferred 500 dollars to me.

It was almost dawn and Colton still hadn't returned.

The candles on the table went out.

My expectation gradually disappeared. I knew Colton was very busy. He was busy getting promoted to director, keeping him away for most of the month.

As his wife, I couldn't cause trouble to him.

Just then, my phone suddenly rang. A strange text message and video appeared on my phone. I opened it and took a look.

My heart raced as I watched it.

The man in the video was hugging the woman and making love with her.

I couldn't see the woman's face clearly, but the man's face was very familiar to me.

That was my husband.

The man who once swore that he would never betray me and would do good to me in his life, was now hugging another woman and doing this on our wedding anniversary.

My heart ached so much that the hand holding the phone tightened unconsciously.

Just then, the door opened.

Colton entered with a briefcase. His eyes flashing as he approached me with an apologetic expression, "Sophia, there's a sudden big order at work, so I have to work overtime. I'm sorry."

He then picked up a lighter, lit a candle, and handed it to me with a smile.

"Sophia, it's time to blow out the candles."

I looked at him talking nonsense in a serious manner.

I couldn't imagine this elegant and handsome man would cheat on me.

His good looks, polite demeanor, and considerate nature made him appear as a progressive individual in the eyes of others.

I blew out the candle reluctantly. As I approached Colton, I could smell the faint lemon scent on him, as if he had just taken a shower. The folds on his suit were ironed meticulously.

"Colton, I'm tired." I said.

Maybe it's because I just watched the video, Colton’s face made me feel extremely disgusted.

Colton looked nervous, “Sophia, I really didn't mean it. Once this project is completed, I can secure a promotion to director.”

Of course, I knew. Colton had persisted on this project for four years.

He had been working hard.

I just find this matter ridiculous.

Chapter 2

He was so tired, yet he still had the energy to have another woman!

I smiled at Colton, saying, "I'm just a little tired recently. You eat first and I'll clean up the dishes."

As usual, I maintained gentle.

Colton quickly dispelled his suspicions. In his opinion, I had always been gentle and kind. Missing an anniversary would never provoke my anger.

He only ate a few bites.

I learned to cook these dishes. When Colton was working in his early years, he often forgot to eat, which led to serious stomach problems.

His parents advised me to be a good wife and quit my job to stay at home, preparing for pregnancy and taking care of Colton.

I agreed.

My world revolved around him.

Seeing him unwilling to eat my cooking made me angry.

Didn't he aspire to be a director, to have power and influence?

Since he cheated on me, he must face the consequences.

Colton came into the room, and as usual, I prepared his bath and took the clothes he had changed.

There was tension in the air as he stared at me, finally breaking the silence, "Sophia, you are so nice to me. I don't know what I would do without you."

Once, those words would have moved me deeply, and would work harder and more seriously to take care of Colton.

But now I felt only a surge of pain in my heart.

"This is my duty."

I continued to act gentle and considerate.

Colton had praised me for being a devoted wife.

Wasn't he now lying in another woman's bed?

Colton's cell phone never appears in front of me. I knew that he always kept it tightly on his body for fear that I would see it.

I didn't pay much attention to these details, believing in his dedication to our marriage.

I fished out Colton's cell phone from his suit pocket, unlocked it skillfully, and looked for his chat history.

He was very cautious and cleared out all messages.

Until I opened his phone call log.

They were all leaders' phone numbers. At the bottom, I saw he called a number seven or eight times with another SIM card, which he barely used.

I sneered inwardly.

He was so careless.

I put his phone back into his pocket.

After Colton finished bathing, he began to look for something anxiously, until he found his mobile phone in his suit pocket, he breathed a sigh of relief.

He turned to look at me, and seeing that I looked easy-going and even put on a facial mask, the tension in his heart completely disappeared.

"Sophia, are you still upset about missing our anniversary?"

Colton walked closer to me and wanted to put his arms around my waist, but I subtly dodged him. Now, I felt extremely disgusted even breathing the same air with him.

I showed a distressed expression.

I replied, "You work so hard. I'm just concerned about you. Your health is much more important than our anniversary."

Chapter 3

Colton was slightly moved and seemed to want to compensate me. He transferred 50 thousand dollars to me from his mobile phone, instructing me to spend freely.

I wasn't naive, and neither was Colton.

Years ago, he linked all his cards to my phone because he knew I was hesitant to spend his money, yet he was willing to keep a mistress.

I accepted the money calmly and lay down on the same bed with Colton.

Colton didn't seem to want to touch me either. He always drifted off to sleep as soon as he lay down.

But then, I spoke up suddenly.

"Adaline's husband cheated on her. They recently got divorced."

Colton jerked awake, and looked at me nervously.

He reassured, "Sophia, I won't cheat on you, and we won't get divorced."

I smiled at him.

"Of course we won't get divorced, provided you don't cheat on me."

My words seemed to make him even more anxious.

"Adaline had been with her husband for seven years, taking good care of him meticulously. If I were Adaline, I wouldn't let go of the cheating man. I would make sure to spend his money, refuse to divorce him, and exhaust him until he regretted his actions."

"I would spend his money to have some fun with handsome young men."

Colton became nervous. He put his arm around my shoulders and whispered to me to comfort me.

"That's someone else's family matter. Let's not meddle, okay?"

"We'll continue living our lives, and I'll always love you."

Don't trust a man.

Would Colton speak these words of love in another woman's bed?

I didn't sleep that night. I thought about many things, including the things between Colton and me.

My mind drifted back to the first time I met him.

He was wearing a school uniform and glasses, sitting in the corner and speaking softly.

At that time, he was still a poor student in the class, surviving on a meager budget, and appearing frail. I couldn't resist helping him once, then twice, until we became acquainted.

Later when we got married, I sympathized his hard work and helped him with the down payment.

My parents were dissatisfied with him at first. They thought his family was humble and his parents were barbarians. They couldn't see his worth.

Now that I think about it, my parents had better vision than I did.

Colton left early in the morning.

He never stayed for breakfast, always citing a busy schedule or early morning meetings.

I wondered what company required a 6 a.m. meeting, but seeing Colton's earnest demeanor, I held back my questions.

Colton had been kind to me before our marriage. He put the house in my name, linked his bank cards to my phone, and even offered to enable location services for my peace of mind.

I was so moved and never used the location feature.

Colton was confident in my trust, believing I wouldn't doubt him.

But since that video, our trust had shattered.

I checked his location and found he wasn't at his company but in an upscale neighborhood nearby.

Mission Hills Bay.

I stared at the little red dot as it stopped in front of a building, feeling a sharp pain in my heart.

Seven years of marriage and three years of love had become a joke at this moment.

Even though I hated Colton for cheating on me, I still feel sad when I see the facts with my own eyes.

I dialed the number I had memorized the day before.

The phone rang three times before a woman's voice answered.

"Who is it?" She asked.

A man's voice urged her, "Lucia, come and have breakfast."

The two voices overlapped.

It was Colton's voice!

He was making breakfast for another woman!
