Chapter 3

Looking back to the first day I met Chloe, she was hostile to me.

I heard their conversation in a restaurant once: "Mr. Sterling, the company spent a lot of money to hire a housewife as a manager. If outsiders knew about this, wouldn't they laugh at us?"

Alexander said nothing, but smiled and indulged her.

Since then, she has disliked me in every way.

I was widely promoted at staff meetings and department dinners.

"Anyone can get into this company. If I had known what university to go to, I would have studied to become a cook."

There were rumors rife in the company, all saying that I was using backdoors and was unworthy of my position. Everyone was betting on when I would be kicked out of the company.

I have heard of it.

But I don't care.

My indifference resulted in Chloe becoming even more aggressive.

This time she has seized the opportunity to kill me.

I was not willing to be outdone.

He grabbed her wrist with his backhand and pushed her hard.

She hit her head on the table and fell heavily to the ground.

She ignored the pain and grabbed the broken diamond necklace on the ground.

Under the light, the diamond is even more dazzling, but there are obvious bumps and scratches on it.

“Vivian!”

Chloe yelled, her anger seemed to ignite her whole being.

"Do you know how much this necklace is worth!?"

"Mr. Sterling took this photo for me on my birthday. It's worth a million dollars!"

I combed my hair slowly and methodically.

Looking down at her.

"It's your own fault, it's just self-defense!"

Alexander finally couldn't stand it anymore and helped Chloe up with heartache.

"Vivian! You're going too far!"

"As an employee of the company, he ignored the rules and regulations and destroyed employee property."

"I am now officially notifying you in the name of the executive director that you are fired!"

"Now, get out of here immediately!"

I paused as I picked up the recipe.

This is the most Alexander has spoken to me since I joined the company.

I just didn't expect it to be under such circumstances.

Chloe hid in Alexander's arms and shouted: "Mr. Sterling, she broke the necklace you gave her, call the police to arrest her!"

The negotiation room was silent.

Everyone looked at me as if they were waiting for a good show.

"Okay, I'll pay for it."

"It's just one million dollars."

I took out my cell phone and made a call before I could even speak.

"One million US dollars was the price during the auction. Now it's at least 10 million US dollars!"

Everyone present gasped.

Ten million US dollars is not a small sum for them.

I looked at her and said, "Ten million US dollars? You're so brave to ask for that."

"You've never been to an auction in your life, right? Do you know that the items there are priceless?"

"I'm asking you to give me 10 million US dollars because we're colleagues."

"If I wasn't kindhearted, I would send you to jail, don't you think?"

Chloe was cocky.

She knew I couldn't afford the compensation with just the monthly salary.

He kept biting me and deliberately humiliating me.

Others present echoed the sentiment.

Planning Director: "Yes, this was given by Mr. Sterling. How can it be measured by money?"

Marketing Manager: "Chloe is not a philanthropist. Shouldn't she compensate me? Hahaha, but Ms. Wright will never be able to pay all the compensation even if she dies."

The financial director: "I'm afraid you can't even afford to pay for it even if you lose all your underwear!"

Everyone laughed continuously, their eyes filled with contempt and ridicule.

They have long been fed up with me doing nothing all day, so they decided to be on equal footing with me.

Seeing me in trouble, naturally they wanted to add insult to injury.

Alexander sat aside and watched coldly.

I asked Chloe: "10 million dollars, isn't that too much?"

Chapter 4

Chloe sneered: "How much do you earn a month? Why are you pretending to be rich?"

"If you can come up with 10 million US dollars, I won't pay for your medical expenses, and I can even run around the company naked!"

I curled my lips into a smile.

Look at the young man in the video call.

"Second brother, have someone send 10 million US dollars to my company immediately."

Chloe was stunned, then burst into laughter: "You are really addicted to pretending. Do you think you can just find a poor relative to pretend with you?"

I sat back down, crossed my legs and waited.

I waited for twenty minutes and no one came.

Chloe laughed, "That's enough. Vivian, when will the agent you found arrive? You're wasting everyone's negotiation time!"

"If it doesn't work, kowtow to me and apologize, and then I'll send you to the police station!"

She didn't finish her words.

The door of the negotiation room was opened.

A young man in a suit and tie was in the lead, followed by more than a dozen bodyguards carrying boxes.

The young man walked up to me and touched my head lovingly: "Little sister, second brother is late."

Alexander's eyes were fixed on the hand that was touching my hair.

The bodyguards received the signal and placed the boxes on the conference table.

When I opened it, it was full of green US dollars.

Everyone present felt as if their throats were blocked by the pile of money and they were unable to utter a word.

Chloe swallowed even more, she had never seen so much money.

Her eyes were full of disbelief as she shifted her gaze from the banknotes to the man's face.

At this point, the marketing manager's face turned pale.

"You are... You are the crown prince of Newcrest City the Grant dynasty!"

There are rumors.

You may not know the mayor of Newcrest City, but there's no way you don't know the Grant dynasty's crown prince, Theodore Grant, who runs a business empire.

The person who was not captured in the news reports now appeared before them alive.

Call me little sister affectionately.

Alexander stood up with doubt, raised his smile and stretched out his hand.

"Theodore, I've often heard my father praise you for your achievements at a young age. Nice to meet you."

My second brother didn't even look at me and asked someone to bring a chair and sit next to me.

Alexander's smile froze.

He withdrew his hand angrily.

Chloe, on the other hand, looked extremely pale, someone who even the usually respectful Alexander had to put on a smiling face.

She couldn't imagine what big shot she had offended.

I casually pulled out a stack of banknotes.

I fiddled with it casually.

"Chloe, ten million dollars."

"No order?"

I raised my hand and threw it at Chloe's face.

Banknotes fell all over the ground.

I took the opportunity to snatch the necklace from her hand.

"Now that I've given you the money, I should be the one to dispose of the necklace."

I shined the light through the diamond.

The second brother sighed and said, "This level of broken diamonds, if you use them to skip stones on water, you'd be worried about cutting your hands."

I smiled and said, "It's perfect for Buddy who's guarding the gate to grind his teeth."

"you!"

Chloe clenched her fists in humiliation.

My precious things are worthless in their mouths.

I looked at her and said, "I've already compensated you for the necklace, now you should compensate me for the recipe, right?"

Chloe looked at the incomplete recipe in my hand and acted like she was hearing a huge joke.

"How much is a crappy recipe worth?"

I held up two fingers: "It's really not worth much."

"The auction price is only 200 million US dollars."

The scene was quiet for a moment.

Thunderous laughter broke out immediately.

The planning director burst into laughter: "How dare you ask for 200 million US dollars for a few pieces of paper? What kind of daydreaming is this?"

The financial director mocked: "Are you crazy about money? The original compensation is not to make you rich overnight."

"It's still two hundred million dollars. Give me twenty dollars and I'll print a bunch for you."

Chapter 5

Chloe felt more confident when she saw everyone agreeing.

She crossed her arms proudly and pulled out two hundred dollars from the box: "Forget it, I'll be generous and give you two hundred dollars, and you can use the rest to check your brain."

Alexander looked at me coldly without saying anything.

I remained expressionless and let them sneer at me.

"A normal recipe might cost twenty bucks."

Chloe flipped her long hair.

"It's good that you know it. I'll give you two hundred dollars. I think highly of you."

"Unfortunately, this is not an ordinary recipe."

As soon as the words fell.

Someone else pushed the door open.

Leading the group was an elderly man in a suit and holding a cane, followed by several bodyguards.

Arthur Chamberlain is a world-class treasure appraiser. His family’s collection is rich enough to rival a country, and his network of connections is even more extensive!

Alexander quickly stood up and greeted him respectfully: "Master Chamberlain, what brings you here?"

Arthur ignored Alexander.

Leaning on his cane, he walked up to my second brother and me, and bent over: "Ms. Wright, I heard that Mr. Grant said that the recipe in your hand was damaged?"

I pushed the recipe in his face.

He was shocked. His trembling hands touched the ink-soaked paper, his face pale. "This is the manuscript of Queen Marie that leaked from the Palace of Versailles. It will cost 120 million US dollars to restore it!"

When these words were spoken, everyone was so surprised that their mouths were wide open.

Who would have thought that a small cookbook could be worth so much money.

Chloe was so frightened that her lips trembled. She pretended to be calm: "How...how is this possible? You must be kidding! They are just a few pieces of paper. How can they be so expensive?!"

Arthur gave her a cold look.

Ask someone to take the appraisal certificate out of the briefcase.

"This is the certificate issued by the National Heritage Vault for the special collection in Ms. Wright's hands. Do you need to take it to verify its authenticity?"

The appraisal letter was circulated among everyone in the negotiation room.

The room was completely silent.

The planning director was sweating profusely and didn't dare to wipe it off.

The marketing manager looked pale.

The financial director didn't even dare to say a word.

Chloe finally lost her confidence and slumped in the chair, her bangs wet with sweat.

The one who reacted the fastest was Alexander.

He looked at me with burning eyes: "Vivian, who are you!"

I ignored him and just looked at Chloe.

"Chloe, I compensated you for your necklace, how are you going to compensate me for my recipe?"

Chloe stood up in panic, looked at us and yelled, "You guys teamed up to cheat me. What recipe worth 200 million US dollars? Bullshit!"

She pointed at me and my second brother and said, "I don't know where the money you paid for the compensation came from. You must have gotten it by sleeping with this man!"

This successfully made my second brother, who was sitting next to me, change his expression, and his phone was almost deformed by him.

I looked at her with amusement.

I have taken my mother's surname since I was young and have been very well protected in the family. Few people know that I am the youngest daughter of the Grant family.

Chloe saw that I didn't deny it.

She immediately got excited and screamed, "No wonder you make money so quickly, Vivian, it turns out it's all dirty money! You two are a pair of bastards in cahoots!"

Alexander believed her and cast a probing and disgusted look at me.

The second brother waved his hand, and two bodyguards held Chloe on the left and right.

The second brother's unkind voice sounded: "You can't keep your mouth clean, then I can help you, beat you!"

"Beat him until his mouth is clean."

The sound of the bodyguard slapping people could be heard one after another.

Chloe screamed like a pig being slaughtered.

Everyone in the negotiation room felt insecure.

She shouted incoherently: "It's against the law for you to hit people!"
