Chapter 3
Matteo hugged her tightly. He was so panic that he didn't know what to do and his voice was trembling.
"Lenoir, wake up, don't scare me."
He picked her up and ran out.
The moment he reached the door, he paused and then he spoke words that were like an ice knife piercing my heart.
"Jeanette, if anything happens to my first love and my son, I'll make you pay with your life."
With a loud bang, he slammed open the door and ran out.
I walked back to the living room and sat down on the sofa, feeling disappointed.
The coldness and bitterness in my heart made my eyes well up with tears.
I opened a bottle of wine and drank it glass by glass, thinking about every little thing I had with Matteo.
In college, he was the most handsome boy and came from a wealthy family, while I was just an ordinary girl.
At the New Year's dance party, I stepped on my dance partner's feet six times and he threw me into the pool with a cold face.
Surrounded by pairs of partners, I blushed and lowered my head in embarrassment.
Matteo, the host, came over, took my hand with a smile and led me in a spin.
Looking into his smiling eyes, I relaxed and my body suddenly lightened up.
That day, I kept spinning and flying, receiving applause from the whole room.
That day, he leaned over and whispered in my ear.
"You're good, don't deny yourself just because you've met someone bad."
From that moment, Matteo shone into my heart like a ray of light.
Unfortunately, he already had a girlfriend at that time, Lenoir.
I could only silently and secretly love him, letting my longing grow like a vine in my heart.
Soon, the sound of the phone ringing woke me up from my reverie.
Matteo's soft voice sounded in my ears.
"Yesterday, I was a bit harsh and impatient to you, please don't take it to heart."
"Come to the hospital and apologize to Lenoir, so that she can take care of her pregnancy with peace of mind. Our wedding will still be held as usual. Don't make a joke out of such an important matter as our wedding just because you're angry."
I gave a bitter smile and realized that my face was tense and uncomfortable. As soon as I touched it, I realized that tears had already dried on my face.
For so many years, I loved him humbly, so I always followed his advice and followed his opinions.
But now, I wouldn't listen to him.
My love also had dignity, I wouldn't let others trample on it anymore.
I silently hung up the phone and started packing my things. There would be new people here in the future, so why should I keep old things around to cause trouble for them?
Seeing me hung up the phone without saying a single word, Matteo immediately sent me a few 60-second voice messages.
"Jeanette, you know better. As long as Lenoir gives birth to her son and gets the assets, won't we also benefit from it?"
"She has a husband, so she won't possibly marry me. She and I are just interested in each other. You're the future legitimate Ms. Owen, my future wife. Can't you think about it for the long term?"
"Can you bring me some daily necessities to the hospital? Lenoir is here alone and I'll take care of her."
Listening to his lowered voice, I chuckled at myself.
With them having a son, wouldn't they stay in touch? What did he want to do?
Be Lenoir's lover, then accompany her on Monday, Wednesday and Friday and go home on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday?
I looked at the big red wedding characters all over the wall, tore them off in anger and threw them into the trash can.
I didn't want a husband like him anymore.
Just as I was deleting Matteo's messages and planning to ignore him, my mother called me.
"Jeanette, I call you to ask how many desserts are you ordering for your wedding tomorrow? Matteo told me, he was taking care of a friend in the hospital and asked you to deliver something to him."
I quickly interrupted.
"Mom, I just ordered some desserts for our family. I'll deliver them later. No worry. Go to bed earlier tonight. We still have to meet our family and relatives tomorrow."
Chapter 4
My mother thought that marrying into the Owen Family was a high achievement. My mother was a university professor, my father was a middle-level civil servant. While Matteo was a young manager in the Urban Space, he was such a handsome, dashing and capable.
Now, if she knew Matteo and I had a falling out, she would probably not be able to sleep tonight and would force me to marry into the Owen Family tomorrow.
Thinking of this, I quickly packed up and delivered Matteo's necessity to the hospital.
As long as they saw Stanley York tomorrow, they would definitely be satisfied.
Pushing open the door, Lenoir was lying vainly on the hospital bed and Matteo was gently scooping fish soup to feed her.
"One more scoop, okay? The doctor said you're too weak."
I had never seen such a meticulous and patient appearance before.
He should have never forgotten Lenoir in his heart, which was why he showed his most tender side.
His hand gently wiped the corners of her mouth and then licked his fingers with his own mouth.
Lenoir smiled shyly and tapped his chest.
This affectionate scene made my eyes and my throat suddenly felt sore.
I put his things at the door and turned around to leave when Matteo saw me.
He stood up and grabbed me.
"Look at how uncomfortable she is now, please say something soft to ease her mood."
Looking at his expectant gaze, I suddenly didn't want to mistreat myself anymore.
"If you want to please your mistress, just kneel down and apologize to her yourself. Why do you have to drag me to please your mistress?"
He froze for a moment and his face instantly darkened.
"What mistress? Why are you talking so viciously now? I told you I was just helping her, why can't you understand?"
I sneered and pointed at him.
"Help her! Tell me how you help her? Are you on top and she's on the bottom, or do you pounce yourself at each other?"
"Matteo, you shameless, can you please stop treating others as fools?"
In just a second, a slap hit my face and my cheek started to swell and hurt.
A bloody smell filled my mouth.
The room turned silent. Matteo stared at me blankly, lowered his hands helplessly and said, "Jeanette, sorry, I just ... you were so harsh in your words."
He looked at my face, guilt flashing in his eyes.
"The wedding will be held tomorrow. I will apply medicine on you right away." Then he hurried out.
I stared at his back. Since he loved his ex-lover, why was he still thinking about me?
My tears dripped down my cheeks and my face felt hot.
Lenoir, who was now lying on the bed, looked at me with a sneer.
"Jeanette, you've been a licker for a few years and have a bad temper, but a licker is still a licker. If I want him to, he will kick you right away."
She lowered her voice. "Do you know how crazy he is in bed? He moaned excitedly. He said as long as he lives for one day, his life is mine. Not to mention having one child, he can have as many as he wants."
"He has promised me that he will never have a child with you, only ours is his child."
My mind buzzed. No wonder, a few days ago, he wanted to get married to me but not to have children until our career was stable.
My heart ached.
"Lenoir, is that how much you enjoy being a mistress?"
She rolled her eyes at me and said disdainfully, "Mistress? Jeanette, you don't really think you can marry Matteo, do you? He is mine. Even if I can't give him a legal status, I won't let him marry and touch a low-class woman like you. I find it disgusting."
I stared back at her in cold and sarcastic way and understood her wishful thinking.
She was alone and helpless in the Lynch Family. Matteo could not only give her a child, but also help her deal with those old guys.
Chapter 5
Not only did she raise a gigolo, she also found a loyal assistant.
As soon as she finished speaking, a strange smile suddenly appeared on her face.
"I'll never allow others to covet my bed."
The next second, she ruffled her hair, poured the remaining fish soup on her head and fell to the ground with a thud.
"Oh, help, don't hit my baby!"
I froze in place.
Before I could open my mouth, a strong force pushed me down from behind, causing my forehead to hit the bedside table with a bang and blood flowed down my forehead into my eyes.
Matteo's eyes were filled with rage.
"Jeanette, you dare to harm my son! I won't spare you!" he said as he picked her up from the ground.
"Lenoir, how are you? Where are you uncomfortable? I'll take you to the doctor right away."
He rushed out the door and his anxious voice echoed in the corridor.
"Doctor, come quickly, someone has fainted!"
I sat on the ground, half of my face was red and swollen and blood flowed into my neck through my tears.
When I watched drops of blood fall onto my arm, I laughed at myself once again.
Well, you're so stupid and pathetic, Jeanette.
Just as I struggled to stand up and prepared to leave, the door slammed open with a loud bang and Matteo anxiously pulled me over.
"Come with me quickly! Lenoir is anemic. You happen to have the same blood type as her. Give her a transfusion right away!"
Without giving me a chance to refute, he grabbed my hand and ran to the Intensive Care Unit or ICU room.
He then pressed me onto a chair as soon as we arrived at the ICU.
"Doctor, give the patient a blood transfusion immediately! She has the same blood type as the patient, so go ahead and draw her blood as much as you need!"
I struggled and questioned, "Matteo, with so much blood in the hospital, why are you using mine? How do you know that my blood type matches hers?"
He replied impatiently, "Of course I asked someone to do some tests. In case Lenoir needs blood for her labor, I have to prepare it in advance."
He quickly took out the laboratory test report.
"Doctor, look, we just ran the test a few days ago and it's more than 90 percent a match."
I looked at the man in astonishment as well as anger. He actually treated me as a backup blood bank of his first love. How much did he not care about me?
I raised my hand to hit him, but he grabbed my wrist.
"Jeanette, stop messing around! As long as you obediently give your blood for Lenoir, I'll forget about you hitting her today and we will continue to hold our wedding tomorrow."
He held my hand and said in a cold tone, "If you insist on messing around, I'll call your parents and ask them to come to the hospital and see what kind of shrewish behavior you have done. Let them go to the wedding tomorrow by themselves."
Looking into his cold eyes, I suddenly smiled.
God was afraid that I would be soft-hearted, so God gave me another lesson.
I opened Matteo's hand expressionlessly.
"Well, just draw as much as you want."
He instantly held me in his arms with a bright and joyful expression.
"Jeanette, I knew you would. You love me so much that you will definitely listen to me."
Tears slowly flowed down my face and bright red blood slowly flowed out of the syringe.
After getting three large bags, he still urged.
"Doctor, shouldn't we draw another bag? The pregnant woman's condition is unstable, so we should prepare in advance."
The doctor frowned and advised.
"Mr. Owen, even if you care deeply about the pregnant woman, you can't ignore this lady's health. 2000cc is already the limit."
Only then did Matteo nod in embarrassment.
The moment the syringe was pulled out, he took the plasma and rushed out, leaving only one sentence.
"You go home and get some rest first. I will be there on time for the wedding tomorrow."
