Chapter 2
With my mother's permission, Mila bought an early morning flight the next day to meet Luke in another city.
Everything was the same as it had been in my previous life.
After Mila got there, she kept sending us pictures in the chat group for four or five days in a row.
She showed off where Luke had taken her and what he had bought her.
Until the seventh day.
Just like in my previous life, Mila proudly and ostentatiously invited me and my mother to enjoy the money.
But to her surprise, I rejected her again and again.
Mila finally lost her cool. "Lainey, Luke says you don't want to come because you are still suspicious of him. I've already sent so much evidence. He's not a liar! Why don't you believe me?"
The more she said, the angrier she became. "I really don't understand. You are my sister! Why do you not give me your blessing? You always fight with me for everything and bully me!"
"Now, I finally meet someone I like. But you will not be satisfied until you break us up, right?"
Seeing that Mila was hysterical, I was particularly calm and even felt a surge of joy in my heart.
I knew the current situation too well.
Instead of Mila being mad at me for not being gracious, Luke was pressuring her to try and trick me into coming over like he had done in a previous life.
However, Mila foolishly wanted to prove that her feelings for Luke were true. The more reluctant I was, the more she was afraid that I would make things difficult for her.
However, when I heard what she said, I couldn't help but laugh sarcastically at her words. "Mila, what did I compete with you for? Food? Or dresses and toys?"
"Mom has given you what you want since you were a kid. Are you blaming her for being biased now?"
"Have you forgotten how nice Mom has been to you? Do you have a conscience?"
Mila's breath caught in her throat. She didn't expect that I was so manipulative and hypocritical.
She roared, "What nonsense are you talking about?"
Then she quickly brainwashed my mother. "Mom, don't listen to Lainey! And now the point is Luke!"
"You know how he's been treating me these past few days. Lainey has been suspecting him and has been treating us like this. I'm disappointed."
"Originally, I wanted to take you over to live a better life. In that case, just forget it. But I don't know if Luke will alienate me if he asks. At that time, we will..."
Mila's voice was full of grievance.
After saying that, she began to cry bitterly. "If that's the case, I'll just take it that I'm out of luck."
My mother heard Mila's sob and immediately comforted her.
Then she turned around and said to me angrily, "Lainey, you have such a rare opportunity to be invited by Mila to enjoy a good life, but you're very headstrong and uncooperative. You're such an ungrateful bitch!"
"Mila, don't cry. You have my back. I'll make her go with us and apologize to you and Luke!"
I clenched my fists tight and looked down to hide the coldness in my eyes.
Fortunately, I didn't care about them anymore.
No matter how much they hurt me, my heart didn't ache anymore.
I had to go anyway, but not with my mother.
After all, I had to get prepared before sending Mila to hell myself!
So three days later, I went alone to the appointed meeting place.
I saw Luke again.
He was still as modest and polite as before, talking and behaving like a rich and educated returnee.
If I hadn't been suspicious of online dating in my previous life, I might have been deceived.
During the meal, Luke seemed to have noticed my coldness and kept talking to me deliberately.
Mila was worried that I would ruin her possible marriage by not showing him respect, but at the same time, she was also afraid that she would have some other crisis if I got too close to him.
I saw the anxiety in Mila's eyes and felt very happy.
After dinner, we arrived at the parking lot.
Luke suddenly said with annoyance, "Oh, my phone is dead. My driver is not here, and I don't know the way around. Can I borrow one of your phones for navigation?"
I knew the show was about to begin.
Mila and my mom both took out their mobile phones. Sure enough, they muttered that they had gone to a lot of scenic spots in the morning and had been taking photos and videos until their phones were dead.
In my previous life, I had been suspicious of Luke because of the details of the conversation during the meal. Then, because of this coincidence, I had more doubts in my heart.
Unfortunately, I couldn't persuade my mother and Mila. They snatched my phone and gave it to Luke.
He took us to a villa by the mountain.
The scenery was beautiful, but it was also full of danger.
But this time, I handed my phone to Luke. "My cell phone is high on battery. Take it for the navigation."
As if flattered, he immediately thanked me.
But I didn't miss the blatant disdain and ruthlessness in his eyes.
Mila glared at me and quickly held onto his arm intimately to distract him.
I suddenly felt that Mila was really stupid. She was so stupid that I was a little mad. How could I have been so stupid in my previous life that I didn't let her go to hell?
If so, I wouldn't have ended up getting myself in trouble and dying with a grievance.
Chapter 3
Just like in my previous life, Luke made up a moving story and successfully brought our family to his territory.
He looked at the three of us and grinned.
He looked like a wolf that was about to bite a sheep's neck, his eyes sparkling with shrewdness. "Go inside the villa and rest. I have many surprises for you."
My mother and Mila didn't notice anything fishy at all. They looked around happily.
I silently followed them. Once again, I stepped into the dark cage that looked splendid on the outside but was actually filled with filth.
Standing in the living room, Mila asked with a smile, "Luke, is this your villa? It's so beautiful."
Luke smiled meaningfully. "Really? It's worth the trip. I'm happy that you like it."
Mila smiled shyly.
But the next second, five or six tall and strong men suddenly rushed in from all directions.
They looked fierce and ferocious.
All of them stared at us, giving us a strong sense of oppression.
My mother and Mila were stunned for a while and then shrank back uneasily.
Mila asked in a panic, "Luke, who, who are they?"
Luke ignored her.
One of the men sized us up for a moment before nodding his head. "The three of them all look good. Luke, well done. We're going to make a fortune again!"
Luke replied with a smile, "Yeah. Let's have a drink and celebrate later."
Mila finally realized that something was wrong.
Her face turned pale and she took two steps back from Luke. "Who on earth are you?"
Hearing this, Luke looked at her casually. "As you can see, we're in cahoots."
"Your family's ended up in my hands, thanks to you, crazy fool!"
Mila couldn't believe it, but everything before her eyes made her realize that he was serious!
He was a complete liar!
She shook her head in fear and ran out. "No! I want to go home! I want to go home!"
He took a few steps forward, grabbed her arm, and slapped her twice.
He slapped her hard.
"I'm warning you! You'd better knock it off, or I'll kill you!"
She immediately screamed and burst into tears, struggling with all her might.
"Ouch!" Luke was scratched by her nails.
His face changed, and he immediately flew into a rage. "Bitch! Don't get on my bad side! You're going to make me beat you, aren't you?"
He grabbed her hair and dragged her to the wall.
And then he kept banging her head against the wall.
Until her head was bleeding.
My mother was so scared that she hurried forward and shouted, "Stop, stop! Please."
He kicked my mother away, and Mila feebly collapsed to the ground.
He viciously said, "Mila, since you're so stupid that I can trick you all here easily, I'll spare you this time. But if you keep messing around, I'll really kill you!"
Five minutes later.
My mother and I were locked up in a room in the basement.
Mila, whose head was covered in blood, was temporarily bandaged because she was still useful.
My mother was so anxious that she was at a loss. She cried regretfully, "How could this be? What should I do?"
Until she saw me sitting silently aside.
My mom suddenly stopped crying and said in confusion, "Lainey, why aren't you talking? We've all been deceived! We don't know how Mila is doing. Aren't you worried? Why are you so cold-blooded?"
I looked into her eyes as if I had seen her yell at me resentfully in my previous life. "Why aren't you the one being deceived?"
I was disappointed and didn't want to talk to her anymore.
So I deliberately said, "Keep shouting, and they'll come over. Those desperados versus the two of us. Guess what will happen?"
My mother was afraid and immediately covered her mouth. Then, she squatted on the ground in horror.
A sardonic smile twisted my mouth.
After a while, the empty basement became quieter.
I glanced at the surveillance camera in the corner and reached out for the smartwatch hidden in my boots.
In my previous life, I used this to contact the police, and we got rescued in time.
I was racking my brains to secretly take out the watch.
All of a sudden, Mila rushed in.
She stepped forward, grabbed my smartwatch, and said to Luke behind her as if claiming credit for it, "Luke, look! I'm not lying to you!"
"Lainey is hiding something and trying to call the police! She wants to hurt you!"
I was shocked by the sudden turn of events.
Was it possible that Mila was reborn as well?
