Chapter 1

The biggest scandal of Shawn Real Estate so far was the child swap designed by a nanny.

It became the laughingstock of the whole city.

"I heard that Mr. Clinton and Miss Shawn are getting married soon. The Clinton Group will be even more powerful now. Mr. Clinton, please help us more in the future."

The disgusting flattery was heard all the time.

Emily Shawn snuggled in Joseph Clinton's arms, shyly enjoying the flattery.

The table in the reception room was low.

I squatted at Emily's feet and poured water into the cups on the table.

Just as I was about to turn sideways and leave, the hand that was originally on Emily's waist suddenly grabbed my arm behind me where no one could see.

The panic and helplessness almost made me lose my mind.

I was affected by the sudden resistance.

The kettle in my hand fell heavily to the ground.

The glass fragments were scattered all over the floor.

When everyone turned over, his hand had long since disappeared.

He still held Emily's arm.

"What's going on? You are so useless!"

"Mr. Clinton, Miss Shawn, I'm sorry."

I quickly bent down and apologized to everyone.

Then I squatted down and picked up the broken glass.

I saw Joseph's face full of sarcasm.

The bright red high heels moved gently in front of me to avoid it.

This was his humiliation to me.

It was also his revenge.

I had been the pampered girl in my family since I was a child.

No matter how outrageous the things I did, my family would always help me sort it out.

I didn't like studying, so my family sent me abroad to study art.

I spent all day hanging out in bars abroad.

I feel a bit bored while playing.

With just a casual glance, I saw him, who was not at all influenced by the lights and wine.

Joseph was pulled in front of me.

The loud music suddenly faded in my ears.

I was attracted by his clear eyes.

I sat down on the couch and hunched over.

Then I pinched his face with bright red nails and gently rubbed it with your fingertips.

The cheers rang out.

"Miss Shawn likes you. The money she pays for a manicure is enough for you to serve wine here for a year. Why don't you obey her?"

I found out later that Joseph was an outstanding student from Ethus University.

He wanted to further his professional studies.

So he came to Fleland as an exchange student to work and study.

Maybe it was because of money.

Whatever the reason, he stayed with me.

The next day after every drunken night, I could always see him busy in the kitchen.

He will bring me a bowl of warm soup.

Compared to the noise in the bar, I seemed to prefer watching movies in his arms.

I enjoyed a moment of peace.

This was the first time I discovered that it would be nice to have someone taking care of me like this.

I thought the exchange between him and me was of equal value.

I gave him money to save him from the hard work.

He could concentrate on his studies.

Then he gave me himself in exchange for filling my emotional void.

It was good for all of us.

Chapter 2

"Hey, isn't this Miss Shawn? It turns out you still remember us.

We thought you had lost your mind because of the man at home."

I chuckled and walked in.

I picked up the wine on the table and gestured to everyone at the table. Then I drank it all in one gulp.

"Come on, stop teasing me. I'll pay the bill tonight."

"You are so generous!"

Cheers rang out one after another.

I sat down in the corner.

I hadn't been here in a long time.

The noise gave me a headache.

A girl came and sat next to me.

"Why don't you come over and play with us? Why didn't your smart ass come with you today?"

I leaned close to her ear.

"He was at home reading some papers tonight. I just slipped out by myself."

"Don't let a man who takes your money take advantage of you too much."

"He may look honest on the surface, but you never know what was he thinking."

I didn't respond, just took a sip of wine.

Seeing me like this, she couldn't say anything more.

Then she pulled me into the crowd.

When I came to my senses, the bar was already closed.

Only a few people were lying here and there, unconscious.

I called the waiter and took out my card to pay.

Once, twice, three times.

"Miss, this card doesn't work. How about another one?"

The people around me also woke up one after another.

Seeing me like this, they joked.

"I think Miss Shawn is spending too much and is being punished by her family."

A group of people left together with laughter.

I just thought my parents were angry because of the last argument.

They wanted to force me to surrender in this way.

I didn't take it seriously.

In the end, someone else paid for me. I smiled and said I would pay her back later.

She looked at me with a complicated face.

She sighed softly and patted my shoulder.

"Call your parents."

I unblocked my parents from the blacklist.

Because of the last argument about my studies, I hadn't contacted my family for a month.

Only countless consumption records proved that I was still alive.

I stood on the street in a foreign country and made a phone call that no one answered for an hour.

All my bank cards were frozen.

The cash I had was spent as tips at the bar.

Now, I had no money.

Since I was a child, my family had never lacked a penny in terms of spending.

Since then, I had never developed an awareness of saving money.

Not to mention the return flight ticket, I couldn't pay for the car fare

back to the apartment.

I walked into the second-hand luxury recycling store.

I put my bag on.

Then I almost fled back to my country.

I sold all my luxury items in exchange for a plane ticket back home.

Various outstanding bills for previous consumption almost drowned me.

It snowed in Osken City that day.

I was stopped outside the villa.

The bodyguard who used to be with me stopped me.

I couldn't get close to the door.

Then, the door opened.

"Helena, please go now. Your mother did such a thing, and we have raised you for twenty years. We have done our best.

Now that our beloved daughter is back, please don't come to see us in the future, lest she be sad.

I won't deal with it you. Just consider it as a good deed done by our family."

My father was standing at the door.

He looked down at me and said a few words.

I only saw it not far away, a vague figure stood in the house.

It was not far away, just enough to hear us talking.

She was the mother in whose arms I once snuggled and acted coquettishly.

"Mom, why don't you come over and say a word to me?"

"She's not your mother anymore."

At this moment, I became a child without a home.

It seemed like it was destined.

I looked up at the room that originally belonged to me.

In front of the huge window, I saw a girl I had never seen before.

Her features were somewhat like my mother's.

She looked into the distance. I didn't know what she was thinking.

When I lived in that house as a child, my mother put her arm around my shoulders and took me to sit down in front of the window.

She told me in the most gentle voice.

"Here, baby, you can see the most beautiful scenery."

And now, another girl was sitting in front of the window.

She didn't even glance at me.

I had hardly been frozen since I was a child.

But it was so cold that day.

It was freezing.

I felt cold all over.

Chapter 3

I found out later that my biological mother was the nanny of the Shawn family.

Because of her dishonest behavior, she stole a lot of jewelry.

She was discovered and kicked out by the Shawn family.

She was always holding a grudge.

She learned about the hospital where Mrs. Shawn gave birth from a former colleague.

Then she swapped the two children privately.

From then on, Emily and my lives were completely changed.

Emily discovered this secret when she was packing up my mother's belongings after she died.

When Emily's father and mother came over, Emily was helping people serve food in the university cafeteria.

And the messages that kept popping up on Emily's father's phone were my continuous consumption record abroad.

"Joseph, let go!"

Joseph held my hand tightly and even left red marks on my hand.

He opened the car door and pushed me in and then locked the door without waiting for me to protest.

"We meet again."

Joseph pinched my chin. He was so strong that he seemed to crush it.

I looked up at him. In an instant, it seemed as if the two of us were pulled back to that dreamlike night.

But now, everything was reversed.

"Do you think you should give me an explanation, Helena?"

"What? Do I need to explain even though I don't want to support you anymore?"

Joseph seemed to be irritated by the contempt in my tone.

He threw me away suddenly.

Because of the huge force, I hit the car door hard.

"Yes, using others' money, stealing others' identities, how can you care about others?

After all, you are a thief."

It was mentioned suddenly by a former lover.

It felt hurt.

I thought so many years had passed that I could face the pain I once experienced calmly.

But his words made me feel like I was falling into an icy cave. My whole body was trembling.

Seeing that I didn't say anything, Joseph seemed even more satisfied.

"Helena, this is all the retribution you deserve. It's for your selfishness."

"Yes, I will bear my retribution. I have no complaints about the suffering I have endured over the years."

I looked up directly at this hot figure in the business world today.

"Mr. Clinton, I'm a thief, what are you?

If I hadn't been a thief, how could Mr. Clinton have lived a life of ease and comfort abroad?

We are all beneficiaries of this matter, so why do we have to make it sound so harsh?"

The harsh words brought out all the negative feelings in me.

He was also ruthless when he spoke.

The friendship between me and Joseph was also gradually consumed.

"That's all gone."

I still couldn't bear it after all.

The sound was scattered in the air.

After a long time, Joseph didn't say anything.

All I heard was a chuckle.

"Helena, you are cruel. You were like that before, and you are still like that now."

Joseph suddenly grabbed my neck and pulled me into his arms.

There was a sharp pain in the neck.

"Joseph!"

I cried out in surprise and tried to struggle.

My hands were tightly clamped and I looked out the window involuntarily.

Then I gradually relaxed.

I placed my hand on Joseph's head and lowered my head to whisper in his ear.

The tone was ambiguous, even with some provocation that I was not even aware of.

"I saw Emily, your fiancée."
