Chapter 2

When Lana brought me to the bar, I thought she just intended to let drinks soothe me.

Unexpectedly, as soon as she sat down, she ordered a handsome and caring 6-foot-tall escort for me.

The cute guy sat by my side with a smile as bright as the sun on his face.

It was my first time here. I was originally shy, but as he kept calling me "lady" in a mellow voice, I gradually indulged myself with the enjoyment here.

"How old are you, cute boy? The more I look at you, the more I like you."

After taking a sip of alcohol, I completely relaxed, holding the cute guy's hand, reluctant to let go.

He was very friendly. He said bashfully with his bright and clear eyes, "Lady, I'm 23 years old. Today is my first day at work. I hope I won't disappoint you."

Lana brought me to a relatively decent bar, where the male escorts wouldn't sell their bodies but would only please customers by keeping them company, so there was no such thing as disappointment.

I grinned in euphoria and said, "How possibly can you let me down? I can't like you more."

Lana was sitting opposite us, with a tall and handsome escort sitting beside her as well. The two were playing a dice game, where whoever lost would be slapped by the other.

Not long after, the face of the escort sitting by Lana became swollen.

I couldn't bear to watch it anymore.

"Lana, just let him go. He only wants to earn a living. Don't make things difficult for him."

"I'm sorry, but I'm too lucky today, hahaha."

Just as she finished speaking, the smile on her face froze and was instantly replaced by a sad and scared look.

"You're finished, Lindsey. Your baby is here."

I didn't realize the danger was approaching and kept caressing my cute escort's hand with a lascivious smile, asking Lana, "I have so many babies. Which one are you talking about?"

"Awesome."

"You also think it's awesome, don't you? But my babies are too passionate and almost got me caught by Gerard. I have already told them to keep their distance from me."

Lana looked more and more frightened, her eyes twitching violently as if she had Parkinson's disease. With a drastic change in my expression, I quickly pushed my escort aside and pounced on Lana. "Lana, don't scare me. If you die, Gerard will kill me!"

"No...no, look behind you."

She said, seeming helpless with a sense of concession.

My fingertips paused, feeling a chill down my spine as a bad premonition came to my mind. When I turned around, I met those deep eyes, which startled me so much that I even forgot to breathe for a moment.

"Something's wrong. We have broken up. Does what I do have anything to do with him?" I thought to myself.

As I came back to my senses, the guilty feeling disappeared at once.

"Hey, Mr. Hecht, how come you have the time to hang out here?"

This place full of handsome male escorts was where rich ladies loved the most.

As soon as I finished speaking, I fell silent.

What could a man come to such a place for?

It could be just for that kind of thing.

"Holy shit, Gerard, are you oriented to both men and women?"

His face darkened, with a surge of anger in his deep eyes. He completely ignored whether I felt ashamed or not and carried me out.

"Let go of me! Or I'll sue you for indecency!"

Hung upside down on his shoulders, I felt the alcohol I had just drunk churning in my stomach and a hiccup rising from it. "Ge-Gerard, I'm warning you, if you don't let me go, I'll... puke."

Gerard stopped in his tracks and uttered through gritted teeth with a sullen look, ''Lindsey Yard!''

After vomiting for a while, I got more sober.

But Gerard looked seething with cold eyes as if someone had robbed his wife. He deepened his voice and asked frigidly, "I said we should break up, but you agreed so readily. You did it on purpose, didn't you?"

Chapter 3

"What do you mean I did it on purpose?

"You've wanted to break up with me for a long time, so I just agreed as you wished."

What an unfair accusation he made!

I had never thought about breaking up, though at the same time, I had never thought about getting married.

Compared with those cute boys, I loved Gerard more.

"Babe, you were the one who proposed the breakup, not me. I love you very much, but since you told me to break up, I don't think it's appropriate to persist in sticking with you, is it? We were happy when we were together, and I think we shouldn't become enemies after we broke up."

I said as I gazed at him affectionately and silently took a step back, not for any other reason, but mainly because what I vomited was too unbearable to look at.

He seemed to have noticed this as well. His stunning face looked sullen even more.

I swallowed and plucked up the courage to say, "To be honest, I don't think we are a good match, so the breakup is the best outcome for us. Merry meet, merry part. Let's say goodbye here."

Gerard chuckled in a deep and hoarse voice, "Lindsey Yard, what a good job you did."

After saying this, he gradually turned his piercing gaze to Lana, who followed us out.

"You mean brat, don't think I'll help you just because you are my son. You have already broken up with my little sister, so don't bother her anymore. Call her Aunty Lindsey now."

I couldn't help but snort with laughter.

He glared at me, gnashing his teeth with a fierce but intense look.

"Forget about such meaningless mode of address. Just call me by my name."

After all, he was my ex-boyfriend, so I should still show him some respect.

However, he didn't treat me with respect after I did.

The next day, the cooperation I had just reached fell through for unknown reasons.

"Lindsey Yard, what's wrong with you? Last week, you were so certain to win this cooperation with him, but now he canceled it. Did you offend him?"

Hearing the editor-in-chief's question, I asked in the same bewilderment, "No, when we discussed the cooperation before, we were readily agreed on it."

I had no idea why this guy suddenly went back on his words.

"I don't care. I've already reported this to our superiors. You must win back this cooperation no matter what you do! Otherwise, find another star of the same rank as Xavier Chase. You must fill this vacancy."

How could I find such a person so easily?

Xavier was an extremely popular A-lister who was hard to find a chance to meet.

But he was also Gerard's cousin, which was why I could successfully persuade him into this interview.

Coming out of the editor-in-chief's office, I took a deep breath.

All of a sudden, I remembered I had added him as a contact before.

I quickly took out my phone and found the chat with him, but immediately after I sent a message to him, all I got was a red exclamation mark.

Oh gosh, how boring this top star was!

Unwilling to give up, I contacted Xavier's agent at once. Fortunately, he didn't turn me down and agreed to meet with me.

It was just that the place he suggested meeting me was a little unpleasant.

I looked at the Hecht Group's office building, the tallest building standing in the city center, took several deep breaths, and almost wet my pants in nervousness.

But I still bit the bullet and walked in.

"Hi, my future cousin-in-law. Oh, no, I should call you Ms. Yard now."

Xavier arrived earlier than me, and he had already finished playing a round of the game on his phone when I reached the meeting room.

He put away his phone and leaned back on the sofa casually, completely unlike his usual public image of an aloof superstar. He exuded a rebellious air, totally different from that Gerard had.

"Xavier, I'd like to ask, we had reached the agreement before, didn't we? Why did you suddenly cancel it?"
