Chapter 5

“Gown?” I raised my eyebrows and looked at him, “It's not Sanah’s birthday right? At least as far as I can remember.”

Sanah was Ethan's sister, the only person in the pack who genuinely loved me. She was a beautiful white wolf with a pair of teal eyes. She was considered to be the most beautiful female Alpha in this pack.

Sanah knew that I loved to design and tailor dresses. It could be seen as my hobbies as I never made anything for outsiders but my parents, Ethan, Sanah.

I had been making a gown for her birthday since I got together with Ethan. It felt pleasant to see her beaming face every time she wore them.

“It's so beautiful, sister-in-law.” Sanah hugged me tight, “I would definitely cherish it.”

“Good to hear.” I smiled.

“Who said it's for Sanah?” Ethan still didn't move his eyes from the phone.

“Then who will wear the gown?” I cocked my brows, “It's not you, I guess.”

Ethan’s face turned black again as he twisted his mouth, “Medusa, don't joke.”

He passed me his tab and showed me a design.

“Follow it closely and do a good job.” He muttered, not knowing how unreasonable he was sounding.

The photo was from Clara's chat app moments where she captioned it well: [Only if I could get it on my special day!]

“And you will look like an ass.” I really wanted to be petty for once to say it out loud. But fussing over this in the morning was not my thing.

I didn't say a thing, making the living room feel unnervingly quiet.

But Ethan didn't seem to care about my thoughts, his oh-so-bullshiting-request and looking at me as if he would only expect a Yes.

“When do you want it?” I looked at him directly.

“Two days later.” He murmured.

“Okay.” I nodded, having my coffee, “Send me the photo. Oh remember to arrange the materials too.”

“Isn't it better if you get it by yourself?” He raised his eyebrows, “After all, you have better knowledge.”

“Sure, send Merry to accompany me.” With this I went upstairs.

Moving on to my bedroom, I focused on the design. I remembered the days nine years ago.

“Wow! Medu, you are so good at this.” The teenager Alpha Prince grasped.

“No no, I am not that good.” The seventeen year old Omega who never received any acknowledgement from anyone gasped, “I just tried.”

“Can you make a suit too?” Ethan giggled, “I would like to wear it on the next Gala.”

“Sure.” I was very happy to do this for you.

I recalled how he forced me to make a gown for myself too. It was flowy and beautiful.

For the first time I accompanied him in a Gala, shocking everyone.

“Ethan Elphine,” I hissed under my breath when Lana, my Wolf's face darkened too, she was no longer weak for that bastard Alpha.

“This is the last time I am doing something for you. After making this dress, we are done.”

My chest felt heavy when I continued the design and it would take me whole days.

I didn't have any trace when the outside turned darker and it was already evening.

When I looked up, I encountered a familiar figure. It was Ethan.

“Medusa…” he started, his voice unsure.

I didn't bother stopping the work.

"Anything else?" I asked, my tone flat.

There was a pause before he spoke again. "...I'll MoneyTM you for the ingredients."

I continued on with my work without a word.

After I finished, I went out to get some fresh air.

When I stepped in the garden, I pulled out my phone, Ethan already sent me the money.

I opened the chat app and then our chat history.

6,321 messages…that much!

And they were all sent from my side.

Ethan only replied 30 even with an ‘OK’ most of the time.

“It's hard to care.” I smirked and looked at the beautiful sky above my head.

“Pretty.” I mumbled.

Upstairs, Ethan's room buzzed with the notification of $2000 sent back to him.

I tittered when I imagined his face.

Maybe he would shed his pheromones again and clenched the phone tightly.

Men didn't know what they wanted! Or they just wanted everything which could not be possible.

For the two days, I worked hard continuously. Aside from having meals and sleeping, I didn't have much time left. I went out only the day when Merry took me to buy the materials.

Two days later, at night around nine, when I was having rice cakes, Ethan's name flashed on my phone screen.

“What?” I was too tired to beat around the bush.

“Medusa, where are you?” His voice sounded conscious.

I was sitting in my favourite cafe, devouring my favourite dishes before leaving for all.

But I dodged his question, “Why did you call me so late?”

“Nothing…” Ethan's voice was softer now, “I want to thank you for the dress. It is pretty as always.”

“Oh.” My tone was indifferent and flat.

It was not like I wanted to make it.

There was a brief silence before he spoke again, “Thank you for your hard work.”

“How about I take you to your favourite restaurant for a meal?” he added in a lower voice.

But before I could reply, Clara snatched the phone.

“Medusa, thank you so much for your dress.” She was giggling like a schoolgirl, “I’m looking like a fairy.”

“Are you sure?” I laughed at Lana’s pettiness and shook my head.

Of course, we couldn't say that out loud nor did Clara stop talking.

“You are so good at it. I hope I can be like you.” She gasped, “But you know I’m always clumsy. Ethan always calls me dumb Wolfie.”

I could picture her pouting as she spoke.

Before I could even process her words, she invited me to the party.

“Why don't you come here too. It's so fun.” Her giggling didn't stop all this time.

But I didn't get a chance to respond before Preston's voice returned to the line. "Well, you should rest.”

After that he hung up.

But just a few minutes later, my phone buzzed again. It was a message from him, with his location pinned and a note attached:

[If you do stop by, grab some soft drinks for us.]

Chapter 6

I sighed and couldn't help but let out a sarcastic smile.

“What are they? Animal in the zoo?” I shrugged my shoulders and called out the waiter.

“Pack the rest for me.” I smiled at him and proceeded to move on.

When I opened the door of the VIP room, I spotted Ethan immediately.

He was laughing and feeding Clara while she looked at him with her doe and innocent eyes.

“Ahem!” I cleared my throat to draw their attention to me. The moment Ethan noticed my presence, the annoying expression visibled in his face.

I knew from his gaze what he was thinking.

“Why are you here?” Ethan asked, pacing his way to me.

I laughed softly. I knew from the beginning that Clara sent me the message, not him.

“Didn’t you ask me to come here?” I played dumb.

“I…” before Ethan could say anything, Clara grabbed his hand and greeted me, “Medusa.”

Her voice was as honey glued as ever.

Ethan narrowed his eyes and looked at me wearily.

I shrugged my shoulders.

“Didn't I tell you to rest?” The irritation on his face kept growing.

I opened my mouth to say something but Clara interrupted and playfully hit his arms, “Ethan, don't be like this.”

“Sorry, I mischief and tricked her here.” She winked.

Ethan laughed and patted her head, “Silly girl!”

He was really affectionate and even forgot about the surroundings.

Wow! I raised my eyebrows and laughed.

“Medusa, please sit.” She smiled again at me and showed me a seat which was far from them.

Ethan and Clara sat together. I handed her the soft drinks and spoke up, “Congratulations Clara for your success in this project.”

She waved her hand and leaned close to Ethab, “Oh no! I can't even do it if Ethan didn't help me.”

That was right! Ethan worked day and night for this deal but he gave all this credit to Clara.

That was how love looked like.

I mocked a smile on my face and murmured, “Yup! After all, Ethan loves you very much.”

I looked at Ethan and wriggled my brows, “Isn't it right?”

Ethan's face was gloomy once again but that didn't last long because of certain someone's coquettishness.

“Of course, he took care of me really well.” She squeezed his hand.

Ethan was back to his gentle mood. His pheromones changed into its soothing tone.

I knew that was my chance.

Watching their sweet romance, my hand went into my bag and pulled out a piece of paper.

Breaking The Mate Bond!

Since we didn't mark each other yet, it was easy to reject each other.

But for that, we need to sign a will. But I knew that it would hurt Ethan's ego if I told him directly.

Previously I contacted the pack attorney and asked for any other option but he replied sharply that since Ethan was the Prince and a powerful Alpha of the pack, he would not take any risk if Ethan didn't sign it willingly.

“Ethan” I stepped forward and nudged the hem of his coat who was still in his celebrant mood.

“One of our pack members is having some issues and she needs to solve it immediately. Can you please sign it for me or else she can't proceed further?”

The lightning in the room was dim and I deliberately hid the main part. He glanced at the paper and signed it without noticing the main topic.

“So it never crossed your mind that I could leave you.” Lana grinned as I felt a pang on my heart.

Huh! After a few days, we would no longer be mates! I had nothing to do with him anymore.

I glanced at him for the last time before taking the paper away from him. But he grabbed my hand and looked at me frowning deeply, “You…you are leaving?”

“Yes” I nodded.

“That's all for why you came.” His tone was low and expression was unreadable.

I nodded again.

His face darkened again, and for a second, I thought he was going to say something.

But then, he flinched, pulling his hand back, as if he touched something horrible.

I looked at the scars on my hand which were caused by needles while making the dress for Clara and again shifted my expression to a poker face.

“Done?” I said with a flaten tone.

But Ethan didn't say anything, he must had been disgusted.

After all, he always liked little, coquettish girlies who only revolved around him.

But I side eyed Clara whose eyes glittered for a certain reason as she gasped harder.

She pointed the necklace at me and leaned close while her voice was still so sugary, “Oh Medusa! This necklace feels so familiar.”

“I saw this a few days ago in Ethan's trash can.”

“Is that so?” I laughed mockingly and shifted my eyes to Ethan's neck who fixed his collar to hide.

I pretended not to notice.

“This is pretty common.” My tone is calm, “If you like it, you can keep it. I’m pretty generous, you know!”

Clara’s expression turned ugly. After all, her play didn't go well. She expected me to make a fuss and did something crazy here.

Well, since I no longer love Alpha, I didn't care if he had another mate.

He could go to hell with anyone.

Seeing their bitter expression, my heart was content.

I grinned ironically before leaving the room.

After heading out of the room, I went straight to the nearest trash can and pulled out the necklace from my neck. I looked at it for one last time.

“We brought these couple necklaces on our first anniversary.” Lana groaned.

“It's alright.” I comforted her and threw it in the trash bin.

It no longer meant anything but trash!

While waiting for the elevator, I called my mother.

“I am coming back, mom.” This was the first sentence that came to mind.

“Sure.” Her voice was so soothing, “Come back home.”

“Did you buy ticket for home?” She asked again.

“Not yet.” I sighed, “Soon, in a few days.”

“Good.”

“You’re booking ticket for what?” The familiar voice tugged my ear again.

Ethan sounded confused.

Chapter 7

My eyes widened slightly when I was facing his back and I cut the call quickly.

“Yes, I'm planning to book a movie ticket for myself.” I lied batting a single eyelid, “I heard Tom Brown released a good action movie. It's super cool.”

“Is that so?” Ethan thought something for a while and took out his phone, “Let's watch it now.”

He held my hand and dragged me to a nearby hotel.

He booked a Presidential Suit for us which had a theatre place inside it.

“Isn't it better like this?” He pressed my shoulder.

“Umm mm.” I hummed and watched the movie.

I didn't know how long it lasted or if I really enjoyed it. All I could remember was the movable figure and Ethan's eyes falling on me sometimes.

“Are you enjoying it?” He said, looking at me.

“Yes.” I nodded, and didn't even understand anything about the movie.

But we couldn't finish it before Ethan received a call from Christian, the leader of Moondust Pack.

Ethan focused on their meeting and I dragged my body to the laptop and completed the rest of my work. We worked until dawn, I slept on the table.

When I woke up, I found myself on the bed and Ethan was smiling at me holding a cup of coffee.

“Breakfast is ready.” He said sweetly.

“Thanks.” I said with groggy eyes.

While having breakfast, Ethan broke the silence.

“Did you change your laptop’s password?” He wriggled his eyebrows.

“Yes.” I took another bite. Initially, it was a mixture of Ethan's birthday and our anniversary.

But now it was no longer needed, so I changed it.

He wiped his mouth with tissues and looked at me up and down.

“Let's go to a salon.” He brushed the strand of hair from my forehead, “You need grooming.”

“Grooming?” Lana snorted, “I groomed myself every other month for you earlier but you never noticed.”

But I knew that I didn't have the choice to say no, not when the Pack’s Prince was inviting me.

I nodded and shrugged my shoulders casually.

“Do whatever you want for the last time.” I mumbled almost silently.

We went to a salon and I could finally relax myself. I didn't feel guilty for spending his money at all. It could count as a payback for my nine years of youth or it was better to say that he could never make those days up for me.

When they asked me if I wanted to cut my hair short, Ethan invaded.

“No, she looks good with long hair.” He pressed his lips into a thin line and said.

“Just leave it this way.” I said nonchalantly while scrolling through my phone. I didn't have any right to argue with Ethan anyway. Let him have his way for now.

Ethan could see my unhappy face and wanted to say something more, but his phone buzzed and with a smile plastered on his face, he left.

Even until I was done, Ethan never came back.

I came out of the salon putting the tab on Ethan's name and found Clara and he were having a foot massage together.

Clara was giggling like a little girl as usual and she planted a kiss on his cheek.

“Lovely couple.” My wolf sneered.

When they were all lovey-dovey, Ethan's eyes landed on me and he froze.

“Oh! Medusa! You are here too.” Clara gasped as if she tried to hide something, “Don't get any wrong idea. I was just excited.”

“It's alright. Have fun.” I mumbled.

Ethan tapped her cheek, “Clara, no need to explain that much.”

He looked towards me, “Are you done?”

“Mm.” I nodded and was about to turn around to leave but a chill ran down my spine when there was an alarm of another wolf pack attacking the salon.

Ethan held Clara’s hand and formed a protective shield around her while leaving hurriedly with her.

Amid the panic and chaos, I was left alone.

Later it was declared to be a false notice.

Ethan returned to the place where we were earlier to look for me but I was nowhere to be found.

I headed straight to the attorney’s office and pressed the will where Ethan signed to break the mate bond.

“Want to do it immediately?” Attorney Wen, a beta, asked me.

“Wait until I get on the flight.” I left after telling him everything.

He agreed and gave me the instructions.

“I already arranged necessary information.” He frowned, felt pity for me, “Just reject him when the time comes.”

“Thank you.” I smiled faintly and left.

I booked an emergency flight ticket and quickly got onto the plane before destroying my sim card.

After the flight board, I leaned against the window seat, Lana shed tears for the last time as it was hurting the heart when I rejected my fated mate.

“I, Medusa Revara, am rejecting Alpha Ethan Elphine as my mate.”

After today, we could no longer be together.
