Chapter 1

The first time I met Justin Smithson was at my younger brother, Eric Jefferson's workplace.

At that time, he was scolding Eric, exuding a powerful yet aloof aura

With just a couple of sentences, Justin tore into Eric so viciously that Eric wished the ground would swallow him up.

His profile was impeccable, his body proportions rivaling a male model's.

Perhaps sensing my gaze, he turned his head to meet my eyes.

Beneath the gold-rimmed glasses, his eyebrows were deep-set and alluring, while his eyes gleamed with a chilly pride.

He stood there, untouchable and indifferent, tantalizingly alluring and evoking a yearning within to claim him privately.

My damn possessiveness had indeed stirred up in an instant.

"Hello, I'm Eric's sister. My name is Valery Jefferson."

I was so enthusiastic, but Justin just glanced at me indifferently.

Fortunately, my keen eyes caught a glimpse of the work badge dangling from his chest.

Justin Smithson.

The name matches mine very well.

Catching the odd expression in my eyes, my little brother promptly bowed and apologized, hastily pulling me away.

……

At the end of the corridor, as soon as I took out the cigarette case, it was snatched away by Eric.

"This is a hospital. You can't smoke at will!"

I rolled my eyes at him and said, "You're being so rude! What were you doing, acting like a scared quail just then?"

"You're the quail!"

Eric gave me a stern look and warned me, "Don't even think about Mr. Smithson. I'll be screwed if you do, I can't handle the fallout here."

I pinched the lighter between my fingers and fiddled with a malicious smile. "Is it so obvious? Even you can tell."

"You're still chuckling over there!" Eric's face twisted with annoyance, like he was ready to pounce, "I'm not kidding around here! Don't flirt with Mr. Smithson!"

"Got it."

After perfunctorily dealing with Eric, I immediately booked an appointment with Justin on my phone.

I didn't know whether it was a coincidence, but Justin was from the Caesar department.

"Wouldn't there be a good show tomorrow?" I thought.

When Justin saw me the next day, he was not surprised.

He looked at me as if he was looking at an item.

"What's wrong with you?" he asked politely.

I pointed to my chest. "It hurts here."

Justin asked me to get up, and he also stood up.

"Lift up your clothes," asked him.

"Do I have to lift up my undershirt too?" I asked.

"Yes," answered him.

This scene... was exactly what I wanted.

However, in the next second, Justin called a female doctor in.

"Check her out and see if there are any hard lumps."

The female doctor seemed slightly confused but did not ask any more questions and did as she was told.

Just then, Justin answered a phone call. Perhaps there was something he didn't want to discuss in front of others, so he stepped out with his phone.

I asked the female doctor, "Does Mr. Smithson never physically examine female patients?"

The female doctor shook her head and said, "In the past, Mr. Smithson did the examination himself. In our eyes, there is no distinction between male and female patients."

I see.

“So, he's only hesitant to examine me physically?”

Tsk, I was more interested.

After answering the phone, Justin returned, talked with the female doctor for a while, and then the female doctor left.

They were all professional terms, and I didn't quite understand them. I asked him softly, "Am I ok?"

"It's not a big deal. If you're worried, take an X-ray."

I quickly checked the time and said seriously, "I've got a client meeting at four, and it’s cutting it close. How about I reschedule the X-ray for tomorrow?"

Chapter 2

Justin nodded, and his tone softened inexplicably, "Tomorrow for the X-ray, then."

At that time, I didn't understand what he meant.

Later on, when I was trying to book an appointment online, I noticed that Mr. Smithson wasn't listed as an available option

I then asked Eric and learned that Justin was off tomorrow. Only then did I realize that his momentary kindness was a disguised mockery of me.

The more challenging it was, the more I liked it.

Ultimately, my specialty was eagerly embracing the challenge of pursuing men.

"I got Justin's number from Eric and promptly called him to invite him out for dinner.

Unsurprisingly, he refused me.

Of course, I'm not discouraged. I chose to keep trying despite repeated failures

Then something strange happened-

Although he refused whenever I invited him to dinner, he always answered my calls.

Then I booked an appointment with him again. This time, my chest hurt.

During my previous menstrual cycles, I used to feel a bit of fullness in my chest, so initially, I didn't give it much thought.

But now, several days after my period had ended, my chest was still hurting, even with the slightest touch. I was afraid that I might have developed some health issues.

Upon seeing me, Justin's originally indifferent expression turned somber, and his tone became indifferent and unyielding. "Ms. Jefferson, I made it clear to you on the phone last time. I hope you..."

"My chest is actually hurting, genuinely."

Justin was stunned. Recognizing my seriousness, he immediately reminded himself of his medical ethics.

He asked me to sit across from him and then began inquiring, "Is the pain constant or occasional? Have you touched it yourself, and can you feel any lumps?

I responded honestly, "It's continuous swelling pain. There seems to be a hard lump on the right side. I'm not sure."

Justin stared at me for a while and then asked me to lift up my clothes like last time.

I thought he would repeatedly call the female doctor, but I didn't expect him to do it himself.

Despite the gloves covering his hands, the gentle touch had my scalp buzzin.

I stared at him, not letting go of any expression.

But he was too calm, and his eyes were full of profoundness, which made it difficult to tell whether he was happy or angry.

After the examination, Justin gave me a referral for an X-ray.

"Bring the X-ray results back to me after the examination," said Justin.

"Oh," I answered.

Finished tidying up, I turned around and walked out.

At the door, I turned around and asked him, "Are your private consultations expensive??"

Justin frowned slightly and said, "What does that mean?"

"It means to ask you to come to my house to treat me."

Hearing this, Justin adjusted the gold-rimmed glasses on his nose. His fingers were slender and beautiful.

The white coat made his gentle and restrained temperament even more vivid.

At that time, I thought that if such a person became a scum, it would be very exciting.

Of course, Justin wouldn't agree to come to my house to treat me in private.

But I can go to his house.

"How did you know that I lived here?" Justin stood before the door, showing no intention of letting me in.

Seeing I didn't answer, he took out his mobile phone to call my brother.

I pressed down on his hand that was dialing the number.

Justin shrank back, for fear that I would have physical contact with him.

"Isn't... isn't he too pure?"

He was a breast surgeon!

Justin stared at me and asked, "How did you know I lived here?!"

"That day, I spotted a delivery package in your office, which bore your home address on it."

Hearing this, Justin was speechless.

That was the pen he had purchased online. He forgot to pick it up from the delivery locker on the first day it arrived. The next morning, he returned to retrieve it and took it to the hospital.

Chapter 3

He didn't expect that not only did I have sharp eyes, but I also paid attention to everything.

"What's the matter? He asked me again flatly.

I quickly looked inside your room and cut to the chase, "You live here by yourself?"

"What do you want to do?"

"If you can't come to my place to treat me, I'll just have to come over to yours and see if you can help me. Is that alright?"

Perhaps because I was shamelessly persistent, Justin couldn't stifle a chuckle, exasperated, "Is this how you ask for help?"

I shrugged and said, "This is my first time asking for help. I'm not very good at it yet."

Justin narrowed his eyes slightly.

"Can I come in?"

In the end, he let me in.

He knew darn well that, by showing up at his doorstep, I was fully committed to playing the shameless card to the very end.

"What would you like to drink?" he asked me as he stood by the fridge.

But before I could reply, he poured me a glass of water.

I looked at the glass he handed me and chuckled. " Mr. Smithson, are you genuinely pure or just putting on a show of innocence?"

Justin answered, "I don't understand what you're talking about."

"I'll drink those," I said, pointing at his wine cabinet.

Justin assumed his professional air as a doctor and remarked, "You don't come to see me for medical advice, do you? Remember, alcohol and illness don't mix well."

"That is to say, you are willing to treat me?"

As I spoke, I got up and walked towards him.

Justin didn't dodge.

I was surprised, but I continued to walk forward.

It was not until our clothes were stuck to each other that I asked Mr. Smithson again, "What's your fee for consulting with me at your residence?"

"It's costly."

"How much? If I can't afford it, can I offer myself in marriage as a token of gratitude?"

smirked, his lips curling in a hint of sarcasm, and said, "Getting bored with your dating pool, huh? Looking to mix things up with me now?"

"What dating pool?"

"Don't pretend," he grabbed my arm and pushed me back to keep a distance from me, "You're not exactly a pro at asking for favors, but when it comes to flirting, you've got it down pat!"

I was amused by his words and tiptoed closer to his lips, exhaling softly with a fragrant breath, "Am I really that good? I think you are the type who wouldn't be swayed by temptation?"

"What exactly constitutes being swayed?" he asked.

Even when kissing, Justin had a restrained look on his face.

Seeing that I didn't close my eyes, he raised his hand to cover them.

"Mr. Smithson..."

"Focus on paying."

I kept quiet, but once it was all done, I couldn't help but ask, "Mr. Smithson, is it standard procedure for you to collect payment before even examining the patient?"

" Not for others, but for you, it is."

"Then Mr. Smithson, are you going to treat me now or later?"

"Now."

The feeling of not wearing gloves and wearing gloves was completely different.

I suddenly suspected that Justin was just restraining his desire on the surface.

His way of treating patients was so professional.

He was so professional that I was still confused when he tidied up his clothes and resumed his calm and restrained look.

Justin adjusted his glasses and looked at the clock on the wall. His voice was low, "It's too late. You should go home."

Heh.

"He's really something," I thought.

I lowered my head and chuckled. Then, I went to the sofa and took out a cigarette case and a lighter from my bag.

This was the first time I had smoked in front of Justin.

He frowned as if he didn't like it.

"If you need to smoke, please do it outside. Don't make my house smell like smoke."

"Mr. Smithson, you don't smoke? " I'll blow a puff of smoke in his direction. "It's a pity. Smoking a cigarette and savoring it slowly during moments like these offers distinct enjoyment."

"Valery Jefferson."

"What's wrong?"
