Chapter 2
Right when Noah was about to read the words divorce agreement, Millie tugged lightly on his sleeve.
“President Garcia, I think someone from the company contacted you earlier. I forgot to tell you.”
Hearing her words, Noah didn’t even check the papers and signed immediately.
His eyes looked at Millie with concern.
“Is your body feeling bad? You don’t have to use excuses in front of me.”
Millie silently gave a small nod.
Noah quickly lifted her into his arms. Without looking at me once, he turned and walked away.
“Brielle, I already signed the paper you wanted. After this, you’re not allowed to target Millie over this matter anymore!”
Noah’s tone sounded very cold.
I looked at the divorce agreement in my hand and smiled as tears quietly rolled down my face.
Five years of marriage ended there.
After wiping my tears dry, I expressionlessly sent a text.
[Dad, he already signed the divorce agreement. Please hurry and handle everything. I want to leave him quickly!]
Dad soon replied.
[After one week, I’ll send someone to bring you home.]
I turned around, headed upstairs, and packed my luggage.
Without thinking twice, I threw all the presents and keepsakes Noah gave me into the garbage.
Those items used to stand for Noah’s love for me.
Now that Noah meant nothing to me anymore, those things meant nothing to me either.
The next morning, I suddenly smelled a harsh burning scent.
As I frowned and walked out of the room, I discovered sparks coming from the nursery I prepared for the baby in my stomach!
I anxiously ran inside and saw Millie in office clothes, burning the little outfits I made for my baby by hand!
Several damaged longevity locks were also tossed into the flames.
After my baby died, those were the only memories I had left.
But Millie still refused to leave, even though alone!
My anger instantly erased all my calmness.
I didn’t even have time to wonder why Millie was doing it. I rushed toward her and tried to snatch the baby clothes from her hands.
But in the end, I was too late.
As soon as the little clothes touched the flames, they quickly caught fire.
I weakly fell to the floor, and only then did I clearly see what the once cozy nursery had become.
Everything inside had been ruined. The crib and toys I prepared were smashed apart.
The walls were badly burned by the fire, and large stains of blood covered them.
The whole place looked like a murder scene.
Right in the middle were the words short-lived ghost written in blood.
My anger made my breathing turn heavy. My eyes turned red as I stared at Millie.
“Millie! You actually dared destroy this room!”
I shouted loudly, wishing I could kill her right there.
Millie looked at me with cold disrespect and calmly spoke.
“I only did this for President Garcia’s sake. Yesterday, a master passed by and said there’s an angry spirit from a short-lived ghost who died unfairly in this villa. It could harm President Garcia.”
“He told me to destroy the short-lived ghost’s room and burn the remaining items too, so I had no choice but to do it.”
After speaking, she suddenly laughed once.
“Of course, everything I did had President Garcia’s permission. If you’re not happy about it, you can go ask him yourself. Right now, I still need to finish my work, so please don’t make trouble for me.”
While speaking, she pushed me aside and still planned to continue ruining the room.
The anger inside me completely exploded.
I stopped caring about everything and fiercely slapped Millie across the face.
“Get out! Leave right now! I’ll never let you touch my child’s room again!”
I screamed, letting out all the hatred.
Just as I was about to shove Millie out the next second, a pair of large hands suddenly grabbed me tightly.
Chapter 3
Noah deeply frowned, and the way he looked at me was full of anger.
“Brielle, what are you doing? Didn’t you promise me yesterday that you wouldn’t touch Millie again?”
I bit my lip hard until I tasted blood before forcing myself to calm down.
I laughed coldly and shouted, “Noah, I agreed to let Millie go because of what happened to my child!”
“But look at what she’s doing now! She killed my child and still calls my child a short-lived ghost! She even burned the few things my child left behind. I’m going to kill her!”
Noah’s body shook as he lifted his head and looked at the once warm children’s room.
Back when I first became pregnant, Noah had been extremely happy.
He even pushed aside the company work and carefully prepared this child’s room with me.
We carefully picked every toy and every decoration, afraid that something bad might hurt the child.
The lucky lock charm that had already burned black was personally carved by him.
Five years of marriage, and that was the first time I truly believed Noah and me could stay together forever.
But in only a few days, Noah seemed like a completely different person.
The housekeeper caused our child’s death, yet he didn’t ask about it or care at all.
He even shared a candlelight dinner with her.
Could five years of love really disappear that fast?
Or maybe he never loved me from the start.
My heart hurt badly, like it was being ripped apart.
Noah noticed how pale I looked, frowned, then quietly sighed.
“Forget it. I agreed to let Millie do this, too. Since the things are already burned, let them burn.”
“The child is already gone. Keeping these things behind isn’t good either.”
After hearing that, I slowly lifted my head in shock.
At first, I thought the so-called master and short-lived ghost were only lies Millie made to fool people.
But Noah actually believed it too.
Did he forget how much he once waited for this child?
Why could he forget the child so completely after only one day?
At that moment, Noah suddenly looked extremely cold to me.
He was so cruel, so disgusting!
My face turned pale as I slapped Noah hard across the face.
I would never allow Millie to keep ruining the child’s things, even if Noah agreed to it!
I used all my strength to shove them away.
Noah’s face looked full of fake helplessness.
“Brielle, enough. Stop causing trouble. Let Millie handle it, or you’ll only feel worse when you see these things later.”
Hearing him speak only made my anger grow stronger.
I suddenly pulled my hand back, ready to slap Noah again.
Right then, Millie grabbed my wrist tightly, anger all over her face.
“I won’t let you hurt Noah again!”
Right after saying that, she suddenly shoved me down the stairs!
I turned around in shock and saw that Noah wasn’t worried about me falling at all, nor did he try to catch me.
Instead, he looked at Millie with eyes full of feeling.
At that moment, my heart completely broke.
With a loud bang, blood sprayed everywhere, and terrible pain spread through my whole body.
My sight slowly darkened, and I passed out.
Right before I lost consciousness, I finally heard Noah’s worried voice.
“Brielle!”
Too bad, I didn’t believe him anymore.
Chapter 4
While half awake, I felt my body being carried away.
A needle stabbed into my skin, making my mind a little clearer.
Half-conscious, I heard Noah talking to the doctor.
“Doctor, after the surgery, make a report saying Brielle is okay.”
The doctor answered softly, “But President Garcia, Ma’am’s injuries are very bad. She recently miscarried, and this fall caused even more damage to her spine. Later on, it may be difficult for her to have children again, and there’s also a chance she could become paralyzed...”
Before he finished talking, Noah interrupted him with annoyance.
“I know her injuries are serious, but the report must say she’s okay. Millie didn’t push her on purpose. In the end, Brielle is also responsible for this.”
“If she had done what I told her and allowed Millie to burn those items, none of this would’ve happened. Millie only pushed her because of me. I won’t let Brielle use this reason to hurt Millie!”
The doctor softly muttered again, like he still wanted to say more.
Noah couldn’t wait anymore and openly threatened him.
“You’d better remember whose hospital you work in. Garcia Corporation has hospitals across the country. If I want to, you may never work again in the future...”
The doctor’s hands trembled badly, but in the end, he quietly agreed.
Only after Noah’s footsteps became distant did my tears finally fall.
Even after so many arguments with Noah, I still never thought he could be this cruel.
Millie pushed me downstairs, but he didn’t even care about my condition.
He even planned to help Millie hide the truth.
He really loved Millie.
Then what about me?
I stayed married to him for five years. I was his actual wife.
Did I need to give everything up for their love?
And to Noah, what did our child and I even mean?
Hatred suddenly rushed through my heart.
I didn’t know where the strength came from, but I suddenly opened my eyes and stared at the doctor.
“Keep the real report for me! Otherwise, the Simpson family won’t spare you!”
The doctor looked at me in fear, then finally nodded with shaking hands.
Right after that, the medicine’s effect spread through my body again.
I slowly lost consciousness once more.
Before everything turned dark, I dug my nails deeply into my palm, using the pain to remember this moment.
I was going to use that report to send Millie to prison completely!
I was going to make both Noah and Millie pay for this!
When I opened my eyes again, I was already lying in a hospital bed.
The bright ceiling light hurt my eyes as it swayed above me.
Beside me, Millie saw that I was awake and nervously spoke to Noah.
“President Garcia, your wife is awake. Should I explain things to her?”
Noah quietly nodded.
After seeing that, she turned to me. Her voice sounded sorry, but her eyes secretly carried provocation as she said:
“Ma’am, I’m really very sorry. I only acted carelessly for a moment.”
“I thought you were still trying to hurt President Garcia, so I pushed you down the stairs. If Ma’am had let me throw away those useless things earlier, this wouldn’t have happened.”
With only a few words, Millie pushed all the blame onto me.
And Noah, beside her, stayed silent as he agreed with everything.
I laughed coldly and mocked her. “This is your apology? You treated my child’s belongings like garbage, pushed me down the stairs, and caused me such serious injuries, yet you can’t even say sorry?”
“Who gave you the confidence? Do you think that because Noah protects you, I can’t touch you?”
I looked straight at her, anger showing in my eyes.
Millie pressed her lips together and softly whispered, “Ma’am, I’m sorry. I truly only did this for President Garcia.”
While speaking, her eyes slowly became red.
