Chapter 1

When I got back from work, I saw my aunt's scooter parked in the courtyard of my villa.

I drove the car into the garage.

I stepped into the room in my high heels.

Sure enough, Edith was leisurely drinking a nice wine my friend had brought home from abroad, $3,000 per bottle.

I was stingy with it.

I was gonna drink it with Levi on our third wedding anniversary next month.

However, Edith beat me to it and gulped down the wine.

I was so angry that I threw my handbag on the sofa next to Edith.

I didn't hit Edith in the face with my handbag for my mother's sake.

"This bottle of wine is worth $3,000. Will that be cash or credit card?"

Edith slowly turned around with a glass of wine in her hand and looked at me with a flattering face, drunk looking.

"What credit card? I'm your aunt. Besides, I came all the way here. Can't I have a drink?"

I walked past Edith, picked up the bottle that she had just finished, and threw it hard on the ground.

I looked at her coldly.

"Credit card or cash?"

Edith seemed to have been startled by me. She took out her phone from her handbag, trembling.

After pressing it a few times, she put it on her ear.

A few seconds later, the call was answered.

Edith began to complain tearfully.

"Sis, you gave birth to such an ungrateful daughter who almost killed me. If I had called you later, I might have died. Oh, my dear sister."

Edith put it on speaker.

And I could clearly hear my mother's helpless sigh.

"I told you not to provoke Violet. It's all thanks to her mercy that you were able to call me alive."

"Hurry up and come back. If Violet gets angry and hits you, you'll suffer."

Edith's expression changed drastically and she looked at me awkwardly.

I still looked at her with a cold face.

My mother's voice continued to come from the phone.

"Hey, by the way, what do you want to see Violet about? There are so many people in your store now. Come back quickly. Dave can't handle it alone."

Edith didn't respond. Her eyes darted left and then right, and in the end, she hung up the phone, not knowing what to say.

Just then, Levi's irritable, blurred voice came from the bedroom.

"Get out of here!"

I looked in the direction of the voice, and Edith immediately stood up with vigilance.

"In cash, in cash. Violet, come with me to the bank, and I'll get the money."

Edith smiled obsequiously and guiltily.

Of course, I didn't believe that she would listen to me.

I went straight to the bedroom.

She trotted behind me, held on to my clothes, and pulled me back.

"Hey, Violet, it's just $3,000. I have the money. Just drive me to get it."

"Come on, let's go. I'll buy you something delicious. It's been a long time since we last met. Violet, you're so tall. I can't reach you."

Edith stood on her tiptoes and hooked her arm around my shoulder, trying to please me.

I was nearly 5'7" tall, and Edith was 5 feet tall. Naturally, she had to stand on her feet and talk to me.

I'd always been cold-hearted and never interacted with my relatives.

Everyone knew that I didn't do so well with my relatives. Even though I made hundreds of thousands of dollars a year and I married a great guy, few relatives came to me for help. They didn't want to mess with someone who once almost killed her own father.

But Edith was an exception.

She loved to be snubbed.

Edith wanted me to open a pasta restaurant for her. She also wanted me to find a good university for her daughter, Nora, who had just finished SAT, and pay for all of her expenses. Edith said we were a family.

Chapter 2

The most outrageous thing Edith did was ask me to buy her a house in a neighborhood near my mom's house under the pretext that my mom was bored at home alone, so that she could easily catch up with my mom.

At first, I was annoyed that Edith kept bugging me, so I helped her several times.

However, the more I helped her, the more she made me feel bad.

In the past few days, she learned from my mother that I was infertile.

She actually thought of kicking me out of the house.

She had a lot of tricks up her sleeve. Most of them were sinister and vicious. Relatives all knew about this and were afraid of her.

After all, her presence would destroy a family very quickly.

I ignored her. For the sake of peace and quiet, Levi and I moved into the villa that we had just bought.

Edith was not discouraged. She kept nagging in front of my mother and sent me good morning messages from time to time.

She must have learned my new address from my mother before coming straight to my villa.

My intuition told me that there was something wrong with Edith.

I let go of Edith and went to open the bedroom door.

"Levi, open the door."

But the door was locked from the inside, and I couldn't open it no matter what. Levi's voice was very weak.

I glared at Edith and pressed her step by step.

"Get out of the way."

She took a small step to the left guiltily.

With a wave of my arm, I pushed her against the wall.

She sat on the ground crying, slapping her thigh and complaining.

"Don't be so arrogant even though you get married to a rich man. You grew up drinking my breast milk. Now, you're an adult, and you hate me. I loved you so much when you were a child. You heartless thing."

I rolled my eyes at Edith. I hadn't eaten her breast milk. I hardly ever drank my mother's breast milk. How dare she say such a thing? Then, I strode to the warehouse.

When I came back from the warehouse, Edith was fixing her makeup.

When Edith saw the hammer in my hand, she was so scared that she immediately stood up. The mirror fell to the ground and broke into pieces, which were 6 feet away from me.

I raised my hand and slammed the lock a few times.

The hammer was very powerful. I had practiced for a few years since I was a child, so I could easily smash the door lock.

After opening the door, I saw a scene that I would never forget for the rest of my life.

I had never thought that such a thing would happen in my house, but it indeed had happened.

It was extremely embarrassing for me.

I stood at the door and looked at Levi, who was lying on the bed and looked innocent and aggrieved.

The woman at the end of the bed had put on her clothes.

With a wry smile, I pulled her long hair and pulled her away from Levi.

I pulled the blanket over Levi.

The woman sitting on top of Levi was Nora.

A few days ago, I arranged for Nora to take a part-time job at Levi's coffee shop.

She was very obedient and well-behaved.

She did whatever Edith told her to do. She couldn't tell right from wrong and thought everything Edith said was true.

It was probably Edith's idea to put on this show today.

I pulled Nora out of the house, and Edith trotted behind us.

Edith was still shouting.

"Violet, you've gone too far. After all, I watched you grow up. How can you treat me like this? Aren't you afraid of retribution?"

"How disappointed your mother must be to have a daughter like you."

"Look at Nora. She's so obedient. Why are you so stubborn?"

"Violet, if you still have a conscience, do as I say. Levi comes from a big family. How could you have a good life if you don't give him a child?"

Chapter 3

"I'm doing good for you. Why don't you appreciate it?"

I scoffed and dragged Edith out of the villa.

"Edith, I'll do something nice for you. Many rich people like Levi live in this villa area. If Nora runs around naked, she will definitely find a rich husband."

Levi was lying on the bed with Nora's stuff in his mouth.

I pulled it out with a tissue in disgust.

Levi didn't dare to look at me. His nose and eyes were unusually red.

His sobs kept coming to my ears.

It was not the first time Levi had cried in front of me. In fact, I lost count of how many times he cried.

He either hid himself when he cried or held back his tears as he looked in a certain direction.

Sometimes, he was very depressed, which scared me.

Before I could say anything, he couldn't wait any longer.

It was as if I would pack him up and throw him out like I threw Elia.

"Sweetie, you saw it. They forced me to do this. I didn't cheat on you."

"I'm sorry, sweetie. Don't abandon me. I'm going to take a shower and wash Nora's smell off of me, okay?"

I did see it.

Edith and Nora made Levi do it.

But I couldn't pretend that I didn't see that he was sexually aroused by another woman.

"Uh," I replied.

I began to untie the ropes on his body.

At this time, his phone rang.

I glanced at the screen of his phone.

It was Romy, my mother-in-law.

Romy never looked me in the eye.

One reason was that my family background was not good enough for Levi.

Secondly, I had almost become a murderer.

But she still agreed to the marriage.

There was no other reason.

Levi loved me.

Therefore, even though Romy disliked me...

She couldn't change Levi's mind.

I had to admit that he used to be a bit arrogant and brash.

He was even a mama's boy.

But he was never like that with me.

He was warm and considerate and feared from time to time that I would leave him.

He was like a child without a sense of security.

I looked at Levi's red wrist and sticky body fluids.

I got a little nauseous all of a sudden.

As soon as I suppressed the churning in my stomach.

Romy's voice came out.

"Levi, how are you feeling? Mom will be here soon. Are you injured?"

Levi cleared his throat and said, "It's okay, Mom. You don't have to come over."

I immediately perked up.

How did Romy know about Levi being tied up in bed?

I had just thrown Edith and Nora out of the door.

No matter what, it shouldn't have reached her in a few minutes.

I looked at the devastated Levi, who was no longer as gracious as he used to be.

He looked at me in confusion.

He said in a low voice, "I didn't tell her that."

I recalled that Romy was as greedy for money as Edith.

I had a general idea of what was going on.

I stood up and walked out of the room.

Levi hurriedly hung up the phone and asked me.

"Violet, where are you going?"

Levi sounded nervous and uneasy.

He was afraid that I would never come back.

I didn't reply to him.

I walked straight out of the house through the back door.

As I made my way around the back door to the main street, I saw Romy, Edith, and Nora in a floral scarf and coat.

I leaned to one side and hid behind the wall of the villa.
