Chapter 1

I am the only daughter of the Henson family.

From a young age, my parents groomed two potential husbands for me.

Jasper Thorne, calm and dependable. Caleb Reed, passionate as fire.

They both swore they would love me for a lifetime.

We grew up together, and both my parents and I assumed I would eventually choose one of them as my husband.

In my first life, out of gratitude for Jasper saving me from an accident on a frozen lake, I chose him.

But on our wedding night, he plunged a dagger into my chest.

"Forgive me, Juliet. I have no other choice." His hot tears fell onto my palm, cooling along with my blood.

My restless spirit found no peace and was reborn on the day of my choice.

In my second life, I resolutely chose Caleb.

Yet again, on the night of my 25th birthday, I met the same fate at his hands.

In the blink of an eye, I found myself in my third life.

This time, before I could speak, they both dropped to one knee.

In unison, they pleaded, "Don't choose me."

The moment they spoke, a hush fell over the boisterous banquet hall.

My parents' faces turned ashen.

My father's gaze cut between their faces, his tone stripped of its usual warmth.

"What is the meaning of this? Is my daughter not good enough for you?"

The Hensons are an old, distinguished New York family. We built a global business empire and are an unshakable force on Wall Street. My parents inherited and expanded that empire, and I am their only heir.

Whoever married me would take control of this vast family business.

Moreover, the three of us had grown up together, sharing an unbreakable bond. Jasper and Caleb had long ago promised that no matter who I chose, the other would remain a part of our family, protecting me for life.

So, faced with their simultaneous rejection, my parents were not only shocked but filled with an uncontainable rage.

My heart, too, clenched with an inexplicable pain.

Noticing my pale face, my mother held my hand, her voice laced with both heartache and a coldness directed at the two kneeling men.

"If you're refusing, you must have a reason. Do you feel my Juliet isn't good enough, or is there someone else? Explain yourselves, so we can all walk away with our dignity intact. The Henson family will not hold a grudge!"

Jasper immediately looked up, his voice tight. "No! To us, Juliet is the most wonderful woman in the world. The best years of our lives were spent together. How could there ever be anyone else?"

The redness rimming Jasper's eyes reminded me of that snowy night in my first life.

Before that night, I had never doubted his love, which ran as deep as the ocean. He was reserved and meticulous, treating me with unparalleled care. My parents were always busy with their careers, and Caleb had an impulsive nature, so Jasper was the one who looked after me throughout my childhood.

He remembered my birthday, all our anniversaries, and he even kept track of my cycle. He knew I loved spicy food, hated celery, and exactly how much sugar I took in my coffee. Whenever I was with Jasper, I never had to worry about a single detail. He celebrated my joys with surprises and offered a steadfast shoulder when I was down. He was my guardian angel, rescuing me time and again, always there when I needed him most.

When I was eighteen, I fell through the ice on a frozen lake. The ice shattered, the water was bone-chilling, and everyone froze in panic. Only Jasper jumped in without a moment's hesitation. He used his own body to shield me from the freezing water and lift me out, but the prolonged exposure left him with severe pneumonia. If the rescue team had been a minute later, he would have died.

It was that incident that made me decide to choose Jasper. I thought a man willing to die for me was a man I could trust with my life.

But when I, dressed in my wedding gown, joyfully pushed open that door, what greeted me was the cold glint of a dagger.

Jasper stabbed me several times, each strike calculated to avoid a fatal wound but ensure I would bleed out slowly. The crimson blood soaked my pure white gown. I collapsed to the floor, struggling in agony, gurgling sounds escaping my throat, unable to speak a single word.

Jasper trembled all over. He held me tightly, tears streaming down his face as he kissed my forehead again and again, whispering apologies. His eyes were overflowing with love, yet the hand gripping the hilt of the dagger pushed it even deeper. He didn't let go until I drew my last breath, my eyes wide with disbelief.

Even in death, I could not understand why.

Did Jasper love me, or did he hate me? If he loved me, why kill me? If he didn't, why show such profound pain as I died?

I turned to look at Jasper, trying to find a clue in his deep eyes, but he just lowered his head, avoiding my searching gaze and my parents' interrogation.

"Please, just consider me indebted to Juliet. If I ever get the chance, I'll repay the Henson family for raising me, even if it costs me my life."

My parents had personally groomed Jasper; they knew his character well. Seeing him so resolute, they didn't press him further.

My father sighed and turned his gaze to Caleb. "And you?"

Chapter 2

Caleb glanced up at me, his eyes churning with intense emotions I couldn't comprehend. But in the end, like Jasper, he lowered his head.

"I... I can't marry Juliet either. I know I'm deeply indebted to the Henson family, and I know how wonderful she is. But... we just can't be together."

He, too, seemed to be struggling with some unspeakable burden, his mouth opening and closing several times without a sound.

Faced with my parents' suspicious gazes, he seemed at a loss. Suddenly, he steeled himself and bolted from the banquet hall.

"I know this will hurt you and Juliet, but I can't marry her. I absolutely can't. If you force me, I swear I'll take my own life to prove it!"

He jumped into a sports car, the engine roaring to life. Just beyond the estate lay cliffs that plunged to the sea below. If he drove off, there would be no chance of survival.

Caleb's car had already reached the edge of the lawn. If the estate's security team hadn't reacted in time, blocking his path with their vehicles, he would have plunged to his death.

Such a drastic reaction startled everyone. My parents no longer dared to mention the wedding and rushed forward to calm him down.

"Caleb, what are you doing? This is supposed to be a celebration, not a funeral! You both swore you'd marry no one but Juliet! What... what on earth is happening!"

My father let out a heavy sigh. This man, who had navigated the business world for half his life without so much as frowning, now seemed to have aged decades in an instant.

Looking at the anguished Jasper and the red-eyed Caleb, my father's gaze finally settled on me.

"Did Juliet do something to hurt you? Are you being so hesitant because you're trying to protect her? Or are you being coerced, facing some difficulty you can't speak of? We're a family. If that's the case, you need to tell us so we can figure out a solution together!"

Though Jasper and Caleb were originally orphans my father sponsored, after so many years, we had become a real family. To him, they weren't just potential sons-in-law; they were the sons he never had.

He had long ago declared in his will that after my wedding, the other man would receive a large portion of company shares. The three of us would manage the business together, remaining a family forever. In addition, my father had added a supplementary clause: if anything were to happen to me, all family assets would be donated to charity.

Whether for emotional or financial reasons, they had no motive to harm me. That's why I couldn't figure it out. What could possibly drive them to give up billions in assets, to commit murder, and to treat me with such viciousness?

It wasn't just me who couldn't make sense of it; my parents were also burning with anxiety.

"Juliet's 25th birthday is in three days. With you two acting like this... we can't just pull someone off the street for her to marry. This is her entire life we're talking about!" my mother said, wiping away her tears.

The women of our family must marry by the age of 25. It was a family rule.

My father tried one last time, but no matter how he pressed, Jasper and Caleb remained silent. I was even more bewildered, unable to utter a single word.

The stalemate lasted for a long time before my father's breathing suddenly became ragged. He had a history of heart problems, and his doctor had warned him against any strong emotional distress.

He pointed a finger at the three of us and said bitterly, "You're all trying to be the death of me!"

As soon as the words left his mouth, he collapsed backward.

"Dad!"

We could no longer care about anything else. In a flurry of motion, we rushed my father to the hospital. Just as the door to the VIP room closed, Jasper suddenly grabbed my hand.

Chapter 3

Half his body was cloaked in the hallway's shadows, his expression unreadable, but the sweat on his palm betrayed his inner panic.

After a long, conflicted silence, as if he'd made a monumental decision, Jasper finally spoke. "Do you know why the Henson heir has to get married on their 25th birthday?"

Hearing this, Caleb strode over from behind us and stood between us, his eyes filled with both worry and fear.

"Jasper, we agreed, we can't—" Caleb shot me a look of lingering dread, then swallowed the rest of his words.

My mind clouded with even more suspicion. Could their killing me and refusing the marriage all be related to this mysterious wedding?

But the family had always been secretive about it, only saying it was related to the continuation and glory of the entire family. They believed that only by completing the ceremony and continuing the bloodline could one gain the family's true recognition, which was why this ironclad rule was established. However, there were exceptions. If someone was truly determined not to comply, there were no substantial punishments. Although they couldn't inherit the core businesses, they could still live a life of luxury on the family trust fund. A distant aunt of mine remains unmarried to this day, living an enviably carefree life in Europe.

There was no way Jasper and Caleb didn't know these things. Why were they asking me this?

Seeing the conflict and pain in their eyes, I let out a heavy sigh. "Jasper, Caleb, we've lived together for so many years. Is there anything we can't face together? Are you... going to kill me again?"

This was my third life. I didn't care about dying one more time; I just wanted an answer.

At my words, both men's breath hitched, their eyes filling with anguish.

The silence stretched, heavy and cold. My hope dwindled with each passing second.

In the past, whenever I was this upset, Jasper would gently stroke my hair, soothing me with his deep voice and solving all my problems. Caleb would make funny faces, trying every trick in the book to cheer me up. The countless moments we had spent together had made me see them as my lifelong partners. I couldn't reconcile the men standing before me with the murderers from my past lives.

I believed they had their reasons, that they had no other choice. I just wanted an answer.

Under my persistent gaze, Jasper's expression seemed to soften. He turned to Caleb, silently seeking his consent.

Just as they were about to speak, my mother suddenly appeared, cutting them off.
