Chapter 2
At the VIP parking waiting area of the "International Arrivals" section at JFK Airport, Felicity stepped out of her Aston Martin with elegance. She noticed several scattered reporters nearby, waiting for the headline figure of the day.
On the way here, she had already heard the excited broadcasts from various car radios reporting today's top news:
"Pianist Eden Ortiz Returns After Six Years Abroad — Will She Rekindle Her Romance with Billionaire CEO Kayden Miller?"
How ironic. The media didn't even care about the fact that Kayden was already married. They only cared about creating explosive headlines that would attract attention.
With a cold expression, Felicity put on the sunglasses she had taken from her pocket. The sharp, tailored suit perfectly highlighted her capable aura and tall figure. A few reporters even cautiously wondered whether she was some mysterious model who rarely appeared in public.
She ignored the whispers and casually leaned against her car, looking no different from the other people waiting to pick someone up. The submissive and humble aura of a housewife was completely gone from her.
From now on, she would no longer be the once obedient and lowly Mrs. Miller.
Soon, the door to the VIP arrival passage slid open. Eden walked out gracefully with cat-like steps. One hand naturally hooked around Kayden's arm, who was a head taller than her, while the other held her approximately five-year-old son, Noah Ortiz. Every movement seemed carefully designed.
Every media outlet wanted to capture today's biggest headline and boost their own performance. They immediately rushed toward the three of them, and flashes erupted one after another in front of them.
Dressed in a white gown, Eden instantly looked like a startled little rabbit. She released Kayden with a frightened expression and turned to protect Noah, who stood beside her. At the same time, Kayden's protective instincts were triggered by her reaction, and he immediately turned around to shield the mother and son behind him.
Only Felicity, standing in the distance, clearly saw the calculating expression hidden beneath Eden's act. She waited until she confirmed that everything had been captured by the cameras before pretending to dodge away.
Amid the chaos, she received the divorce documents delivered by the courier. She quickly checked the contents and smiled with satisfaction.
Amid the sea of reporters, a young and clear voice suddenly rang out.
"Dad!"
The reporters all gasped in varying degrees of shock. They had originally thought that the crowd blocking the scene would prevent them from capturing anything useful, but now they began frantically pressing their camera shutters, desperate to permanently capture this moment.
Kayden's normally composed expression also froze slightly.
Eden quickly straightened up, gently tugged on Kayden's sleeve, and explained with a soft smile filled with affection, "Noah is still young and doesn't understand things. He hears me mention you all the time, Kayden, so he probably mistook you for his father."
Kayden's expression gradually softened. He accepted her explanation without asking further questions. He bent down, patted Noah's head, and spoke gently. "Good boy, Noah. Let's go home."
The airport security gradually controlled the reporters and kept them at an appropriate distance. Kayden and the others were then able to walk toward the Rolls-Royce waiting for the Miller family.
At that moment, Felicity removed her sunglasses. Holding the drafted divorce agreement in her hand, she walked toward them while clapping sarcastically.
"Welcome, Kayden's long-distance... friend." Felicity's voice successfully attracted everyone's attention, including those flashing "eyes" of the cameras.
Eden subtly pulled Noah one step behind Kayden, while Kayden also extended one arm protectively, as if Felicity might do something extreme the next second.
Kayden frowned, his tone filled with accusation.
"You really came? Didn't I tell you to stay home and prepare everything for their welcome?"
Felicity looked directly at Kayden, completely ignoring Eden's presence. She raised one eyebrow in disdain.
"I'm here to announce something..." She slightly turned her head and glanced at the surrounding reporters. "Something important that everyone here should know."
Kayden suddenly had a bad feeling. He stepped forward and firmly grabbed Felicity's arm, looking at her seriously.
"Whatever it is, we'll talk about it at home. Not here."
As he spoke, he glanced toward the reporters nearby who were watching with interest.
Eden seized the opportunity and stepped forward as well. She held onto Kayden's arm, pretending to mediate, her voice filled with grievance. "It's my fault. I shouldn't have told you about my return and caused Mrs. Miller to be upset. Maybe Noah and I should just leave immediately."
Kayden immediately grabbed Eden's hand before she could pull away. Then he turned back and looked at Felicity with anger. "Felicity, enough. Eden and Noah just got off the plane after a long journey. As Mrs. Miller, you should be welcoming my friend properly."
Friend?
When the two of them stood there so close, with a child between them, they looked far more like a family than she, the real Mrs. Miller, ever did.
Kayden's baseless favoritism only confirmed to Felicity that the six-year marriage she had cherished so deeply was nothing but a complete joke.
Felicity let out a helpless, bitter laugh. She pulled her arm away from Kayden's grip and raised the document in her hand, her voice surprisingly calm.
"Kayden Miller, let's get divorced."
Her voice was not loud, but it was more than enough for the reporters nearby to hear. To capture two explosive pieces of news about this business tycoon in a single day, they could hardly contain their excitement.
But Kayden, who had always valued the Miller family's reputation, only felt disbelief. The woman who used to spend her days studying flowers and plants in the manor had actually said these words in front of so many people.
He decided to give this woman one more chance, and also give himself a chance to save his dignity.
Kayden forced out a smile, his tone carrying a warning.
"What did you say? Felicity, don't disgrace the Miller family in a place like this."
"I said, I. Want. A. Divorce."
This time, Felicity's voice was even clearer and more resolute.
The few people standing there in confrontation could clearly feel the reporters beside them becoming increasingly excited.
Before Kayden could take another step forward and grab Felicity to demand an explanation, she directly pressed the drafted divorce agreement against his chest. Then she turned around confidently, put her sunglasses back on, walked two steps forward, opened the car door, and got into the Aston Martin. The roar of the engine shattered the silence. All that remained was the dust swept up by the force of the departing car.
Kayden tightened his grip on the document that had slid down from his chest, staring coldly at the disappearing rear of the Aston Martin.
In the front mirror of the Aston Martin, Felicity's face showed a relieved smile.
Her hand skillfully reached for the car's built-in phone, and Sienna answered almost instantly.
"Sienna, I need you to help me with something."
Chapter 3
Felicity drove straight to the penthouse apartment she had purchased before marriage. On the way back, she asked Sienna to arrange for someone to pick up Leo after his extracurricular class.
There was also one matter she needed to confirm.
When Felicity opened the apartment door, the document Sienna had just sent arrived on her phone.
"Mommy!"
A cute little figure appeared from behind the door, opening his small arms wide toward Felicity.
The heart that had hardened while facing everything at the airport instantly softened. Felicity stepped into the apartment and bent down to accept Leo's hug. Her warm cheek pressed against his soft, childlike face.
The warmth of life gave Felicity an indescribable sense of relief. She felt the moisture gathering in the corners of her eyes and quietly sniffed, forcing herself to hold back her emotions.
There was a maturity on Leo's face that did not belong to a child his age. He frowned slightly as he noticed the unusual emotions coming from his mother.
"Mommy, the person who brought me here already told me. You're divorcing that cold-blooded animal in the big house, right?"
In reality, Leo had intercepted Felicity's call records himself, but he decided to phrase it in a more indirect way.
Felicity froze slightly. She didn't expect Sienna to tell Leo about this.
Leo immediately added, "We usually go back to that big house, don't we?"
The explanation made sense easily. Leo was still so young, and it was only natural that he wouldn't understand the reason behind a separation and would ask Sienna about it.
Looking at Leo's quiet and mature expression, Felicity suddenly felt that he was a child who had been forced to grow up too early. A wave of guilt rose in her heart.
She hugged him tighter, her voice carrying a barely noticeable tremble. "I'm sorry, Leo. I couldn't give you a happy family."
Leo reached up and gently stroked the back of her head, comforting her. "It's okay, Mommy. I never liked Kayden anyway, because I could see that he wasn't good to you."
Those words caught the emotion that had been stuck in Felicity's throat. She looked at Leo gently and held his little face in her hands.
"Thank you, my baby."
A child who was not even six years old could already see the truth clearly, while she had spent the past six years unable to see it.
After a wave of helplessness unlike anything she had ever felt, Felicity looked around the clean and tidy apartment, and for the first time, an overwhelming sense of relief and freedom filled her heart.
Felicity's phone screen suddenly lit up. The unread document notification was still displayed. She unlocked her phone, and her expression immediately became focused.
Leo also curiously leaned closer to look. Felicity noticed it, but she had no intention of hiding it from him. She believed Leo had the right to know as well.
The encrypted file was unlocked after Felicity entered Leo's birthday. Her eyes immediately skipped over the complicated data comparisons and landed directly on the conclusion stamped by the authoritative DNA testing institution.
"Based on the analysis, Kayden Miller is excluded as the biological father of the child, Leo."
Although Felicity had already learned this truth in her previous life, the moment she saw it officially confirmed, her heart still trembled uncontrollably.
Eden had not lied. Leo truly was not Kayden's child.
Then whose child was Leo?
After seeing the result, Leo was only briefly surprised. Then he showed an expression that seemed to say, "I knew it," and silently memorized the name of the DNA testing institution.
When Felicity noticed that the gaze beside her had shifted away, she assumed Leo could not accept the truth and hurriedly turned around, wanting to comfort him.
But what she saw was Leo calmly walking toward the laptop that had been placed open on the dining table. His fingers moved quickly across the keyboard, and a look of admiration appeared on his face.
"Mommy, this testing institution is highly confidential and reliable. I already deleted all traces of your submission."
Felicity finally relaxed. Ever since Leo learned to read at the age of three, he had started playing with numbers and technology. By the time he was tall enough to reach the computer keyboard on the desk, he had already become extremely skilled at using code.
Although Felicity didn't fully understand the things Leo was doing, she knew one thing clearly. Leo would always use his abilities to protect her in the best way possible.
Leo continued focusing on the computer, which sparked Felicity's curiosity. She stepped closer to take a look, and a striking logo with a black-and-red design caught her attention.
"LOVELESS."
That was the name of the high-end custom fashion brand she had founded under her own name before marriage. A dream she had buried for a long time.
Leo deliberately scrolled through the page quickly in front of Felicity, allowing the design sketches from the past, each one created with her time, effort, and irreplaceable inspiration, to smoothly appear across the website homepage.
"I rebuilt your brand's official website and registered all the social media accounts," Leo said, lifting his small face as if waiting for praise. "It's time for 'M' to come back."
"M" was the name Felicity used as a designer.
The design sketches glowing on the screen reflected in Felicity's eyes, like sparks of hope coming back to life. She reached out and gently patted Leo's head as a reward.
"Thank you, my little genius."
