Chapter 1

I was a washed-up singer, but my wife forced me to attend a divorce variety show.

I tried my best to earn money for the family, but on the show, she said that I was worthless. She even got to know the son of an affluent family.

She called the guy babe and went to his room whilst wearing seductive clothes.

I couldn't stand it anymore and tried to stop her, but she cursed, "You're just a useless piece of garbage! You can't even afford to buy me a decent bag. I thought your earnings would improve over the years, but your earnings are still nowhere near enough. Why can't I pursue the happiness I want? Get out of my sight!"

I couldn't believe that my wife, Shannon West, would say such words.

We had been married for 10 years. I performed as much as I could to earn money for her and our family, but all she thought was that I wasn't making enough.

The son of an affluent family, Rick Jones, walked forward and wrapped his arm around her shoulders as he looked at me disdainfully. "You heard what your wife said, useless piece of trash! If I were you, I'd just commit suicide. There's no way that I'd have the guts to come on the show."

After hearing those words, Shannon nodded in agreement whilst being in Rick's arms.

I looked at Shannon and felt that she was no longer the person I knew.

She used to be willing to live in a rented house with me and to thank her for supporting me, I would give her all the money that I earned.

Over the past couple of years, whenever I needed money, I would have to ask her, but she would always scold me for doing so.

"Why do you need money again? You don't earn much and you still have to spend so much money? How are we going to improve our lives? You can forget about getting any money from me. If you need money then go earn some yourself!"

I thought that she was doing this to control our spending, so I would never lose my temper. Instead, I would work even harder to earn money.

I bought her a house in Imperium and a slick sports car, and I even hired two servants to help her out with the house chores.

I thought we would live happily ever after, but I didn't expect her to tell me to go on a divorce variety show a month ago.

She said it was for me to gain publicity, so I went along.

What I didn't expect was that she had turned completely into a different person once on the show.

She immediately curry favored Rick, the son of an affluent family, as soon as she went on the show. She would even go to his room whilst wearing seductive clothes as well.

I told her that I was upset about her doing so, but she said that I was making a fuss. "Don't you know how to make the show more interesting? No wonder you're still not a famous celebrity after so many years. You're just an inconsiderate fool!"

But today, I accidentally walked into a room and saw the two of them hugging and kissing.

When they saw me, they stopped pretending.

I was about to retort, but that was when the director of the variety show said, "Get ready to start the shoot."

The next second, Shannon wrapped her arms around mine and leaned her head on my shoulder with a sweet smile.

She then said passionately in front of the camera, "I really love my husband. No one in the world would love him more than me."

The disdainful look she just had whilst scolding me had disappeared.

Rick played along and sighed. "I think they're not here to talk about their divorce. They look like they're here for a honeymoon."

I only felt disgusted. I furrowed my brows and pulled my arm out from Shannon's embrace.

What I didn't expect was that Shannon immediately looked like she was going to cry. She then said to the camera, "You see? My husband and I are like this at home as well. I gave him all my love, but he still seemed to ignore me. Sometimes, I get the feeling that he doesn't love me at all, so all I can do is try to please him the best I can."

I couldn't stand her anymore, so I stood up and pointed at her. "That's not what happened. You're the one who decided to be with Rick. Why put on an act now?"

Chapter 2

Rick's face immediately darkened and he quickly stood up.

"You're a useless piece of trash who can't become famous. Some things should be kept a secret, how dare you say it on the show? Do you think you'll no longer be a trash by telling everyone about it? Do you think you're the hero now?"

Shannon crossed her arms and snorted. "James Clinton, I gave you a chance, but you ignored it. You're the one who's useless. What right do you have to pin the blame on me?"

Looking at the two of them being on the same side, I sneered. "You've truly surprised me. Are you not going to keep things a secret anymore?"

I looked at Rick, who was at the side. His wife, Christine's face turned pale.

"Are you looking for a beating?"

Rick suddenly threw a glass on the ground, walked over to grab my collar, and punched me in the face.

I had no time to react at all. Just when I realized what was going on and was about to fight back, Christine suddenly grabbed my hand. "Let's start this argument. We're still on the show, the cameras are still recording."

After hearing those words, Rick calmed a little. He let go of me and patted down his clothes.

When he returned to his seat, he glared at me and then spat a mouthful of saliva on the ground.

I wasn't going to let things go. Just as I was about to walk over to reason with him, Christine quickly grabbed me and shook her head slightly. She seemed to be begging me not to do so.

I decided to let things go and turned to head back to my seat.

Shannon rolled her eyes and cursed quietly, "Useless fool!"

The makeup artist seemed to be used to this kind of situation, so she walked over and used makeup to cover the bruise on my face.

The director then said, "Quiet everyone. Let's continue the shoot."

Shannon did the same as before and leaned towards me passionately. However, there was a disdainful look in her eyes.

I forced myself not to be disgusted and completed the shoot.

After the shoot, Shannon became even bolder.

She went back to our room, packed up her things, and moved them all to Rick's room.

She became bolder and bolder over the next couple of days.

There was even one time when they occupied the set's equipment room. The director knocked on the door for quite a while saying that he needed the cameras inside.

Only a while later did the two of them walk out of the room with their clothes being in a mess.

I recorded evidence that Shannon had cheated on me and sent them to my lawyer, asking him to draft a divorce agreement for me. I was planning on getting Shannon to sign the agreement after the recording of the show had ended.

On the last day of the recording, it was the stage where the guests decided whether to get a divorce or not.

The script that Shannon and I were given was not to divorce. The director told me that if I didn't do what the script said, I would have to pay a huge amount of liquidation fees.

Therefore, even if I was disgusted, I still followed the script.

I looked at Shannon, whose eyes were filled with disdain, forced myself to not be disgusted, and said, "Honey, I'll love you for the rest of my life."

As for Shannon, she walked towards me and hugged me. "I love you, honey."

It was an absurd scene.

Shannon's lover, Rick, watched from the side. But Shannon and I still had to act as if we really loved each other.

The recording had ended. What was left was the editing part.

Shannon then showed her true colors. She first threw me a divorce agreement. "Your pitiful look disgusts me. How could I have been so blind to a useless fool like you?"

I sneered and looked through the divorce agreement.

It stated that I should give the car and the house, and she should have possession of all my music copyrights.

"Shannon, is your head on straight? You're the one who's cheated on me. How dare you ask me to divorce and leave without a penny?"

"You've wasted so many years of my youth, can I not ask for you to compensate me?"

Chapter 3

I sneered. "Why should I? Did I ever let you suffer over the years? I've spent all the money that I've earned on you. What right do you have to say such things? If I hadn't spent all my money on you and let you live a comfortable life, how could you have gotten to know Rick?"

Maybe because I had exposed what she did, her eyes widened. "Nonsense! You have to sign this divorce agreement no matter what or I'll get Rick's family's legal team to sue you! I'd like to see who gets the last laugh."

"Go ahead." I sneered. "Do you think Rick truly loves you?"

"What do you think?" she glared at me and asked.

I felt it was amusing that Shannon still didn't know what was going on. She still thought that she was living in a fairy tale. She was truly a fool.

"You're just one of the many women around him. Do you know why he chose you?" I looked Shannon in the eyes and continued, "That's because you easily fall for him and are willing to sleep with him. All he has to do is hook his fingers and you'll be willing to throw yourself on his bed completely naked. To put it bluntly, you're just a lowlife!"

After hearing those words, Shannon's face became fierce.

She probably knew what I said was true, but didn't want to admit it. "Nonsense!"

She lifted her hands and walked towards me in an attempt to scratch me, but I stopped her with one hand.

I dragged her to the door and threw her out.

"James, you wretch! I'm going to rip you into pieces!"

"Instead of making a fuss in front of me, why don't you go and cause a scene in front of Rick? You might be given a status if you do that. However, for a shameless woman like you, he'll treat you as a mistress at the most. You'll be kept hidden all your life as you wait for his love. As for him, he'll soon meet someone else and won't even take another at you."

With that said, I slammed the door shut.

Shannon shouted and slammed the door from the outside, but she couldn't retort at all.

That was because she knew what I said was true.

After Shannon had left, I received the divorce agreement my lawyer drafted for me.

However, it wasn't the best time to sue her right now.

Before the end of the recording, we had all signed a confidentiality agreement. If I sued her, I would breach the contract. If that happened, I would have to pay a huge liquidation fee.

It wasn't worth it just to divorce someone like Shannon.

For the next couple of days, Shannon really didn't come and cause a scene.

I wondered if she had truly listened to what I said.

However, what I knew was that Rick and Christine would never get a divorce.

Their marriage was an alliance between affluent families. There were a lot of benefits involved. Only an idiot like Shannon would get herself involved in such a complicated relationship.

She would definitely end up in a horrible situation.

As for Christine, I didn't talk to her much on the show. The only impression I had of her was when she stopped me from getting into a fight with Rick.

I felt sorry for her, but she could endure Rick's actions meant that she knew what she was doing.

After a few quiet days, my mother-in-law, Lauren Lowe, suddenly came to find me.

Seeing that she still treated me like before, I knew that Shannon hadn't told her that she had found herself another sugar daddy.

From the fact that Shannon's whole family were gold diggers, Lauren would have desperately wanted to become Rick's mother-in-law.

Of course, I didn't expose what Shannon did. Instead, I asked straightforwardly, "What are you doing here?"

Lauren frowned. She was obviously unhappy. "Watch that attitude of yours. My daughter has been pregnant for over 12 weeks. Can't I come to visit her?"
