Chapter 3
From childhood to adulthood, Matthew had always wanted to surpass me in all aspects. He liked to be better than me in academics. He snatched my awards away in competitions... Natalya's efforts to save him were based on such a mentality, that was, he wanted to crush me in all aspects.
"So, the girl I like must be his."
"All of this is because my father used to be his father's superior, which embarrassed him in front of his classmates."
Natalya had a secret crush on Matthew in college. The two of them broke up and got back together countless times. And I was Natalya's loyal follower, flattering her from college until now.
In the seventh year of our marriage, Natalya rekindled her passion with Matthew, her first love, who had abandoned her eighteen times.
She used her family's money to subsidize her destitute first love. She went out dancing with him every night, ignoring Linda.
As a result, Linda became mildly autistic. She had to go to the hospital regularly for psychological counseling.
Although I loved Natalya, I couldn't tolerate such a big betrayal. Nor can I let her hurt Linda. I decided to divorce her.
But she refused to sign the divorce document. She kept saying that she couldn't divorce me for the sake of the child.
I was afraid that my young daughter couldn't handle it for a while, so we were in a deadlock.
Later, the evidence showing how we had been passionate once became a weapon to harm me.
Matthew secretly stole the diamond ring I had given to Natalya. He went to auction it.
After I caught him red-handed, Matthew made a scene in front of Natalya.
Natalya indulgently said that Matthew could do with the ring whatever he wanted, saying that she could compensate me with another one.
So, in front of me, Matthew threw my diamond ring from the top floor of the company.
To buy a diamond ring that could satisfy my beautiful and rich wife, I used to work throughout day and night. My heart often ached.
As the diamond ring was thrown away, I felt like Natalya had grabbed my heart and kicked it away.
I gradually gave up on Natalya. I found a lawyer to draft a divorce agreement, but I hadn't found a suitable opportunity to ask her for a divorce.
Originally, I planned to divorce her after Linda's birthday.
Now, our divorce agreement was hidden in the burning room, waiting for her to sign it. It should have turned into ashes by now.
Chapter 4
After Natalya hung up Kate's call, I floated to Kate's place based on my feelings.
Kate and Libby, my sister, were standing in a funeral hall, each holding a box of ashes and crying uncontrollably.
I was anxiously pacing around them. Intending to comfort them, I was powerless.
Libby asked Kate angrily, "Have you contacted that bitch, Natalya?"
Kate shook her head, saying with suppressed anger in her tone, "No. She no longer answered my call later. I don't know where she went with Matthew."
Libby cursed angrily, saying, "In high school, she made Asher her loyal follower for three years. In college, she would go after Asher every time Matthew dumped her. Finally, they got married. She was as shameless as ever. Now that Asher and Linda are dead. Is she satisfied?"
The other relatives in the funeral parlor quickly changed the topic, saying that the police had intervened. the killer who had harmed me and Linda would be caught soon.
Libby finally calmed down a bit, but she couldn't stop crying.
The next day, Libby failed to reach Natalya.
She suppressed her anger and came to the seaside with my mother. Holding my ashes box, they slowly scattered my ashes into the sea.
After it was done, Libby sat by the seaside and burst into tears. I looked at her with heartache. I couldn't touch her head and comfort her like before.
I couldn't bear to continue watching. Then I drifted back to Natalya's side.
Natalya had been discharged from the hospital. She was choosing a cake with Matthew.
"Matthew, do you think Linda will forgive me?" Natalya picked up a huge strawberry cake.
Being careful with her actions, she sounded anxious.
Matthew sighed deeply, saying, "Natalya, Linda is not your biological daughter. You don't have to please her like this."
I was shocked by his words. "How come Linda is not Natalya's daughter?"
"How is this possible? I only had Natalya as my woman!"
"Linda was born from Natalya's ten months of pregnancy. I saw it with my own eyes!"
Natalya sighed, saying, "I was sad when I found out the truth. It turns out that Asher has never loved me."
"At that time, I had fallen in love with Asher. I didn't want to divorce him."
"Now, I keep in touch with you just to make him jealous."
Matthew was embarrassed.
"I watched Linda grow up. Even though she is Libby Shawn's daughter, I treat her as my adopted daughter."
I was dumbfounded. Seeing Matthew embracing Natalya, I couldn't bother to be angry anymore.
"Libby Shawn is my younger sister!"
"How could they have such a big misunderstanding against me?"
"No wonder Natalya has always disliked Libby. No wonder she is not concerned about Linda."
Matthew said with concern, "He doesn't love you at all. He loves your money. You should have divorced him!"
Natalya thought of something sad, and her eyes turned red.
"Don't mention this again. I won't divorce him until I find my biological daughter."
"I still love Asher, let alone the fact that I want to give my biological daughter a happy family!"
"If ghosts could shed tears, I would be in tears now."
"Linda! This is your good mother you have been thinking about every day! She doesn't treat you as her daughter at all."
"She's a fool! She believes whatever others say!"
"She keeps saying she loves me, but she doesn't believe me at all."
At this moment, watching Matthew tightly embrace Natalya, who was crying, I calmed down suddenly.
I was not jealous or sad anymore.
"After all, she's not worth it."
"Perhaps, this is what it feels like to not love somebody."
"Unfortunately, I only see through the reality after I die."
I watched Natalya buy a cake and walk towards home.
Chapter 5
Natalya only realized that the entire building was surrounded when she reached the doorstep.
A group of people nearby were discussing the incident.
"I heard that the 18th floor was on fire. A father and a daughter had jumped from there."
"What kind of state would they be in since they fell from the 18th floor?"
Natalya's face turned pale.
She suddenly grabbed the passerby, who was speaking.
"Which floor did you say? A father and a daughter jumped down?"
The passerby said confidently, "Yes! It was the 18th floor!"
There were only two households on the 18th floor. One was mine and Linda's, and the other one lived an old lady.
So, it was me and Linda who had jumped off the building.
Natalya trembled as she called Kate.
"Mom, did Asher have an accident?"
Kate fell silent over the phone.
"Come over and see him for the last time."
Natalya hung up the call and rushed to the location according to my mother's instructions. Matthew didn't catch up with her.
Seeing her anxious look, I thought she would be in great pain after knowing that I was dead.
I didn't expect that Natalya would calm down after she arrived at my memorial hall.
