Chapter 1

Fergus Ricci called me when I was going home after the party.

"Where did you go tonight?" His tone was frighteningly calm.

He disliked me going to such occasions, and the consequences of the last time were still fresh in my mind.

Thus, I lied, saying that I went to my parents' house.

He was silent for a while, then chuckled.

"I think we need to start living together."

I felt that he was threatening me.

"Wait for me at home, and I'll come to you now."

Having finished speaking, he hung up the phone.

I had an intuition that it would be terrible if we lived together.

During this time, I could clearly feel that something was wrong with him.

He became more impulsive, irritable, and controlling.

It was vastly different from his previous gentle and humble character.

I was afraid he would do something out of line.

Thus, I hurried back to my room and packed my clothes.

He needed to calm down for a while. If I got caught by him, something awful would happen to me.

While packing, I called Doris, my best friend.

"Honey, are you home? I want to stay at your home for a few days."

She asked me in surprise, "Now?"

"Yes, right now."

"Yet, I'm not in Azure City right now. You sound so anxious. What happened?"

I had no time to explain to her, so I said goodbye in a hurry and then hung up the phone.

Picking up my luggage, I checked my ID and bank card.

I went downstairs and took a taxi to the best hotel in Azure City.

In my view, even if he knew I was here, he couldn't find which room I was in.

Besides, I had confidence in the security of this hotel.

After getting off the bus, I walked quickly into the lobby, carrying my luggage.

I quickly checked in and asked carefully before leaving, "Will the guest's information and room number be leaked at will?"

The girl at the front desk explained with a smile, "It's impossible! Don't worry, and it will never happen."

After getting the answer I wanted, I breathed a sigh of relief.

As I arrived at the room, the room number on the door caught my attention as I opened it.

It was 1215.

Coincidentally, the number matched my birthday.

In the room, I lay on the soft bed and let out a breath.

How dramatic it was!

Fergus was so scary recently in every aspect.

He was clinging to me during this time, but before that, he had been quite sensible.

I remembered he was trapped in my house in a rainstorm.

At that moment, I asked him to stay in my guest room for one night, but he refused, saying it was inappropriate.

Grabbing an umbrella, he rushed into the wind and rain, disappearing without a trace, and I could not stop him.

But now, sticking to each other every day couldn't satisfy him.

It made me feel suffocated.

Ding!

Suddenly, I received text messages, and they were from Fergus.

[Where are you?]

[You don't take my words seriously again.]

[You're hiding from me.]

[Why are you hiding from me?]

His messages popped up on my phone one after another.

I held my forehead and wondered how to reply to him.

When I was thinking, the screen was already filled with questions from him.

I replied: [Calm down.]

He sent another message: [You are the one who should calm down. I love you so much, but you want to run away from me. I don't understand.]

I had no idea how to explain it to him.

In the end, I had to reply to him: [We'll talk when you calm down.]

After replying, I turn off your phone.

I was afraid that he would call me non-stop.

After turning off my phone, I started to feel bored and slowly fell asleep.

In a trance, I suddenly heard someone knocking on the door.

I opened my eyes, and the room was dark.

It shouldn't be daybreak yet.

The knocking sounds at the door became more and more rapid.

I was startled because the hotel staff wouldn't knock on my door in the middle of the night.

I tiptoed to the door, looking out through the peephole.

It was Fergus.

"Oh my. It's done for! How did he find the place?" I thought to myself.

The hotel was unreliable.

He was outside the door, wearing the khaki windbreaker I bought for him.

At that time, I felt that it was very suitable for him.

But now, the man outside the door had deep eyes and a powerful aura.

Under such circumstances, the coat seemed to be quite out of place with him.

With a bottle of water in his hand, he knocked on the door, but there was no response.

He shook the bottle of water impatiently.

He then raised his hand and knocked on the door again.

Chapter 2

I pressed my face against the door and then shivered with fear.

"You open the door, or I go in."

I was frightened by the look of him.

I asked timidly, "Is there any difference?"

He chuckled, saying gently, "Bess, of course, there is a difference.

"If you open the door now, let's go back to your house and talk.

"If I go in, then we can only go to my house and talk."

I remained silent, thinking that he was lying.

I was not that stupid.

Besides, I didn't think he could get in.

I just guessed that he was able to find me because he secretly left a locator on me.

Yet, he might not have a room card.

Back to my bed, I turned on my phone.

I contacted hotel staff and tried to get security to get the guy outside the door away.

When the call was connected, I quickly explained the situation.

The staff promised to come immediately within five minutes.

At this time, he continued to threaten me outside the door.

"I heard you calling. This is your choice, and don't regret it." His voice was cold.

After a while, the sound of footsteps of many people was heard in the corridor.

I pressed my ear against the door and listened to the sounds outside.

There were no expected conflicts.

The security personnel greeted Fergus with great respect.

"Mr. Ricci, why are you here?"

"Mr. Ricci? What Mr. Ricci?

Did he own the hotel?" I wondered.

I dispelled the idea later because he told me before that he came from an ordinary family!

He never told me about it.

Damn it! I found that I got cheated.

I felt disappointed, and my fists were clenched.

"Give me the room card."

The door opened with a click.

Instantly, the cold air rushed into the room.

After coming in, he quickly closed the door and locked it.

I leaned against the wall, not daring to move or look at him.

The moment he came in, I was deflated.

Fergus took off his windbreaker and threw it on the bed.

The terrible scene I had imagined did not happen.

He stood in front of me and stared at me.

"Why aren't you wearing shoes?" Fergus said gently.

I muttered quietly, "I was scared by you."

He found the slippers and bent down to put them on me.

"Are you scared by me?

"Take it easy. Otherwise, wouldn't you be even more scared then?"

My heart sank when I heard this.

"What... What do you mean?" I was so nervous that I stuttered.

It turned out that he was such a scary person.

He was controlling and irritable, which was unbearable for any normal person.

The one I had pursued was the gentle and sweet boyfriend.

He didn't respond but pulled a stool and sat in front of me.

The water bottle was placed at his feet.

"Where did you go tonight?"

He crossed his legs, tapping his fingers on his legs.

His eyes were fixed on me.

I was quickly thinking about how to lie about lying.

But after thinking about it, I feel there was no way to turn the situation around.

So, I just told the truth.

Pretending to be calm, I replied, "I went to a class reunion. What's wrong?"

"Didn't you say you went back to your parents' house? Why did you lie to me?" he pressed on.

I wondered why he knew it clearly but kept asking.

"Don't you know why I lied? Isn't it because I'm afraid you'll be angry?

"I still remember clearly what happened after you caught me at the last party."

He stared at me without uttering a word and gave me a meaningful look.

Then he sighed. "You can't do this..."

While speaking, he picked up the bottle of water from his feet and handed it to me.

"Drink it, and I'll take you away."

I stiffened for a moment.

I had no idea what he meant.

In the past, I dated various boys but never met a crazy like him.

"What is this?" I asked cautiously, glancing at the bottle of water.

He sneered in surprise. "What else could it be? Just water. You must have drunk alcohol at the party. Drinking some water will make your stomach feel better when you're in the car later."

Chapter 3

I took the water dubiously and took a sip.

"Drink it!"

Fergus' sudden scolding scared me so much that I shivered. The water then poured into my throat, choking me and making me cough repeatedly.

After I drank it, he suddenly gave me an ambiguous smile.

"That's right."

He patted his leg.

"Come sit here."

I sat there stiffly.

He held me in his arms and patted my back slowly.

After a while, I started to feel dizzy.

Before I completely fainted, I heard Fergus' voice.

"Don't rely on luck."

When I woke up again, everything was dark.

There was an arm pressing against my chest. I could feel the breath beside me and the faint smell of perfume.

I immediately realized that the person next to me was Fergus.

In the darkness, I vaguely saw the furnishings around me that were something I had never seen before.

I raised his arm and carefully moved out.

As I tried to get out of bed quietly, my limbs became so weak that I fell under the bed.

Fergus' faint voice came over. "Are you awake? Where do you want to go?"

"Well... nothing. I just need to pee. Right, I need to pee."

He stood up and turned on the light, looking at me with sleepy eyes.

"There is a bathroom on the left outside the door. Go ahead and come back early."

After saying that, he lay down again as if he were very sleepy.

I opened the door and then turned on the light in the corridor.

After opening it, I was surprised. It was indeed a decoration for rich people.

Coming out of the bathroom, I couldn't help but feel curious about my surroundings.

Obviously, it was not the house that Fergus took me to before.

After the visit, I returned to the bedroom.

Fergus seemed to be sleeping soundly.

I started looking for my phone on the bedside table.

"Stop searching. Your phone is here with me.

"I won't give it to you. If you want to check the time, there's a clock on the wall." His voice was a little hoarse.

I was stunned and wondered what he meant.

Kneeling beside him, I asked him, "What do you mean?"

He turned over and took my hand to rub it.

"What can I mean? I just want you to get away from the dangerous outside world."

I yanked my hand away. "I don't understand what you mean. I just want to go home."

The next moment, I got up and went to find my clothes, wanting to leave.

Fergus sat up, holding his chin and looking at me, with a relaxed feeling as if everything were under control.

"Do you know what the password is? Then how do you get out of this place?

"Bess, you're so naive. Don't rely on luck again. You know what? The current situation is just as you think.

"You already have the answer in your mind, don't you?"

I paused for a while as I put on my clothes.

"You are imprisoning me!"

"Yeah," he said casually.

After that, he lay down again and patted the place beside him.

"Come here quickly and sleep with me for a while."

I found it strange, so I didn't listen to him but turned around and rushed out of the room.

After turns and twists, I found the exit of the house.

I twisted the handle in disbelief, finding that he really wasn't lying.

Feeling angry, I started looking for tools in the house to pry open the door.

Soon, the loud noise attracted Fergus.

His pajamas were messy, and he stood in the corner with his arms crossed, staring at me with an unhappy look.

"Bess, I'm still angry about what happened yesterday. How can you do it again?"

I retorted, "What am I doing? I really can't stand you now.

"You weren't like this before.

"You're so controlling that it makes me feel suffocated."

As I finished speaking, Fergus' face darkened.

To be honest, I was scared.

I kept talking, "I don't know what caused you to become like this, but I think we may not be suitable for each other anymore.

"So, let's break up. Give me the keys, and I'll leave."

I was decisive at this time.

Obviously, he couldn't tolerate it.

He came up to me quickly, and I had no time to escape.

He pulled me by the hand and led me into the bedroom. I pushed back and tried to break free.

"Fergus, what are you doing? Don't be crazy. We have broken up."
