Chapter 3

After seeing the message he sent me, I did not want to go at first, but thinking about what I said to my mother last night, I went anyway.

It was a fast food restaurant not far from his company.

As soon as I sat down, I heard him ask, “Is a relative of yours getting married?”

I paused for two seconds while putting down my bag, then quickly responded, “Well, my cousin is getting married, why are you asking this?”

Hearing that, his serious expression relaxed and he sneered, “Aunt Clarice asked me to help arrange the wedding banquet, but she didn't tell me who the protagonist of the wedding banquet was. And it seems that you are the only eligible person in your family. I thought you were going to get married.”

Speaking of that, he himself found it a little funny.

Yes, people my age in my family were already married and some even had two children.

But in their eyes, I was still a loner.

But I could not smile, so I pulled the corner of my mouth slightly and asked tentatively, “Then, when will you marry me?”

Hearing that, his expression suddenly changed, the smile in his eyes disappeared, revealing an unruly. “Clara, I have no plans to get married now, please stop making trouble.”

Hearing the warning in his words, the little bit of anticipation I had just felt quickly dissipated.

I knew clearly that it was not that he did not want to get married, he just did not want to marry me.

I looked into his eyes and whispered, “My cousin waited until she was 30 to settle down for a scumbag. Although she is past the marriageable age, I would like to trouble you to plan the wedding with the best specifications.”

“Of course, but Aunt Clarice didn't tell me what kind of wedding the bride wanted. Why don't you ask her?”

I nodded and took out my phone, pretending to send a message to someone.

Half a minute later, I said, “My cousin said that she will let me take care of the wedding. If you have any questions, you can ask me directly.”

After all, I was the bride of this wedding.

Afterwards, Juan called the waiter to serve the food.

He ordered hot spicy menus as usual.

Looking at the unsimilar food in front of me, I pursed my lips and called the waiter again, “Please give me a normal burger with a diet cola.”

Hearing that, Juan's eyes flashed with surprise, “You don't like these dishes?”

Yes, I could not eat spicy food. I had had a bad stomach since I was a child and could not eat spicy food.

But every time I always endured it in order to cater to his taste and curiosity in every new menu.

I vaguely remembered the first time I ate out with him.

That day he got the collaboration he was dreaming of and happily treated me to spicy food.

I could not bear to spoil his mood, so I ate with him.

That night I was rushed to the hospital with a stomach ulcer.

And every time he came to my house for dinner, the nanny at home always cooked two of the same dishes. One spicy, one not spicy.

However, after so many years, he still had not discovered it.

That shows if his heart was really not with me.

‘Juan, since you don’t love me, then I don’t want to love you anymore,’ I thought.

I poured a cola into my glass full of ice and said, “I have a bad stomach and cannot eat spicy food.”

As I said that, he was typing on his phone and nodded perfunctorily in response to my words.

When he looked up again, Juan's eyes were filled with a smile and he said, “Since you don't want to eat it, I'll pack it up and bring it to Rosetta. These are all her favorite dishes."

As Juan spoke, he seemed to realize that what he said was wrong and explained, “After all, we spent money on it. It would be a waste if we don't eat it. Clara, you can't bear to waste food, right?”

When I heard that, I wanted to laugh.

But I could not laugh at that moment.

Since I did not say anything, he started to feel guilty.

Chapter 4

“I think, Juan, eating these is not enough. Why don't you buy some desserts for Rosetta? Girls like these sweet little things.”

He seemed to think what I said was right and nodded, “You are right, I will go buy some later.”

I smiled but replied nothing.

After dinner, he drove me back to the company.

When he came across a dessert shop on the road, he parked his car on the side of the road.

Then he was seen striding towards the dessert shop.

Not long after, he was seen walking out carrying an exquisitely packaged cake box.

When we got in the car, he threw the puff in his hand onto my lap and said, “I bought one for you, too. Try it.”

I looked at the simply packaged puffs and then at the slogan posted on the door of the dessert shop.

“Today, the first ten people who buy strawberry cake will get three puffs of the same flavor for free!"

How ridiculous.

The puffs he gave me were a free gift from the store.

Soon, we arrived at our destination, got out of the car and watched him drive away.

I raised my hand and threw the bag in my hand directly into the trash can.

I would always appreciate what people gave to me, as long as I liked them. But it was a different story if I hated them. No matter how expensive the gift he gave me was, it was garbage to me.

In the next few days, Juan pursued Rosetta vigorously.

I did not have to ask about him specifically, I could see him in various news reports.

As I followed my mother's advice to choose a wedding ring, he was taken to the police station for fighting with Rosetta's fiancé.

The time I was choosing my wedding dress, he set off a grand fireworks display for Rosetta and confessed his love to her in public.

When I was choosing the theme for the wedding, he unscrupulously rushed into Rosetta's wedding to grab the bride.

So, after seeing those news, my broken heart has long been healed and I could even comment on them like a spectator.

It was my mother who was extremely angry.

“What's wrong with Juan recently? He has lost all his dignity for a woman and even did something like kidnaping the bride of her marriage.”

But I defended him, “Everyone has their own preferences, Mom. I think Juan likes her so much, which proves that she must have something special. So, don't worry about it.”

After my mother heard this, although she was unhappy, she did not say anything else.

“Hey, I originally wanted to bring you and Juan together, but when I proposed this idea to him, he said that he treated you as his own sister. Now it seems that it's a good thing that he made it clear to me at the time, otherwise you would have been wronged.”

It turned out that my mother had mentioned that to him. No wonder he rarely came to my house since he was with me.

I was about to respond when a reminder of Rosetta’s Instagram update popped up on my phone.

When I saw that, I remembered.

After knowing who Juan’s first love was, I secretly followed her Instagram.

Just like a mouse that feared the light, I secretly spied on her life.

I envied her for getting all the love from Juan.

I always wondered, if I became like her, would Juan love me as much as he loved her?

So I secretly imitated her dressing style and her habits.

Sometimes, Juan would look at me with love and agree to whatever I asked for.

But when the requirement was about to announce the relationship, he would avoid it.

Only then I knew the reason why.

When Juan looked at me at that time, he only saw Rosetta through me.

He loved her as a person and no matter what she became, his heart would not change.

At that moment, she just updated her status.

The photo showed a pair of clasped hands.

Chapter 5

The caption was very simple, just a few words, “After all the twists and turns, it's still you. Please give me your guidance for the rest of my life.”

Within half a minute, a user with an account name I know liked the post, commenting, “My honey, please give me your guidance for the rest of my life.”

It was Juan.

I pursed my lips and secretly gave a thumbs up.

Under his review, one person commented, “Congratulations.”

Congratulations, you have found the love you wished for.

Perhaps Juan was too happy to have won the beauty and did not realize that it was my account.

He subconsciously replied, “Thank you.”

But when I saw the message and clicked on it, I found that the comment had been deleted.

I could not help but shake my head.

Juan, your attempt to cover up your mistakes was really clumsy.

Not long after, he sent me a message, pretending that what happened just then had not happened, saying, [I have been busy with work recently and have no time to accompany you. When I am free, I will accompany you to travel.]

I did not respond to his message, neither did him.

As the wedding date approached, Juan finally remembered to ask me about the wedding.

He messaged me, [The wedding banquet has been arranged, but why are there no wedding photos?]

I replied without hesitation, [I will have someone arrange everything for the wedding day, so you don't have to worry about this.]

As I said that, I transferred some money to him and told him, “Juan, please arrange the best MC for this wedding and hire a few powerful bodyguards. I don't want anything to happen on the wedding day.”

He seemed unhappy about my transferring the money. He did not even reply to the message.

Until the wedding day.

I met my future husband whom I had never met before.

The first time I saw him, my eyes widened.

The person who came was none other than my senior who had pursued me in college.

When he saw me, the smile in his eyes deepened a little and he extended his hand like a gentleman and whispered, “Clara, long time no see.”

I reacted quickly, put my hand on his palm and said with the same smile, “It’s been a long time, Harvey.”

As our eyes met each other, my nervousness quickly calmed down.

From picking up the bride from home to going to the hotel and on the eve of the wedding banquet, everything went smoothly.

Until the wedding banquet began, I walked slowly from the hall door wearing a gorgeous wedding dress and holding my father's hand.

Juan was sitting in the audience, stood up and stared at me with bloodshot eyes.

He shouted, “Clara, why is it you? Get down here.”
