Chapter 1

I will never forget the day I met my fatal end.

I had an argument with my mate—the alpha of the silverfang pack—and I walked out in his anger, going into the woods for a run, hoping it would calm my anger. Unfortunately, I had a run-in with rogues who had been camping around the area, and I had fallen prey to them.

I was in their territory, and I stood no chance when they attacked me, pouring their rage on me.

Their razor-sharp fangs tore into my skin, leaving me in pain. And I lay helpless, feeling excruciating pain, while I waited for death to come.

Yet all I could think of was my mate.

My useless Alpha had no idea I was on my last breath. He would be frolicking with his mistress now, celebrating her birthday, showering her with all the love that should have been mine alone, and the thought only made death an easier choice.

It hurts to think that we were once couples in love, the envy of the pack, and we had once made a promise to each other to die in the other’s arms, but I was dying on the cold forest floor while he was probably sleeping with his mistress.

But before the cold arms of death could snatch me, I felt my hands gently pull me up. A good Samaritan had found me during his walk, and he had carried me to the hospital, but it was too late; I was already halfway between the land of the living and the dead.

I could remember staring at the white ceiling of the hospital with haphazard vision as they hooked me to the IV lines, trying desperately to save me.

In my subconscious, I heard the nurse call my mate, informing him about my condition, but he had demised it, thinking it was a prank call, and they tried reaching him again, and this time, he became furious, believing it was a plot to avoid his rejection.

I could tell the doctors and nurses were cringing when his loud voice boomed from the speaker, warning me not to call him again.

It was a reality shock for me, and as if I had been waiting for confirmation, I had plunged into total darkness, and I gave up, freeing myself from the shackles of the man I once loved.

I wish I had been conscious enough; I would have asked them not to call him; hopefully it would have saved me from embarrassment and maybe spared my life.

As I close my eyes lying in the pack hospital wing, I can still hear Terry's roaring from the other side of phone.

"Alpha, Luna... Luna, she's died." A healer timidly reported.

"Stop nonsense! Let her answer the phone!" Terry still barked, not believing the truth.

It was too late. I won't answer his phone from now on, and he had no idea of it.

Chapter 2

I woke up with a start, blinking my eye open as I tried to recognize my immediate surroundings. But it was strange to see that I was no longer confined to the hospital.

Instead, I was in my home, the one I had shared with Terry, and I was lying down on the sofa. I slowly sat up, trying to make out what was happening, but I heard laughter beside me, and I was almost jumping out of my scream.

I turned to the sound of the laughter, and there was my mate, sitting on the sofa, his eyes glued to his phone screen and mindlessly scrolling through it, a large smile on his face.

And for a moment I was watching him, stunned by his beauty. He was the alpha of the silver fang pack and had caught the eyes of a lot of females.

He still had his boyish features—the sharp jawline that had threatened to cut me into two—indeed he had been sculpted by the goddess himself.

He was perfect throughout, even down to his prowess in bed, and I had been the lucky one to experience all this.

His screen lit up even as the ping went off his phone, and his smile widened as he read through it, and a flash of jealousy went through me, searing hot as burning with each passing second.

I should be the only one making him smile like this.

“Terry?” I called out to him, standing up to meet him, but he was still glued to his screen, and my scowl only deepened. I was very sure the man I married wasn’t deaf, and I called him again, this time walking to tap him on his shoulders. “Terry?”

But the strangest thing happened. My hands passed through his body like it was air, and I froze, my mind struggling to comprehend what had just happened.

I tried again, and my hands slipped through his body, sending a chill down my spine and panic setting in. “Terry!” I screamed out, my voice hoarse with fear. “It is me; can you hear me?” But the words bounced right off him, and he remained glued to his phone.

And I was still, for a moment, trying to fathom everything. The last thing I remembered was giving up the ghost on the hospital bed, and if I was still somehow alive now, it means I was a ghost.

Ghost?

The thoughts bothered me even thinking of it, but I heard a knock on the door, and I rushed to open the door, forgetting my new status; however, the door pushed open before I got to it, and a lady entered inside.

Katherine!

I spat out her name like poison in my mouth. She was dressed in a long black dress that covered her frame, and she had wrapped a headscarf around her as if she were mourning, but I knew better.

Her eyes flitted across the room, eyeing it in distaste, and a scowl was on her face as if it had been plastered in. I could tell she was mocking me.

My mate's eyes lit up as he saw her, and he stood up, running towards her like a pathetic child, and he enveloped her in a warm hug that had my chest burning.

He pressed her into himself, her ample bosom crushing her, and I could only look on in oblivion.

I wish I wasn’t around to see such things.

“Baby.” Katherine whined, her voice reminding me of the sound baby chickens make. “Why are you still with her?”

“She is just too adamant in love, but don’t stress your pretty head; I will soon reject her, and we will finally get to be together.” Terry reassured her, gently stroking her head, and Katherine nodded her head, hanging on to his every word.

I wished that was all they had done, but they leaned closer, their lips reaching out and connecting with each other, and they kissed like young, passionate lovers.

And I looked up, tears falling out of my reddened eyes.

It was ironic that they were kissing beneath our wedding photos, and Teddy and I were even kissing in that picture, looking like happy couples.

It was even funny that my mate had deemed it fit to celebrate the birthday of his mistress on the day of my supposed death.

Ironic right?

Chapter 3

I could still remember how it all started.

As I stood watching the couple in love, I was taken back in time to when everything was still peaceful.

Terry and I had been childhood friends, and we grew up together, an inseparable pair, but somehow Katherine had joined us, and we became a trio.

She was an orphan servant in the pack, but neither Terry nor I had seen it as a bother, and we had liked her as a friend.

Back then, most of the werewolf packs were at war, all except one. My father, Alpha Lowe, and Terry’s father, Alpha Shane, were best friends, contrary to what should have been, and eventually Terry and I became best friends.

However, tragedy had struck when rogues attacked my pack, changing the trajectory of my life forever. My parents had charged forward as the leaders protecting our pack, and it had cost them greatly.

The pack had barely managed to escape, but everyone had left with scars. My dad was at the forefront of the fight, and he had taken a lot of hits and injuries; there was no way he could survive it, so he had died shortly after while my mother was seriously injured and had to be hospitalized.

With nowhere to go, the Shanes took me in, and I began to live with them, and my friendship with Terry even blossomed to a point that it slowly transcended to love.

I don’t know how it happened, but somehow I had fallen in love with my best friend, and it had caught the attention of his parents, especially his mother.

Eager to continue the friendship between the family, Shane's mother had arranged the wedding, and it was the biggest event in the pack.

I could still remember how beautiful I looked, wearing his mother’s wedding dress, and Terry had looked at me like I was his whole world and had whispered sweet things to my ears.

And we had shared a sweet kiss, sealing the bond forever.

The marriage was the best thing that had ever happened to me, and I didn’t know I could love someone so much. Our love was so strong that it continued to blossom, but it hadn’t gone unnoticed by Katherine, and she had been jealous.

She had seduced Terry, swaying him with her body and sweet words, and men are such fickle creatures; he had succumbed to her desire, and that was the start of their affair.

The affair had gone unnoticed until the pack had been attacked by a rivalry pack and Katherine and I had been injured.

Yet when he had arrived at where we were, she was the only one he could see.

He had rushed to her, gathering her in his arms and searching all over her body for any injuries while he had continued to reassure her, and I was on the side, lying down in obvious pain and neglected by my ‘mate’.

It was then I realized my mate may not be entirely mine; I was now sharing him with my supposed ‘best friend’.

But for the sake of love, I had pretended like I didn’t notice, hoping he would come back to his senses, but that had only added more coal to the fire, and their relationship grew while I was relegated to the background.

Their relationship only continued to wax stronger until I couldn’t take it any longer and I confronted him, expecting him to be ashamed and beg for forgiveness.

But the complete opposite had happened, and he was brazen, telling me to either accept it or reject him.

But I could never do that.

The whole pack would know that I was a failure as a mate, and Katherine would gloat at my shame. So I had to continue to keep a blind eye to their relationship while constantly ignoring Terry’s request for a rejection.

But now I was dead, and I could do nothing but watch them defile my matrimonial bed with tears brimming down my eyes.
