Chapter 1
The day before the wedding, my fiancé Damien Blackwood handed me a bill worth tens of millions and asked me to pay it.
I frowned as I looked at the details above:
"You bought this villa for your parents, but I don't live in it, so why do you want me to pay the full amount?"
"And this new luxury car, didn't you buy it for your brother? How can you blame me for it?"
"What's even more outrageous is that your parents and relatives' Haute Couture gowns, why do you want me to pay for them?"
Damien explained impatiently:
"Although the villa is bought for my parents, don't you live in it when you go back?"
"The luxury car I bought for my brother is also to make you look good when you pick up the bride."
"The Haute Couture gowns of my parents and relatives are also meant to show your filial piety. Is there anything wrong with asking you to pay for them?"
I smiled and my eyes fell on the two boxes of condoms worth hundreds of thousands of dollars at the bottom of the bill.
"How do you explain this?"
Damien is confident:
"Chloe picked those two boxes for you personally. Even though she used them, it was just to help you try them out."
My smile gradually faded. He didn't know yet that I happened to find that used condom in his room last night.
"I can't pay for this. Find someone else."
I slammed the bill on the table and said, "The wedding is canceled."
Then I turned around and called my childhood sweetheart who had been pursuing me for ten years.
"Are you free to get married?"
……
Sebastian Sterling was drinking at the Velvet Rope Lounge. When he heard what I said, he sobered up instantly and jumped three feet high.
"Scarlett Dubois, you're not drunk, are you? What did you say?"
His voice was hoarse and had a slightly nasal tone.
My mom said a few days ago that she heard that I was going to marry someone else, and Sebastian went to the Velvet Rope Lounge to get drunk for a week.
I didn't expect it to be true.
"No kidding, do you want to marry me?"
Sebastian excitedly held up his phone and agreed:
"Yes, yes, yes, my dear. I have been pursuing you for ten years, and yet you have finally seen me."
I sighed:
"Stop talking nonsense. If you want to get married, hurry up and prepare. The wedding will be tomorrow. There's no time to waste."
After hanging up the phone, Damien still sat in the living room.
The bill was placed in front of him.
Seeing me coming out of the study, he frowned and pushed me forward again.
"Scarlett, don't be so petty! Tomorrow is our wedding, and you're not paying a penny. Are you just trying to get something for free?"
He looked at me sideways and said contemptuously:
"Don't bring up the breakup all the time. Don't forget that you were the one who agreed to the dynamic marriage arrangement with me."
I sneered sarcastically.
This marriage was originally a condition I agreed to with my parents.
My mother said as long as I agree to the dynamic marriage arrangement.
This year, I was given a $100 million trust fund on my birthday.
That’s 1 billion in assets, enough for me to live comfortably for the rest of my life without having to worry about food and drink.
There's no need to be stingy with money.
It just so happened that among a group of dynastic marriage arrangement candidates, I randomly picked one that I liked.
"Let's go with him."
But I didn't expect that Damien, who looked like a decent, suave and good candidate for a dynamic marriage arrangement, was actually a stingy person at heart.
The wedding is coming up soon, and he's actually planning to make a fortune from the bride.
It’s a pity that he got the wrong person.
I don't want to be taken advantage of.
I stood up lazily:
"I'm sorry, I don't want to get married. I'm not interested."
As I said that, I took out a bank card from my bag and threw it to him lightly.
"The $200,000 betrothal gift you gave me was just a token of my appreciation. I didn't touch a cent of it. I'm returning it to you now."
Chapter 2
Damien's face flashed with shock, and then he sneered disdainfully:
"break off an engagement?"
"Scarlett, for a girl like you, marrying someone of my class is already marrying up. Are you willing to break off the engagement?"
"If it weren't for Harrison's sake, I wouldn't even bother looking at you. Can a idiot like you who only wants to take advantage maintain your status even if you marry into a wealthy family?"
"If you pay this little bit of money on the bill obediently, I can pretend that nothing happened. Just consider it as your toll for marrying into a wealthy family."
I couldn't help but lower my head and smile.
What a big tone.
But he doesn't know yet that the Harrison he is so proud of is actually my dad's assistant, right?
I was kidnapped when I was a child. My parents were so scared that they refused to reveal my true identity to anyone. No one had ever seen what the wealthy Mrs. Dubois looked like.
Damien said with a disdainful tone, "Girls like you", he wouldn't think I'm a gold digger who wants to marry into a rich family, right?
Listening to him chirping in my ear, I found it more annoying than a fly.
I picked my ears:
"Damien, don't you understand what I'm saying?"
"I've already said it, now I don't want to marry you, not because of this little money, but because -"
I pointed to the two boxes of condoms on the bill:
"I think it's dirty."
Damien's face changed when he heard that and he stood up suddenly.
"Who do you think you are? How dare you look down on me?"
He pretended to be calm, looked at the country bumpkin, and sneered contemptuously:
"I just say that women like you have never seen the world. Do you know what the upper class is?"
"It's normal to have a few girlfriends. I'm 28 years old. If I were a virgin, I would be laughed at by people in my circle."
"Besides, Chloe is my childhood sweetheart, it's normal for us to maintain a relationship that's more than friends but less than lovers..."
I was almost sick of him.
At the same time, I’m glad that I saw his true face before marriage, otherwise I would be disgusted to death if I married such a person after marriage.
I raised my hand and threw his bill away, and told the bodyguard, "Show him away. Damien is not allowed to come in next time."
Damien was carried out in a panic by three or five bodyguards.
The nanny looked at me worriedly:
"Miss, why did you chase your fiancé away? Weren't we supposed to discuss the wedding today? Why did you break up?"
"Then what about tomorrow's wedding? If it can't be held, how are you going to explain to Mr. and Mrs.?"
I smiled and patted her shoulder:
"Aunt, don't worry, I have already arranged it."
Damien thought I had agreed to a dynamic marriage arrangement.
They can manipulate me at will and put themselves on a high pedestal.
But I didn't know that I just needed a dynamic marriage arrangement partner, and he was not necessary for me.
That night, I went to the Velvet Rope Lounge to look for someone, but unexpectedly I was stopped as soon as I arrived at the door.
"Hey, isn't this Scarlett? Damien, why didn't your sister-in-law tell you that she came to the Velvet Rope Lounge alone?"
The person next to him laughed and said:
"Aren't you getting married tomorrow? Why didn't you say hello when you met, sister-in-law?"
I said coldly, "Who is your sister-in-law? Damien and I have already called off the engagement."
But I didn't expect that Damien would stick to me like a tamper-proof plaster.
"Scarlett, you're not serious, are you? I asked you to pay some money, and you want to cancel the engagement?"
"If this gets out, how will people view our family? It's embarrassing enough. You dare to embarrass me, but I can't afford to embarrass myself as a person."
Damien nonchalantly twirled the wine glass in his hand, looking up at me with a sneer.
Chapter 3
"If you want to break off the engagement now, you have to compensate me 100 million."
What a big mouth the lion has.
I sneered and looked him up and down.
"I can't see why you are worth 100 million?"
Damien had an expected expression:
"I knew you couldn't afford it. Even if I sold your whole family, you still wouldn't be able to raise the 100 million, right?"
Damien simply waved his hand and asked several bodyguards around him to block my way.
"Either you pay the money today, or you pay 100 million dollars obediently, otherwise, forget it if you cancel the engagement."
I looked at them with a sneer, "What if I just don't pay the money?"
There was a sudden burst of mocking laughter all around.
"I really can't believe that your fiancée is not only a vampire, but also a scoundrel."
"You only think about hooking up with rich men every day, but you can't even pay for your own money. Do you really think you are a whore?"
People around covered their mouths and laughed:
"I've seen a lot of girls like this. They dress themselves up to look gorgeous, isn't it just to catch a rich husband?"
"Look at the dress she's wearing. It's a limited edition piece by a European designer. There's only one in the world. How dare she wear it so brazenly? It must be fake, right?"
"It's no wonder a materialistic and vain woman like her refuses to help you pay the bill. I don't think she can afford it at all..."
Damien's vanity was greatly satisfied by such flattery.
He sneered and said:
"You don't have to pay that money, why don't you just play a game with my brothers today?"
"Each of my brothers has a coin in his hand. They throw it to you and you have to perform a show."
"Once you have collected these ten coins, this matter will be written off."
As soon as the words fell, a burst of ear-piercing cheers suddenly rang out all around.
"You have such a great figure, why don't you give us a striptease?"
"Perform a chest-breaking rock show. I love seeing beautiful women make ferocious expressions."
"Why don't you drink 10 glasses of wine with us and then play truth or dare..."
Their eyes fell on me with ill intention, and they were thinking about how to teach me a lesson and make me look bad.
But I didn't buy it at all.
"I don't have time to play with you."
I threw those coins directly into the sewer and raised my eyes coldly:
"You want to settle accounts with me, right? Then I will settle accounts with you and settle my accounts with you."
As I said this, I pulled up the shopping list on my phone and placed it in front of everyone.
"These are gifts given to you on holidays and birthdays. I roughly calculated that the value is about 50 million US dollars. Since you have no intention of respecting me, I will not marry you. Let's return the money and part ways amicably."
Damien remained lying on the sofa, not even glancing at him, and scoffed.
"Scarlett, aren't you afraid of getting your tongue tangled when you say such big words? 50 million, you don't even want to buy a villa worth 10 million, you are so stingy, ask if anyone around you believes what you say now?"
There was an even louder laugh from the side.
"The girl is so arrogant at such a young age. She is wearing fake goods and bragging like that. She really thinks we are fools who don't know the value of goods."
"Young people nowadays are so vain and materialistic and have no bottom line."
"Scarlett, don't be so heartless. I know that Damien gave you a set of Haute Couture gowns worth millions on your birthday last year. Why didn't you mention it?"
